The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.  IDC Giveaway ends tonight!

Sunday, I got started on visiting. My post notification for the Sunday post didn’t go.  The usual things to trigger it didn’t work either.  We had our chat on the Night Huntress series where it is always great to share ideas.   Lulu and I went out afterward and I thought it would be cold but it was nice.  Then I was listening to such a great audiobook I had to finish it before dinner.  I went back to the office after dinner to put together grocery lists according to my menu plans and to finish my visiting and responding to comments.  The orchid is going to bloom again!  One is a heavy producer and the other one is not.

Monday, I woke up early.  As always there is much I want to do. I wrote my reviews. Lulu and I went on our walk and the sun felt good; it was warm. I worked a bit more on the quilt top.

Tuesday,  what a beautiful morning.  Lulu and Abby took us on the walk.  We visited briefly with Bella (new to the neighborhood) and Max, who is another neighbor’s dachshund.  We got a farm box today so I decided against doing the grocery shopping until I needed it more for dinner plans.  My daughter was asked to let Kayla and Abby out again at 3pm so she stayed up, and also finished up her homework for the day..  That gave me a chance to vacuum when I wouldn’t wake her up.  Then she went to nap while I finished the quilt top and sewed the binding.  There was just enough fabric for what I wanted to do but it was close! I washed the quilt top, which I always do, to make sure all the seams hold well.  I had soaked the shower head  in vinegar because it seemed to be spraying at weird angles.

Wednesday, what a gorgeous day.  It’s around 70F / 20C and sunny.  We enjoyed walking with Abby and Lulu.  The shower head seemed fine but there was water running from the ceiling down to the shower head wall pipe.  So now what? I did some chores and then created a video on the tips people gave me which I shared below. I ironed the quilt top and set up the 3 layers for the actual quilting.

“Mom I want to wear this sweater.”

Thursday,  I put my hand around the shower head connection and it stayed dry when I turned on the water.  I was today years old when I learned about thread tape.  But that’s not where the leak is.  It’s the two connection parts next to the cord the shower head connection.  I ordered a new shower head and it comes with thread tape.  The atomic clock needed a new battery.  Then Lulu and I rushed out to walk with my daughter and Abby.  I was immediately leaving for Sam’s club and remembered I hadn’t put my new tags on the Harley or the car so I did that first.  I got the stuff I needed, barely had time to put it away and rush off to my eye appt.  I still don’t need glasses except for reading or fine work.  My eyes are healthy.  I stopped at Food Lion just for milk, but they had a sale on lettuce so I got some.  When I got home, while letting Lulu out, I planted seeds for carrots and spinach.  The broccoli is ready to eat.  I grabbed a snack for lunch (4pm) and finally to the computer stuff.   I processed the salmon I got into 3 freezer meal portions.

Friday,  I reacted to the busy day yesterday by listening to my audiobook until I finished this morning.  I ran a couple errands, one to Aldi for a few items.  Eggs are down from $4.99 to $3.61.   I called about my daughter’s specialty RX to make sure they ordered it.  It’s still nice today, and I walked Lulu after but I was tired.  The pulmonaria (lungwort) is blooming!   I did more food prep including another batch of food for Lulu.  I was so tired I could barely read at bedtime.

Saturday, it’s a new day.  I got to work on chores.  I watched the little video and installed the new shower head.  The hardest part was removing the old one.  Lulu and I went for a brisk walk as it was cloudy and cooler.  I wrote 3 reviews.  I worked on the menu plan.  My daughter’s ears still hurt so it’s probably off to the doctor on Monday.

Things I Learned This Week:

OK  if I’m asking for help, I’m also going to share the cool things I learn. You may already know them but hopefully it will help someone.

Jen at That’s What I’m Talking About shared a tip on how to shelve two editions (formats):

1) Rate and review the first edition as you would any book.
2) Click on Show all X editions under the list of other editions, where X is the number of other editions in the database.
3) Click on the title of the edition you’d like to add to your shelves to visit its book page (do NOT switch to that addition).
4) On the new book edition page, scroll to the Ratings & Reviews section. There should be a . Click on the right-pointing >. From there, you’ll now see the option to review this edition.

