Sunday, it’s the usual Feedly and Sunday post visiting. I’m still having trouble reading at bedtime these days. We talked about going to the Zoo this week but with the migraine and the nausea on car rides decided against it. The sink cabinet has about an inch of water in it so I took everything out. My ex said the seal of the left sink bowl was failing, which wouldn’t matter if it wasn’t also clogging again. I may have to get out the 75 foot snake again and look into sink repairs. The sink was only installed about 2 years ago. I walked Lulu and it wasn’t as humid as I expected. I did water all the plants and garden because it looks like a hot week.
Monday, I woke early but worrying about the sink issue and when to do the yard work. The weather is not too bad today and tomorrow so I need to tackle some things sooner than later. I finished up a review and some new setups after the usual blog visiting. My daughter woke with pain in her knees. She has her therapist after a 2 week vacation. I have my annual checkup. That went well with just some other screenings to do. When I got back, I got out the snake, took out the ptrap and started to snake the drain until it wouldn’t go. I tried multiple times but couldn’t get it, so I texted our neighborhood plumber/electrician, Walter.
Tuesday, I tried to get all my indoor computer work before 11:45 when Walter came. They were able to use my snake with a drill to work through the clog which was almost at the end of the kitchen drain before it went into the main pipe. After they left, I went out in the yard to pull weeds and trim plants. Then I hauled dirt to the garden where the lettuces and snow peas had been where I will plant carrots. I also put some dirt in the front flower bed. I have 5 yard waste bins out for tomorrow from trimming bushes mostly, plus weeds. I ran the dishwasher and it was nice to have it and the kitchen sink for dinner. I placed a Walmart order for pickup tomorrow since we need just a couple items and will go right by there after PT.
Wednesday, I just did not get going fast enough. I have bruises all over from the yard work yesterday. At least I don’t have the cuts and scrapes since I now have my long gardening gloves for my arms which still have open wounds from 2 weeks ago yard work. My daughter had an appt at the PT, then we stopped to use her birthday coupon at Culvers, and then the Walmart pickup. After a bit of computer time, I took Lulu for a walk and we had an early dinner. I planted carrots where the lettuce and snow peas used to be and watered the gardens.
Thursday, I was awake for awhile during the night so I didn’t get going too early. I helped my daughter with her sheets to launder them. Today is the first day in about 6 weeks she hasn’t had a migraine!! It has finally broken. She has had short periods for a few hours but this is the first day she has started out well. We are having a low key day at home. I took Lulu for her walk before things heated up too much. The temps have been mid 80s / 30C with a moderate humidity, the next week starting tomorrow will be 90s / 33C and higher humidity. And by 2pm she was having a migraine again. I’ll need to do some watering and probably slightly less yard work unless it’s a day with lower humidity. UGH. I made a good task list but working on it is going so slowly today. I did visiting, wrote a review, edited and scheduled a bunch of posts. I worked on a menu plan with some success.
Friday, I walked Abby and Lulu at the normal time and though it’s going to get hot later, it wasn’t as bad as I expected. I did my blog visiting, then I went over to Costco. I shopped for a few things, then I cancelled my membership. They said it’s good until June 30. We also have BJ and Sam’s Club and we don’t need all 3. Costco is the most expensive. I go there the least even though it’s closest to our home and they are the only one which doesn’t do curbside. I picked up one of the new Triple Berry Frosty on the way home for my daughter since she’s wanted to try one. I got everything put away. Lulu was licking her foot so we had to put the bootie on her foot. She doesn’t like it but her foot needs protecting. My daughter is setting up her new computer. She doesn’t like that Windows 11 won’t let her have the task bar on the top. I found an app to put it on the top but it crashes the computer .
Saturday, another hot day but with moderate humidity and north winds. Another day where my daughter doesn’t have a migraine in the morning. There hasn’t been a full 24 hours yet but it’s getting closer. I do a combination of chores and computer tasks. My daughter is still restoring her backup. I worked on looking at options on the everything on sale at Audible. I took Lulu on her walk before dinner.

Not Yet.
Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.
I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.
I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

Trouble in Queenstown looks interesting! My sister works at Costco so I have a membership through her that I don’t have to pay for and doesn’t expire but I mainly just go there to get gas. I get frustrated going in the store.
That’s cool that you have that option. I have electric hybrid so I never use gas except a couple times of year for a long trip. My hybrid goes 60 miles a day before it needs gas. Sams and BJs have curbside so I use them more.
