This is a new feature I developed where each month we will look at our favorite – the best – series in a genre or topic.
The topic here, by my definition, is a series on audio which I have discovered and read over this past year. These are the ones which came to mind. I enjoyed some more than others.
Please share your favorites with me in the comments, also.
My favorite discoveries in Audiobook series this year are (in no particular order):
White Trash Zombie DC Smith
by Diana Rowland, narrated by Alison McLemore by Peter Grainger, narrated by Gildart Jackson
The Empryean Emily Wilde
by Rebecca Yarros, narrated by Rebecca Solar by Heather Fawcett, narrated by Ell Potter, Michael Dodds
National Park Mystery Eclipsed Evolution
by Scott Graham, narrated by Joel Richards by Kim Harrison, narrated by Xe Sands

I’ve got a couple of those on my wish list for later. I think the only new-to-me series I discovered in the past year were the New Hercule Poirot Mysteries which were pretty good once I adjusted to the narrator.
I’m currently listening to and liking the Lucas Davenport series by John Sandford. I’ve also started the Cormac Reilly series by Dervla McTiernan.
I read the available Lucas Davenport books that were available more than 10 years ago when I lived in Minnesota. I LOVE the Cormac O’Reilly books.
I’ve been eyeing those reviews and thinking I might have to try those.
That cover for White Trash Zombie is awesome. I have a long wait for Fourth Wing at the library.
The White Trash Zombie covers are by Dan dos Santos who also does the Mercy Thompson & related for Patricia Briggs. I’ve met him and he’s fabulous.
I’ve discovered some great audio series this past year, the first ones to come to mind are Lindsay Buroker’s Legacy of Magic and A Witch in Wolf Hood series, as well as the Nightmare Arizona series by Beth Dolgner. And the Shepherd Sisters series by Tracy Gardner.
I haven’t listened to any of the ones on your list, but heard great things about that Diane Rowland series and Fourth Wing.
I’ll have to check out some of your favorites. I have some stuff, even audio I think, by Lindsay Buroker and have always planned to read her books.
I should eventually Rebecca Yarro. I think I did book 2
Those are long books. I find it hard to keep up with some series.
Obviously from your list WTZ is my top since I haven’t read the others. I think I might try the Kim Harrison books at some point. I have Fourth Wing and want to read it not listen as I’m worried with it being fantasy I won’t be able to concentrate. Just need to fit it in between review books!
With a good narrator, any genre can be enhanced. I usually prefer to listen to fantasy because otherwise I spend too much time trying to figure out how to pronounce everything. But I did have a fantasy recently which was complex and I found the ebook to be necessary for me to grasp everything.
