The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.
Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar. IDC Giveaway ends tonight!
Sunday, I got started on visiting. My post notification for the Sunday post didn’t go. The usual things to trigger it didn’t work either. We had our chat on the Night Huntress series where it is always great to share ideas. Lulu and I went out afterward and I thought it would be cold but it was nice. Then I was listening to such a great audiobook I had to finish it before dinner. I went back to the office after dinner to put together grocery lists according to my menu plans and to finish my visiting and responding to comments. The orchid is going to bloom again! One is a heavy producer and the other one is not.
Monday, I woke up early. As always there is much I want to do. I wrote my reviews. Lulu and I went on our walk and the sun felt good; it was warm. I worked a bit more on the quilt top.
Tuesday, what a beautiful morning. Lulu and Abby took us on the walk. We visited briefly with Bella (new to the neighborhood) and Max, who is another neighbor’s dachshund. We got a farm box today so I decided against doing the grocery shopping until I needed it more for dinner plans. My daughter was asked to let Kayla and Abby out again at 3pm so she stayed up, and also finished up her homework for the day.. That gave me a chance to vacuum when I wouldn’t wake her up. Then she went to nap while I finished the quilt top and sewed the binding. There was just enough fabric for what I wanted to do but it was close! I washed the quilt top, which I always do, to make sure all the seams hold well. I had soaked the shower head in vinegar because it seemed to be spraying at weird angles.
Wednesday, what a gorgeous day. It’s around 70F / 20C and sunny. We enjoyed walking with Abby and Lulu. The shower head seemed fine but there was water running from the ceiling down to the shower head wall pipe. So now what? I did some chores and then created a video on the tips people gave me which I shared below. I ironed the quilt top and set up the 3 layers for the actual quilting.
“Mom I want to wear this sweater.”
Thursday, I put my hand around the shower head connection and it stayed dry when I turned on the water. I was today years old when I learned about thread tape. But that’s not where the leak is. It’s the two connection parts next to the cord the shower head connection. I ordered a new shower head and it comes with thread tape. The atomic clock needed a new battery. Then Lulu and I rushed out to walk with my daughter and Abby. I was immediately leaving for Sam’s club and remembered I hadn’t put my new tags on the Harley or the car so I did that first. I got the stuff I needed, barely had time to put it away and rush off to my eye appt. I still don’t need glasses except for reading or fine work. My eyes are healthy. I stopped at Food Lion just for milk, but they had a sale on lettuce so I got some. When I got home, while letting Lulu out, I planted seeds for carrots and spinach. The broccoli is ready to eat. I grabbed a snack for lunch (4pm) and finally to the computer stuff. I processed the salmon I got into 3 freezer meal portions.
Friday, I reacted to the busy day yesterday by listening to my audiobook until I finished this morning. I ran a couple errands, one to Aldi for a few items. Eggs are down from $4.99 to $3.61. I called about my daughter’s specialty RX to make sure they ordered it. It’s still nice today, and I walked Lulu after but I was tired. The pulmonaria (lungwort) is blooming! I did more food prep including another batch of food for Lulu. I was so tired I could barely read at bedtime.
Saturday, it’s a new day. I got to work on chores. I watched the little video and installed the new shower head. The hardest part was removing the old one. Lulu and I went for a brisk walk as it was cloudy and cooler. I wrote 3 reviews. I worked on the menu plan. My daughter’s ears still hurt so it’s probably off to the doctor on Monday.
Things I Learned This Week:
OK if I’m asking for help, I’m also going to share the cool things I learn. You may already know them but hopefully it will help someone.
Jen at That’s What I’m Talking About shared a tip on how to shelve two editions (formats):
1) Rate and review the first edition as you would any book.
2) Click on Show all X editions under the list of other editions, where X is the number of other editions in the database.
3) Click on the title of the edition you’d like to add to your shelves to visit its book page (do NOT switch to that addition).
4) On the new book edition page, scroll to the Ratings & Reviews section. There should be a . Click on the right-pointing >. From there, you’ll now see the option to review this edition.
Carole at Carole’s Random Life in Books shared how to get directly to the review:
I have figured out that the best way to pull up a review from the book page is to click on the date. (in the Reviews & Ratings section on the right side)
But since I just learned how to create a little video with Vimeo I thought I would demonstrate these techniques. I have it setup to open a new window so you can see the full screen easily.
See the short video HERE
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):
NOTHING.
(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)
I got this Audible daily deal for $3.99.
Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.
I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.