I had an old laptop windows 8.1 and am not looking forward to getting a new one and trying to learn how windows 11 works.
I was surprised how easy it was for me to go from 10 to 11 and I fought it for a couple years. My older laptop runs 10 and can’t go to 11. My oldest laptop might be v 7. I dislike change if what I have is working well.
I am glad that your daughter had a two good mornings! You gotta take the wins, no matter how big or small. Hopefully she gets to a full day migraine free soon. 🙂
Take care and have a good week!
Thank you Erin. It is an improvement.
Lulu is looking cute as always😁 I personally couldn’t survive without Costco, but I don’t go to the other two stores so I can’t compare them. Have a great week, Anne, and good luck with the humid weather😁
Thank you Tammy. While it has been hot, it hasn’t been as humid as I was afraid of so far.
My problem with the warehouse stores and to some degree any stores is how when we find a gluten free product we can use it’s short term. A few years ago I would have said BJs had the most GF products and oddly now I think Sam’s club does. Costco has a very few but they are not the ones we like or they were very short term.
You’ll have to start doing your gardening in the morning if you get the humidity like we’re getting right now! I’ve never had a Costco membership, go with my mom if I need something. Used to have a Sam’s Club, but don’t even have that anymore for just me. Love Lulu pics always. Glad your daughter is getting a little relief from the migraines, I hope it continues to get better for her!
Thank you Lisa. I have to find neighbors who I can share with for the 2-3 times a year I want something from Costco. I hope this week continues to be more migraine relief.
I haven’t listened to an audio book for a while and must get back to it! Good luck with gardening. It’s out of the question for us this entire week as the temps will be in the mid to high 90s. Have a good reading week.
yes we’ll be 90s but what I need to do I will have to do early or late or on days where the humidity is lower. Sadly we will be 90s mostly now until mid to late August. I’m falling asleep at bedtime so I’ve struggled with print or ebooks. Audio is most of what I’m managing right now.
Audiobooks put me right to sleep. I must remember that when I have insomnia, smile.
I used to get migraines and I know how horrible they are. I hope your daughter continues to get relief from them.
Thank you Bonnie. It’s been a real stress for us over the 6 weeks this has been happening. I’m just glad that somehow it’s finally improving a bit.
I glad your daughter has some relief from her migraine at least for now. Yardwork is a pain and summer does not make it pleasent to do at all. I glad the sink was able to be unclogged i always find it a pain and hubby always seems to be gone when it happens. Have a great week.
Thank you. We’ve been sort of stressed and just doing the best we can. I do all the yardwork and home repairs. I don’t mind the yardwork but I have to look at the heat and humidity to plan the best time and sometimes break it into pieces.
We have a Costco Membership but I rarely use it. The store is crowded and I’m not sure it’s that much of a savings. Happy to hear your daughter is having longer periods migraine free! I have a bunch of weeding to do. I get so dirty and banged up as well!
I think you have to need quantities to make the membership effective or be making a big purchase like we just got our mattresses and new kitchen faucet. I do a little weeding every morning when I take Lulu out and so it’s when I do the big projects of bush trimming and taking out thorns that get me damaged. The lawn mowing trimming and edging gets me filthy too. I still have dirt to move from a pile on the driveway into beds too.
Costco is such a nightmare for people like me-hearing impaired and high anxiety. So many people, so much noise, bordering on chaos. I can’t do it. It is always so crazy there. And, there is only like 1 in the Cincinnati area, so EVERYONE is there all the time. Ugh. Glad your daughter got some relief from her migraine even if it was short lived.
Thanks, she’s getting a better start to each day now but so far hasn’t made it to 24 hours free. yes but it’s the industrial size of things and the turnover of products that I dislike.
Glad your sink was able to be unclogged and you got in so much garden work to fill five barrels. That is fab news about your daughter getting some breaks from the migraines. A few years back, I made the decision to let the Costco membership go to save money since we didn’t go as often. This week will be hot for us, too. Hope you have a good one, Anne!
Thanks Sophia. It will be hot but the humidity will tell the real story. My daughter is getting some breaks but hasn’t made it 24 hours free yet. But even the breaks are an improvement.
I’m glad to hear your daughter’s migraine is starting to let up sometimes. And that you were able to get your sink unclogged. I hope you can get someone in to fix the seal, too.
I’m always amazed at your energy, and how much you can get done in a day! Especially in your garden. And of course, I always love the Lulu photos.
