The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.
Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar. Series on Saturday giveaway ends tonight!
Sunday, I am always excited to go visit my friend’s blogs and see what is happening with them. Aw Grandpa (my younger brother) just sent me a photo of my new grand nephew. Lulu and I walked a medium route since it was a bit chilly. We liked the fingerless alpaca mitts so well I ordered some more.
Monday, today it’s warmer. Lulu and I went on the longer route. After dinner, I took all the ornaments off the Christmas tree.
Tuesday, I got Lulu out to do her business before the rain started! My daughter did her gig in a light rain. I got all the garbage, recycle and even the Christmas tree out to the curb.
Wednesday, every night I get one less hour of sleep. My own fault for staying up reading last night. I scrambled to put in a Walmart pickup The weather was gorgeous. Lulu and I, my daughter and Abby had a nice walk. I dropped off Amazon returns while my daughter was at the chiro, then we did our Walmart pickup. They left out the chicken thighs so I had to do a return for them. That was unusual. I got two of the audio ARCs I have been waiting for!
Thursday, the weather was so nice and warm 70F 21C. It felt great. I got a photo of the Lenton Rose blooming. We walked the dogs. I went down some rabbit holes again today. The third one of my audios I wanted to review was available finally. I got some blog posts ready. I looked up patterns to make a holder for circular knitting needles. I have one I made but it needs more space. I made a batch of food for Lulu. I uploaded new audio ARCs to my phone.
Friday, I stayed up too late reading so Lulu woke me up to go outside. I went back to sleep for a couple hours. I wrote some reviews and did the usual computer work. Then Lulu and I took a walk on the longer route, so we could see the swans. The weather was a little cooler than yesterday but still very nice. I did some more work on a quilt for the new baby.
Saturday, I woke up before Lulu. I ended up reading for a bit before I got going. I finished off some chores which had been hanging for awhile. It’s cooler today. I walked Lulu on a short, brisk walk. I got everything ready to prepare for dinner. I’ve been making soup every Saturday night now. I did a pile of mending and then did some more quilting while listening to audio.
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):
My thanks to Thomas & Mercer, Minotaur Books, Berkley Romance, MacMillan Audio, and Hera Books.
(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)
I got 2 audios for $4 each at Chirp.
I got this on sale for $1.99. I own all the audiobooks and several of the ebooks.
Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.
I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.
I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.
Anne
Congrats on the birth of your grand nephew! He’s a cutie. I can only dream of 70 degree weather. Yesterday it was 20 in the morning, lol. Have a good week, Anne😁
Thank you Tammy! It’s usually 50s days and 30s nights this time of year and that’s what it is this week.
Aw congrats on the new little cutie! Hope you have a great week!
Thank you! I love babies.
Congrats on the new grand nephew. 🙂 I’ve usually had good luck with Walmart pick-ups. I think only once did something get left out completely. I logged in to report it and they credited my card back quickly (it was out of stock so I couldn’t go back and get it). I have an Aldi much closer than Walmart but I don’t think they offer curbside pickup, which is a shame. I’ve been seeing Hell Bent around the blogosphere a lot this week. Hope you enjoy it!
Thank you Tanya. Overall my experience with Walmart has been good. They did credit it. But the credit was the estimated price of $7.12, the charge was the actual weight of the chicken I didn’t get $8.54. We can do curbside here at Aldi, which is through Instacart. You don’t have to join Instacart, you do it at the Aldi’s website. The same for Wegmans.
Congrats on the new grand baby! How exciting for you!
Have a good reading week.

Thank you!
Love the new Grand nephew. hopefully it will be another ten years before I get one of those. But I love the pics. Hope your week is grand and I took a gander at your “Mind Walker” rec, I love books like that and so i picked it up.
Thank you Trin. I like those “mind” books too so I hope I can get to reading it soon.
What a bonny baby! There is always something magical about newborns… Congratulations on being a great-aunty:). Thank you for the pic of your lovely Lenten rose – I love these plants, but here in the UK we call them hellebores. My favourite public garden has a wonderful collection of them – I’ve tried, but the slugs love them too much. We are currently struggling with temperatures below freezing so I look longingly at your warm day. I love the Jane Yellowrock books, too – although I’m quite a way behind. And I enjoyed Mindwalker, which is an enjoyable sci fi adventure. Have a great week, Anne:).
Thank you Sarah! I love getting more scifi in my reading. yes I know all the scientific names like hellebore, but I just used the common name here. I am sure my pronunciations of those scientific names are horrible. I’ll ask for something at the garden center and they look at me like I’m speaking gibberish. We are most always 50F /10C days and 30F / 0C nights range during the winter so that was so nice to have a warm spell. I hope it won’t kill my plants since it’s back to normal now.
Aw, your grand nephew is adorable! Congrats! Lulu is also cute as usual. Can’t wait for the new Ali Hazelwood book. I can’t decide if I’ll wait for the audiobook or get it when it comes out maybe from Book of the Month club to match my other ones. I got the Kylie Gilmore book freebie this week too. Hope you have a good week!
Thank you Lisa. It’s always hard to decide which format to get. I love audio but some of the stuff is I request and see which I get approved. There are some though I prefer the eARC.
Congrats on the new grand nephew. For a second I did a double take – the picture is almost identical to one of my friend’s little boy born in December! Sounds like a good productive week with lots of good walks – we had some good walks this week too, the weather was mostly nice which helps. So many new books too! I want to read more Ali Hazelwood – I read one book of hers this last year and loved it.