I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Anne
I was so impressed with your self-control to have no new books this week, then I realized that was just ARCs. The other books section definitely felt more relatable. 🙂
yes, the freebies don’t count too much because they are free. I actually do restrain myself and pick those carefully too. Often they are first in the series or something in a genre I might not read but want to try, or to try a new author. One of the ones this week is the third in the series by Viv Jackson. I loved the first 2 and somehow didn’t realize the third had released so I was thrilled to get it as a freebie.
I am not tech savvy so anything unusual with my blog, I grab my patient hubby!
Have a great week.

yes I am a bit tech oriented but I am ecstatic to have helpful friends and my hosting at Nose Graze.
Lulu looks like she wants that sweater lol. The quilt is looking beautiful. Enjoy your books this week.
Thanks Naida. We were surprised as she usually carries around toys but that’s the first time she brought her sweater. She has lots of sweaters and jackets. They wanted blues since it is a boy and mountains. I suggested forest animals and she said that’s ok too.
Aww, Lulu is adorable. I hope you have a great week!
Thanks AJ Lulu is the best girl.
Your weather sounds wonderful! I’m driving to my old town to see my son today and I’m sure the weather there will be at least 20 degrees warmer. I love the quilt! Have a nice week, Anne😁
Thank you Tammy. We are lucky to live in a place halfway between the mountains and ocean which makes for a more temperate weather I think. The quilt is for my niece’s new boy who lives in the mountains in Colorado.
That quilt!! It’s looking great! And of course, Lulu steals the show!
Thank you Samantha. Lulu always is so photogenic.
Saving this post in my bookmarks for when I need to add the other editions! Thanks for sharing what you found on that! Lulu is as always adorable. And I’m jealous she lets you dress her. My next dachshund I’ll have to work from the time they’re puppies to get used to clothes I guess. Hope you have a good week, oh and that quilt is beautiful!
Thank you Lisa. Lulu LOVES her sweaters. I don’t think she ever had them until we got her when she was 1.5 years old. But we took her on a trip to Iowa and it snowed and she was big on blankets and sweaters. Also she is very good about whatever we tell her to do, very accomodating. Of course, we spoil her rotten so she has no worries. yes the quilt is ready to do the actual quilting which I find the most difficult part. I love the next part where I hand sew the binding though.
Once more you have had a very busy week! And I love Lulu’s picture with the loafers!
Thanks Sophie! I don’t think the busy week is ever going to end. I mostly like to be busy but I don’t need more things to break and need repair.
Love your quilt. Your post reminded me of my own shower head. I need to replace it *sigh*
Thank you Vi! The new shower head worked just great this morning. It was easier to install than I expected; I was more worried about getting the old one off.
I picked up Body at Blackwell Lake too – missed Body & Blood which looks interesting. Your quilt looks lovely – I only made a couple when my kids were babies and a couple later but nothing for 30 years or more. Our weather is nice this weekend too and I’m headed out for a walk shortly….trying to visit a few blogs first. Have a great week.
Thank you Terrie. I saw you got the Blackwell Lake freebie too. No idea when I’ll get to it though. I should get out but it’s rainy and cold compared to the rest of the week. The rain should be good for my new plantings.
I’m hoping to d some gardening this year. I have the space t do it and the motivation (I think) I just need time. I’m doing better (kinda) adjusting to a plant based diet.
My daughter would be better at plant based than me, and she’s also the one needing the GF. We do eat quite a bit of fish. I hope more of my plants are successful.
I do eat fish, it seems to be a healthier meat choice. and lean chicken. But my doctor wants me to go plant based so the struggle continues 🙂
I read about your week and realize…I am a couch potato and a TV addict. LOL You have some fabulous looking books and I hope you enjoy them all. Oh, thanks for sharing the tips.
Thank you Sherry. I just do more reading than tv. I used to watch more but now I’d usually choose and audiobook instead.
Lulu looks so cute there. My Falcor has some sweaters and shirts he likes to wear too.
Lulu is always a star. She got her hair trimmed today.
How exciting to have more dogs in the neighborhood. I hope they all get along. Is there a dog park near you? It may be fun to take them there to play. I was just wondering how your daughter is doing – sorry to read her ears still hurt. I hope she is better soon.
It was 55F and sunny here today. I know it’s just a “false spring” but it was nice to get outside in the warmer weather.
Thanks Jen. We made a trip to the doctor today for her ears. It was really nice here today, 65, and it may be close to 80 on Thursday! So a nice week for our walks.
Sounds like a pretty good week, all in all. I love your quilt! How do you do the actual quilting (not the piecing)?
We had a few really nice days here, too, before the cold and the rain came back with a vengeance. It’s 38 and has been raining steadily all day. My lawn is so soggy, I don’t dare walk on it without wellies.
Have a great week. I’m about halfway through Hounded (the audiobook), and it’s just as good as I remember it from when I read it 10+ years ago.
