The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.
Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.
Sunday, I woke early. When I let Lulu out, I picked the green beans. There was the usual blog visiting, emails, writing a review, and editing/scheduling posts. I didn’t want to go anywhere but I dropped off an Amazon return, then RX from Harris Teeter, the Farmer’s Market and then a pickup at BJs. I wanted to finally watch some Olympics this weekend and found everything was removed from Peacock August 14 or 21, so I never got to watch any. We are having scattered showers today before the cool down for this week. Neither of us felt like eating a big meal so we ate some leftovers with the green beans and watched another Joan Hickson version Miss Marple show.
Monday, the rain last night has brought the temperatures down. I started with finishing my audiobook. Next I set up some posts and wrote a review. I finally did a menu plan for this week. My daughter and I walked Lulu.
Tuesday, the weather is still so nice. My daughter and I walked Lulu to the pool and back. Then I mowed the back yard and pulled weeds, trimmed plants. After a shower, I wrote a couple reviews.
Wednesday, I slept later than I expected. My back was a little achy until I got going. At noon, we packed up to go to my daughter’s therapy appt. We brought Lulu along, so Lulu and I went on a long walk while my daughter was in her appt. We did a Walmart pickup on the way home. Marley arrived after dinner.
Thursday, another gorgeous day. After breakfast, I took Lulu and Marley on the longest and hilliest walk in the neighborhood. I’m trying to do some computer stuff with two dogs trying to get in my lap. We went to the neurologist appt and they are changing her from one migraine preventative to a different one. On the way home, we got our COVID boosters and I also got a Pneumonia shot. I was tired and went to sleep early.
Friday, I felt lazy so I took the dogs out and then we ate breakfast. Then I took them out again. Marley zoomed around and Lulu puttered. I visited blogs, and wrote a couple reviews. They have my daughter’s new RX in so I’ll have to run for that and a stop at another garden center while I am out. I reviewed the NC Extension service for what can be planted in September. I did the menu plan for next week. We watched about 1.5 hours of Miss Marple which is the length of one episode, while constantly petting the dogs. We struggled to walk Lulu and Marley to the corner. During dinner, my daughter and I looked at each other and said “can we go to bed now?” This was barely after 7 and we gave up around 8pm.
Saturday, it was a wet morning but still nice. My COVID arm is fine but the Pneumonia one is still stiff. I did the usual visiting and emails. I made a chart to figure out what to plant next. I ended up planting Lettuces and Broccoli plants, Beet and Spinach seeds. I decided the days to harvest was too long for green beans and snow peas. I watered all the gardens. It was getting warm so I stopped for the day plus still tired. I need to look at the edging and when I’m doing the weed and feed too.
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):
Big thanks to Kensington Publishing, Penguin Audio, Macmillan Audio (2).
(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)
I purchased this Audible daily deal for $1.99. I bought the Inspector Morse audio for $2.99 at Chirp.
Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.
I got a huge number of freebies on the Stuff You Ereader day. And also these freebies from Chirp on Freebie Friday.
I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.
I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

I need to set up our appointments for our vaccines. The last time I got a pneumonia shot the area got all swollen and warm, which they told me was normal. It hurt too! I need to get the updated one this year, blah. I always get wiped out from vaccines too. 🙂 I hope you feel more like yourselves soon!
It’s weird. I usually have no reaction to vaccines.
Lots of cutie pie Lulu💜
I’ve not heard of your audio ARC authors so I’m looking forward to seeing your reviews. Have a great reading week, Anne!
Thanks Jonetta. I’m looking forward to trying them.
Those Covid boosters can really knock you out! I love the photos of the dogs. Hope you have a good week😁
Thanks Tammy. I usually don’t have any problems and mostly I’m just tired. I really enjoy the dogs.
You still get COVID boosters Anne? Here they don’t talk about vaccines for COVID anymore so I wonder….
I don’t know Sophie. There is a surge right now of COVID. I think perhaps in Europe people got vaccines early on but I don’t know that it would keep immunity more than 4-6 months so maybe enough people there have had COVID to have some immunity. From the epidemiologists, I read the virus keeps mutating so I don’t know how much immunity can be developed so we keep getting the boosters.
Sounds like a mostly quiet and productive week. I miss having a late planting season like I did living in California. Oh yeah, shots get me a bit tired and its weird how sometimes I feel the affected area and sometimes not a thing. Hope you’re back in the swing soon. Lovely batch of books in your weekly haul. I liked the Grim Reaper one and your freebie Maids of Misfortune.
Have a good week, Anne!
Thanks Sophia. Not a bad week and I did get some really great ARCs.
Technically the Covid shots aren’t vaccines, that’s why they have to do the boosters. Sounds like you had a busy week! It’s awesome that you’re doing all that gardening. I have such a black thumb, that would be a no for me! You got a lot of great books. John Scalzi is coming to KC the beginning of October, I’m excited to hear him speak and meet him because I really liked The Kaiju Preservation Society. Always love Lulu pics too! She seems to get along well with the other dogs, that is so nice I’m sure!
I forgot to say that I didn’t know they took the Olympics off, I was going to go back and watch some more! Boo!
Thanks Lisa. I’m glad to be able to do some gardening. It doesn’t always go well. I know, I was so so sad not to have seen more but I was just too busy when they were available.
I was just thinking about getting my vaccines scheduled! Glad you had nice weather this week!
Thanks, I hope you do get your vaccine. The weather has seemed to take a change for the better last week and this one at least. I hope if we do get more heat it’s only a couple days, not a whole week.
The last two Covid boosters I got I had no reactions at all than fully. Lulu is so darn cute.