Carole at Carole’s Random Life in Books shared how to get directly to the review:

I have figured out that the best way to pull up a review from the book page is to click on the date. (in the Reviews & Ratings section on the right side)

But since I just learned how to create a little video with Vimeo I thought I would demonstrate these techniques.  I have it setup to open a new window so you can see the full screen easily.

See the short video HERE

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by  Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

NOTHING.

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

I got this Audible daily deal for $3.99.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Anne

  1. Saving this post in my bookmarks for when I need to add the other editions! Thanks for sharing what you found on that! Lulu is as always adorable. And I’m jealous she lets you dress her. My next dachshund I’ll have to work from the time they’re puppies to get used to clothes I guess. Hope you have a good week, oh and that quilt is beautiful!

  2. I picked up Body at Blackwell Lake too – missed Body & Blood which looks interesting. Your quilt looks lovely – I only made a couple when my kids were babies and a couple later but nothing for 30 years or more. Our weather is nice this weekend too and I’m headed out for a walk shortly….trying to visit a few blogs first. Have a great week.

  3. I’m hoping to d some gardening this year. I have the space t do it and the motivation (I think) I just need time. I’m doing better (kinda) adjusting to a plant based diet.

  4. How exciting to have more dogs in the neighborhood. I hope they all get along. Is there a dog park near you? It may be fun to take them there to play. I was just wondering how your daughter is doing – sorry to read her ears still hurt. I hope she is better soon.

It was 55F and sunny here today. I know it’s just a “false spring” but it was nice to get outside in the warmer weather.

  5. Sounds like a pretty good week, all in all. I love your quilt! How do you do the actual quilting (not the piecing)?

We had a few really nice days here, too, before the cold and the rain came back with a vengeance. It’s 38 and has been raining steadily all day. My lawn is so soggy, I don’t dare walk on it without wellies.

Have a great week. I’m about halfway through Hounded (the audiobook), and it’s just as good as I remember it from when I read it 10+ years ago.

  6. What a busy week zooming about for errands, fixing the shower head, your quilt, and Lulu walks! Cute pic of her with her sweater. Nice that you’re getting a grasp on some GoodReads actions. I’ve had the search function be unavailable twice this week. Grrr! Love that your orchid is budding and you got in some gardening.

    Have a good week, Anne!

  7. I always think that I should menu plan but I probably wouldn’t follow the plan. It is great that you were able to get out so much with Lulu and the neighbor’s dogs. I hope that your daughter is feeling better soon. Have a great week!

  8. Busy week! I laughed out loud about the thread tape because I was this many days old when I learned about it… and I’m not sure I’d know what to do with it. Thankfully Kiko does maintenance for a living so I don’t have to worry about it anytime soon. I hope your daughter’s ears get squared away at the doctor! Ear infections are no fun, I think only teeth problems are worse!

    • yes I’m glad to see our eggs have come down in price a bit. I don’t think our neighborhood allows chickens but my dad’s first job at 13 was shoveling chicken shit for his uncle’s egg produce and from what he told me I want no part of that. That was other than working in his dad’s creamery. He’s been gone for years now and that was in 1926. In 1929, he and his father started a movie theater which he went on to build a chain of them for the next 25 years, while also being in the Navy during WW2, and Korean wars.

  9. 70 degrees is some nice weather! Glad to hear you and Lulu took advantage and got outside on your walks. Our “cheap” eggs are $4.99, but there are others that are $8.99 per dozen. Crazy.

  10. We’ve had freezing temperatures the last couple nights. There’s ice on my table outside. Hopefully ice won’t cause too many accidents on the roads after the rain. It’s still fairly windy out as well. I will be glad when the winds die down. I am tired of shocking everything I touch. LOL I hope you have a great week and enjoy your reading!