Thanks Kara. I’m glad you are enjoying Hounded. Our buddy read started today. I’m not sure what exactly you are asking but I quilt using the machine. I just have to figure out the pattern I want to quilt and it goes through all 3 layers.
What a busy week zooming about for errands, fixing the shower head, your quilt, and Lulu walks! Cute pic of her with her sweater. Nice that you’re getting a grasp on some GoodReads actions. I’ve had the search function be unavailable twice this week. Grrr! Love that your orchid is budding and you got in some gardening.
Have a good week, Anne!
Thanks Sophia. It’s warming up and I’m starting to think about the garden. I’ve had the search function not be available a few times more. I’ll give you a tip. If the book you want to look at is one on your shelves you can search in MyBooks and that seems to work even when the overall search function is down.
Thanks so much for the GR tips. That always drives me crazy. Lulu is adorable, I love how she’s showing you what she wants to wear.
Thanks Wendy. Lulu is anything but stupid.
Enjoy your new books and Happy Valentine’s Day!
Thank you Jodie.
I always think that I should menu plan but I probably wouldn’t follow the plan. It is great that you were able to get out so much with Lulu and the neighbor’s dogs. I hope that your daughter is feeling better soon. Have a great week!
Thanks Carole. This week looks even warmer getting up to almost 80! We had to go back to the doctor today for more ear help.
Jen is a genius I swear!
Jen certainly is knowledgeable and a good friend.
Awww. Your dog is so cute.
Have a great week.
Thank you!
Busy week! I laughed out loud about the thread tape because I was this many days old when I learned about it… and I’m not sure I’d know what to do with it. Thankfully Kiko does maintenance for a living so I don’t have to worry about it anytime soon. I hope your daughter’s ears get squared away at the doctor! Ear infections are no fun, I think only teeth problems are worse!
Thanks Berls. At least I say I want to keep learning but sometimes I just want to go back to bed and ignore the issues. This week’s computer problem is one where I know what to do but it will be time-consuming and I have other important uses for that time. Sigh. My daughter is finally starting to feel better. She didn’t shirk her homework or her dog walking gig no matter how she felt though. (And it’s not contagious or anything).
Eggs here are like 7-10 dollars per dozen depending on the “type” of egg. I just am not eating eggs right now lol I’m considering getting a chicken, my goodness.
yes I’m glad to see our eggs have come down in price a bit. I don’t think our neighborhood allows chickens but my dad’s first job at 13 was shoveling chicken shit for his uncle’s egg produce and from what he told me I want no part of that. That was other than working in his dad’s creamery. He’s been gone for years now and that was in 1926. In 1929, he and his father started a movie theater which he went on to build a chain of them for the next 25 years, while also being in the Navy during WW2, and Korean wars.
70 degrees is some nice weather! Glad to hear you and Lulu took advantage and got outside on your walks. Our “cheap” eggs are $4.99, but there are others that are $8.99 per dozen. Crazy.
Well yes I only usually get the “cheap” eggs. I was glad to see Alsi was still $3.61 for a second week. It’s going to be 77 today! But tomorrow it’s back to rain and a couple of more winter type days of 50 / 30 for the high/low.
I’m making an effort to actually read my freebies this month. We’ll see 🙂
Why are shower heads so hard to remove??
Jill
http://www.allthebooksihaventread.com/
I may not be qualified to answer your question but my speculation is that someone stronger than me or using a power tool put the shower head on so it’s hard to turn the other way to remove, or thread tape. Today my Thrifty Thursday post is up for the upcoming month. You’re welcome to join us in trying to read some of our freebies.
Thanks for visiting!
Your quilt top is very pretty! And yes, thread tape is very needed for a lot of plumbing stuff. I have a few rolls I keep in the tool box.
Thank you. I continue to learn. Now I have my own tiny roll. Since I didn’t even know about it for all these years I think a small roll will do. I can always buy more if I’m doing a project.
Sounds like a great week. I like Donna Grant, but I haven’t seen Moon Kissed yet. Hmm, looks like I’m going back in time again. I need more hours in a day. Hope you have a great week.
Thanks Role. I could use more of that time in a day too!
We’ve had freezing temperatures the last couple nights. There’s ice on my table outside. Hopefully ice won’t cause too many accidents on the roads after the rain. It’s still fairly windy out as well. I will be glad when the winds die down. I am tired of shocking everything I touch. LOL I hope you have a great week and enjoy your reading!
Thank you Wendy. We are having some really nice weather I’ve been enjoying. I need to finish some of my craft projects so I’ll be read for the gardening next month. At least they all pair well with audio books.