Thank you Mary. Of course, we think Lulu is the cutest.
Lots of fun books to read! 🙂
Have a great week and happy reading!
Stormi
I got the COVID booster w/the flu shot last weekend and I was tired for a couple days. The first day my arm really hurt. I always have a strong reaction to any vaccinations and monoclonal antibodies because when I get my Prolia shot, I feel flu-ish. Fun times! All in all better than illnesses. The Grim Reapers Guide to Catching a Killer looks interesting!
yes Victoria, we both felt tired. I actually felt like crushing exhaustion for a couple days but seem better now. I usually have little or no adverse effects though.
Thank you Stormi. I think I do get the best books but they are the ones I request because I want to read. I’m on a heavy reading of mystery / thrillers right now, things that have an ending and conclusion.
I need to schedule my Covid booster, but I dread it because I always feel like crap for 2 days after. Not as bad as the shingles vaccine though, thank goodness! Hope your arm feels better. I just did some planting for fall. We’ll see if they turn out.
I debated Rachel but I asked my daughter and we decided to just do it. I’ve never felt so tired after a shot. But we wanted to get it done with COVID surging these days. Of course if it only lasts 3-4 months we may start to lose protection about the time of the next surge. I hope my fall plantings come up. I haven’t had good luck with spinach seeds but the plants did great. I couldn’t get plants anywhere though.
This made me smile: I’m trying to do some computer stuff with two dogs trying to get in my lap.
Thanks Jinjer. It’s the way it is. Lulu is used to it but Marley is distressed when I shut her out of the bathroom. lol
I had the pneumonia short and didn’t have any reaction to it. Next is the flu shot. Then, I get the Covid boosters. They wanted me to get the pneumonia and flu shots first because there’s been alot of it going around this area. Your books all look good. I hope you enjoy them. Have a great week!
Thanks Yvonne. I usually have no reaction but I was SO tired. Maybe because I got 2 at once? But I usually get flu and Covid at the same time. We are getting the flu one in October we decided.
Canada has yet to approve the new COVID vaccines and I am anxiously waiting . I hope the new medication works for your daughter. Have a great week Anne!
Thanks Jodie. I really hope the new meds work for her. She’s had such a rough time. She reacts more to vaccines than me. And now she’s got a double ear infection.
I have an appointment to get my flu shot in a couple of weeks. I am not sure if I am up to date with COVID shots. I will need to take a look. I had a terrible reaction the last time I had a flu shot. Hopefully, I will do better this time. It sounds like you had your hands full with the 2 dogs this week. Two of mine like to wrestle but they are all too big to sit in my lap. Have a great week!
Thanks Carole. I doubt you’ve had this COVID booster as it has only been available since Sep 1 and combats the newer strains. We aren’t having our flu shot until October. I normally have no reaction but I was SO tired for a couple days. Oh Marley’s too big for the lap but that doesn’t seem to be a reason for her to stop trying. lol
My husband and I are flying out for a 20th anniversary trip soon and I want to get our vaccines scheduled before we go. I guess I should get on that. We’ll both get the flu shot but he says he doesn’t want another covid shot. This was in the middle of the football game yesterday so I didn’t get to ask him why not. He’s gotten them all to this point. I’ll get mine though last year’s covid booster knocked me down with flu-like symptoms for 24 hours. That was pretty rough. I had been mostly fine with all the previous ones.
Such cute doggies! Enjoy your week!
Thank you Jen. I usually have no reaction to shots but this time made me very tired for a couple days. We won’t do flu shots until October. The dogs are really good girls. Unfortunately we can’t pet or walk them all day. They have to relax and entertain themselves for a bit. lol They love the attention. I hope you have a great trip!
We got a little relief from the heat last night with a thunderstorm that came through. I heard it created more fires and didn’t help with the one in the county over. The air quality is horrible right now. We are expecting cooler temperatures the middle of this week, so that’s at least good news. I took some time off work this week for my birthday and Mouse has an optometry appointment on Wednesday. I swear to myself I would not check my work phone at all these three days I am off, and so far I have mostly kept to that. Maxie Dara’s book looks like it will be a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy your week and reading!
Thank you Wendy. I hope you’ll be enjoying your time off and birthday. Wishing you that cooler weather too. We are having it, typical weather for this month and I love it. 75-80 days, 60 nights.
Oh, that’s too bad that Peacock removed the Olympic stuff. I’m surprised they didn’t keep it for a while longer. We are leaving tomorrow for our trip, so this is my last checkin for a few weeks. I’ll get my COVID and flu vaccines when we get home, so hopefully I stay healthy on the trip!
Thanks Jen. I thought at least we would get a month for Olympics! I can’t wait to hear more about your trip. I wouldn’t travel without the Covid booster but you’re younger than me.
Hope both vaccine arms are feeling better! I’m going to get my updated Covid booster soon and book them for the rest of the family as well. It’s been a bit cooler this past week which has been really nice. Now I just need to mosquitos to go away! I hope you’re having a wonderful week!
Thank you Katherine. One was better quickly but the other arm took a few more days. That’s unusual as I have never had any issues. Mostly I just felt exhausted. We’ve been having great weather. It went from 90s to right around 80 and low humidity and has stayed that way now. Either the mosquitos don’t love me or the golf course sprays for them or something as they don’t seem too bad.
Sounds like a quieter week. I am also super excited for You Can Kill. Hope you have a wonderful week.
Thank you. A quiet week is a good week for me to get small projects finished.
OMG I am so far behind in commenting D:
I try to keep up each day but I don’t always manage it.
