Hunted for her ability to steal time, Bay North lives a life on the run. All she wants is to make the crime lord who slaughtered her family pay. But now he’s set the ultimate hunter on her trail and Bay will need all her skills to carry out her revenge and survive.
Ex-Navy SEAL Sean Archer saw his team killed by a time thief in Afghanistan and came back a broken man. He’s made a dark deal with a criminal to hunt down all time thieves and now Sean’s tracked the wily Bay North to Denver where he plans to rid the world of one more dangerous mutation.
I’ve always been interested in the books by Anna Hackett and this was an easy start. It’s a novella, less than 100 pages. If Time Thief were a bit longer, I’m sure I would have enjoyed it even more. There would have been juts a bit more time to develop the characters and their relationship.
The science fiction aspect is the ability Bay has to steal time. Apparently there are other abilities in this world also. Otherwise, it feels like a romantic suspense with a bad situation, bad guys, and a wounded SEAL to help save the day.
By necessity, the story is fast paced. There is enough action. The main characters are focused on revenge. They don’t have complete success but this is the beginning of the Anamoly series and honestly I’d like to know more about this world. It looks like all four books in the series are under 100 pages which is my only concern, since the development will be limited.
These are only Kindle freebies I get, or ones through author newsletters which anyone can sign up and get for free. I don’t include things like Kindle Unlimited or Prime Free Reading (I do have it). Both Tantor and Audible have occasional free audios (to anyone) and I do include those. Since I one-click on 1-2 freebies a day or probably at least 5 a week, I came up with this feature to make sure I start reading them.
FYI – My Thrifty Thursday post with my reviews and the linkups and giveaway will normally post on the 3rd Thursday of the month. Sometimes though, due to blog tours, mood reading, and other personal problems, it will be moved around. There WILL be one each month on some Thursday. You can post your reviews any Thursday though on your own site. The linkup will be open until the next month’s post is published. You can easily find all the Thrifty Thursday posts under the Features tab on my top menu.
(Reminder – If I get more than 10 linkups in a month, I will randomly pick one to select a prize from a list I send them which may include gift cards or giveaway books I have. (Open International))

Even though it’s short, the story seemed to do really well with world building. Glad this freebie worked out, Anne💜
yes. Thank you. I wanted to read more freebies in this category but couldn’t get myself to do it.
I’ve been enjoying some of her sci-fi novellas now and then. This one looks good.
Sadly, this month, I only had one freebie to turn in. I was focusing on Library Love so next month I hope to do better.
I get it Sophia. I also read a LOT of library books.
I’ve been curious about Anna Hackett and I really like novellas. I like the big return on a short amount of pages. No long drawn out drama! I’ll check this one out.
I’ve read a few of hers in a couple genre and enjoyed them. I wouldn’t hesitate to read more of her work.
Hmm, I have wanted to try this author. Despite the short length, it sounds good.
I’ve found freebies as a quick way to get a taste of some authors to see if I would want to read more of their work.
Novellas are a great way to try new authors. I do love time travel so this one sounds good to me!
I liked it. I hope to try more in this series.