Have a great week! Looking forward to our buddy read 🙂
Thank you Berls. I am SO looking forward to the buddy read. I could be reading now but lots of great Sunday visiting to do.
Your grand nephew looks delightfully squishy, congratulations
I just read Love to Loathe You by Ali Hazelwood and now I’m a fan, I’ll have to see if I can get Love, theoretically.
Wishing you a great reading week
Thank you Shelleyrae. I really love the STEM environment in the Hazelwood books.
Your new grand nephew is adorable!! Congratulations. I see that Lulu looks comfy and cozy. Have a great week, Anne.
Thank you Wendy! Lulu leaves a trail of toys wherever she goes.
Sometimes I go late with my reading and it throws the whole next day off (but I don’t care, LOL). I love soup this time of the year, too. Glad you got in all the audio arcs you were waiting on.
Have a good week, Anne!
Thank you Sophia. It’s the big change into the new year and shortly the new Read-along. Also I have to plan and announce 2024 Read-along which has been an internal struggle. So I’m going to try something new. I used to be fine with moving my schedule all over, but Lulu has gotten so barky in the morning I am now getting up at a regular time no matter when I go to bed.
Congrats on the new family member! Hope you have a great week!
Thank you Samantha. I hope this week is a great one for you too, with less stress.
I remember seeing a couple of your freebies on the lists that passed through my email, even checked them out, but ultimately passed – I already have TOO many so unless the freebie REALLY catches my attention, I pass. (at least for a bit) I also added Hell Bent to my wish list – I loved Ninth House so am eager to see what happens next. Sounds like you had a nice normal week – those are great sometimes. Hope you have another one and enjoy your books.
Terrie @ Bookshelf Journeys
Thank you Terrie! Nice and normal is good. I try to be very selective and still end up with a pile of freebies.
Congratulations on your new addition to the family! What a wonderful haul this week – I hope that you enjoy them all. Have a wonderful week ahead!
Thank you Jodie. I’ve spent a lot of time reading freebies this week which turned out to be very good ones.
Your grand-nephew is adorable! 70 degrees sounds so nice right now. Enjoy your books this week.
Thank you Naida. That was a nice day. This week will be more 50s and rain today. But 50s aren’t all that bad.
Congratulations on the new family member! He’s a cutie! Our walks have become more complicated since we have the one lame dog but I do enjoy getting out with them every day. Nice new reads this week! I have heard that Hell Bent is great but I still need to read Ninth House. Have a great week!
Thank you Carole. I really enjoyed NInth House but it felt complex and maybe a bit intense. I have been worrying about your dog with the torn ACLs. I mean they have to go outside and then is it just getting further injured?
I don’t know that it is getting injured any further. Basically, those ligaments have snapped or may be severely torn and are no longer providing support to her knee which allows the bones to slide around inside her knee. She still can get around but we are now calling her Limps a Lot. I do take her on short incredibly slow walks just to get out of the house a bit. We are trying to stop her from jumping. She has learned to stop next to the bed so that we can pick her up. The surgery will basically reconstruct her knee so that it has the support that she needs.
Cute baby! I hope you enjoy all of these when you get a chance to read them! Have a great weekend!
Thanks Cindy.
I always like visiting the blogs on Sundays too. what did I do before blogging lol?
We’ve done Walmart (or Meijer, the local chain) pick ups a few times, and my mom who is now recovering is doing her ordering online and having delivered. It’s definitely convenient once you get the hang of it. 🙂
yes ordering online is not a perfect solution. It has its pros and cons but we used it a lot at the start of covid. Now that I’m vaxxed and masked I go to stores but minimize my trips and times at them. I’ve been to Meijer when on my Harley traveling. 🙂
🙂
Congrats on your new grand nephew! What a cutie!
Thank you Suzanne
Congrats on the new grand nephew! You’ve been having some nice weather! The roses are looking real nice.
I’ll be requesting A Stolen Child. I’m enjoying that series too. I’m also looking forward to Love, Theoretically.
Thank you Rachel. It has been nice. It doesn’t usually get really cold here for more than 2-3 days.
Congratulations on your newest family member. He’s a cutie.
Thank you Laura. I think we’d keep him no matter what.
I messed around with auto-sharing on my blog last week. I installed a plugin to auto-share with Mastodon and it’s working great. I discovered (and then remembered) that when we set my blog up (I paid someone), we installed a plugin for auto-sharing because Jetpack was unreliable. Over time, the permissions lapsed, etc. I went in and reconnected them, but they aren’t working. I spent about 3 hours on it and am frustrated. I still haven’t tried the ones you sent me. I need to find more time. I just don’t know anything about anything!
The ones I sent you Jen are not plugins. They are apps that run independently with RSS feed. This makes them easier to implement when you know nothing about WordPress or Blogger or whatever platform.
Oooh a grand nephew! That’s a thirlling news!
Thank you Sophie. We are excited.
Congrats on the new grand nephew. Lulu is as cute as always.
Thanks Mary.
Such a cute picture of your grand nephew! Sounds like you had a busy week. I hope you enjoy your book haul.
Thank you Bonnie! It’s all good stuff.
Awww congrats on the grand nephew!
Thank you!
Congrats on the baby! What’s his name?
Do you make broth-y soups or thicker, creamier soups? My like a good, hearty soup or chowder myself, but I’ll eat almost any soup.
They named him Jay Thomas. I make all kinds of soups or stews. I make some with a cream base, some with a tomato base and some with a chicken broth base. I’ve been expanding my repertoire. This Saturday is a chicken broth base but it has tomatoes in it, a vegetarian chili. They used veggie broth but I prefer chicken broth so not actually vegetarian.