Thank you Kara. It doesn’t feel like much or enough that I get done. Especially when it takes weeks to do some things. My daughter is having a much better week and has managed 24 hours without a migraine now. The sink seems all fixed now. I sneak in the garden work in the morning when I let Lulu out or after dinner when she goes out, at least the small stuff. I have to plan the bigger, messier projects like mowing and moving dirt.
Glad your daughter’s migraines are chilling out a bit. What did she think of that triple berry frosty?
Thanks Jinjer. Both the migraines and the nausea are better. We both like the frosty. I really prefer the blueberry shake at CookOut which I think is primarily a southern chain.
I’m so glad your daughter’s been headache free for a little bit. I hope it lasts. After all the craziness of my daughter’s graduation, I can’t believe a whole week has already passed. I was busy with work and it all went really well. The weather has been fabulous, so I’ve been outside. I even got in my walks this week!
Thanks Jen. She has had much more migraine free days this week! So glad you could enjoy all your events, and now fabulous weather. I think the heat up is on the way though.
I hope your daughter continues to feel better from her migraines. No headache days are great to hear. I’m at Costco all the time. We have BJ, too, but rarely use it. I never had Sam’s. I’m not even sure where there is one close to us. Costco is good for us since we also use their pharmacy. I hope you have a great week!
Thank you. My daughter’s migraine has been absent this week more. I’m glad to hear you use Costco. We just found better options for us at Sams and BJs.
I was glad your daughter managed to get a bit of relief from her never-ending migraine – and really sorry when it started up again. She must be at her wit’s end… And what a relief to get the blockage in the sink unclogged – things like that are a complete pain. I’m still sticking with Windows 10 – I thoroughly understand it inside and out and don’t particularly want or need to move to Windows 11. But I suppose there’ll come a time when I’ll have to grapple with it. I hope the weather doesn’t get too hot or humid this coming week, Anne:)).
Thank you Sarah. She’s had a pretty good week. The PT has been a big help, also with the nausea the migraine was causing on car rides. I wanted to stick with Windows 10 but had to remember to push it off and eventually forgot. It hasn’t been as traumatic as I thought. But my daughter really wanted her task bar at the top which it doesn’t allow.
Migraines are the worst! It’s the reason my reading and blogging has slowed down so much this year. Glad to hear she got some relief this week. Hoping for longer periods for her. That’s miserable!
Hopefully, the weather will be a little cooler for you this week.
Thanks Lillian. Migraines are the worst. This one lasted SIX weeks until this week when she has had 24 hours without one. The PT really helped, also with the nausea on car rides from it. She had dry needling which seemed to make the final push. I think this week will get hotter as we go but the humidity has been moderate so not as bad as I expected.
Hi Lulu! We have a BJs membership and I go all the time for greens and fruit. Every once in a while I get the pre packaged chicken breast it’s way less expensive in the long run than the supermarket.
Hopefully there’s more migraine free days ahead.
Thank you Naida. I hope she gets more migraine free days also. I like the meats and produce at BJs.
You and your daughter are going through so much with her health challenges. I hope that she starts to get some long last relief soon.
Thank you Jodie. My daughter took off this 8 week school session to try to get her meds and treatments adjusted to improve things. The gastro (new med plus Lactaid tablets) is much better. The migraine which last 6 weeks has finally stopped and she is using more preventative treatments plus PT to help. The PT is also working on her joint and muscle issues. So if we can keep the migraines away it’s an improvement.
We don’t have a Costco or Sam’s Club membership. We tried Costco once, but it wasn’t worth it for us. We have a WinCo, which is similar but with no membership fee, that is closer. We don’t go often, but it’s an option. My mom uses the base commissary and will sometimes pick things up for us. We just got a notice from our HOA saying we need to pain the trim on our house. After the bee fiasco, we aren’t looking forward to having another huge bill to pay. When it rains, it pours. Echo and Trouble in Queenstown both sound good! I hope you are having a great week!
Thank you Wendy. It’s had a few ups and downs. But my daughter has kept from the migraines so that is a big win. I found out the neighbor has Costco membership and we can go with her anytime to get stuff so I’m even more glad I cancelled it. The HOA just emailed me that I had to move the tarp (rest of the dirt under it) or face a fine of $100 per day, so I had to go out and do that yesterday. It was like 90 but the humidity wasn’t bad. It was the first day without errands and medical appts all week.
