The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.  Thrifty Thursday Challenge ends tonight!

Sunday,  well the peace ended with Abbey barking for about 45 minutes last night til about 11:30. Then Lulu, who never barks started with a few disconnected woofs between 6:30-6:45am.  I did Sunday visiting, got some reviews edited and scheduled.  Then it’s time to walk the dogs before the big thunderstorm and also pick up supplies for the outdoor projects the next 2 days when the weather will still be quite warm. We unloaded lumber and other supplies.   I replied to comments and did other minor blog setups.  I was able to go in and purchase my daughter’s book for her class which starts Jan 6th.  We watched some Vera after dinner.

Monday, I managed to get my sheets changed and hair washed and braided, and to let the dogs out before there was barking.  Everything went fine until we went up to the office and when Abbey got at the top of the stairs and looked out windows to bark at whatever was in the street.  I rushed them into the office and closed the door. My daughter finally got up and we handled a few things.  Then I took off on errands.  I went to Joanns to find a cushion to make the couch higher and it took forever.  Then I went to Aldi, Trader Joes and Sam’s Club in the same amount of time.  Aldi had the seasonal veggies we love so I got those.  At Trader Joes, they had to go in back to get the GF pizza dough I wanted.  After I had things put away,  we walked the dogs.  The weather is great.  My ex is working on some of my garden beds to make them higher.

Tuesday, I tried to get my various tasks finished. I walked Abbey and Lulu together at 10am. Then we had to leave for an appt for my daughter to have a procedure to remove an ingrown toenail.  It went pretty well and she didn’t have too much pain afterward. We came straight home. I walked the dogs again.  I went out into the yard to put compost into the taller bed. I pulled more weeds, and got the herb garden ready to have taller sides also.  I’d hoped all 3 beds could be updated by today but only one is ready.  Now the weather is going to just get colder and then colder.  We watched more Vera and then the neighbor came to pick up Abbey just after 10.

Wednesday,  I wanted to relax today but there’s too much to do. I set up a bunch of January posts.  I realized I hadn’t set up Thrifty Thursday posts for 2025 so I did that. I wanted to relax today but instead had a rush of chores. Laundry, garbage/recycle, help my daughter with her foot, cooking, and more.  I didn’t sit down for hours.  After dinner though, we did sit and watch Vera.

Thursday, I have the computer tasks to do this morning.  In the afternoon, my daughter has a med appt, then we have to pick up an Rx at a special pharmacy. Next was to Ulta for a special face lotion but the one on our normal route didn’t have it and we had to go to one 5 miles out of the way.  Luckily my ex put dinner on the stove since we didn’t get home until after 6.   We ate and watched Vera.  And there’s a new season just out.

Friday, today is about like yesterday but a bit warmer with a south wind.  It’s the last day in the 50s / 10C+ for the next 10 days. The next week or so is mostly chilly north winds too.  I set to work on the usual stuff.  I wrote some reviews, responded to emails and comments. My daughter and her Dad when to the Art Museum which she really enjoys.   I really wanted to do yard work but the afternoon turned cold and very strong winds.  I did walk Lulu with the neighbor and Abbey. I worked on stuff for the Read-along. We ate and watched Vera,  then when my daughter went to call her friend. So her father and I watched Shetland.

Saturday,  I slept late. I worked a lot on the Read-along stuff.  Then we opened Christmas presents from my ex.  Afterward, even though it was cold my daughter and I walked Lulu. It was sunny and not too windy but colder than we liked.  Then I got to work on more setup for the 2025 Read-along.  It’s going to be a very cold week with 40s / 5C for highs and 20s / -7C  for lows.

2025 Audiobook Challenge

So I decided I would do the audio challenge this year.  I haven’t done it the last couple years because I felt like I had too many challenges.  But this one is a key thing I track anyway.   If you want to learn more about the challenge or sign up you can do that HERE

I used to be half and half between ebooks and audiobooks each year.  But in 2024,  I upped the percentage of audiobooks. It’s a format I really appreciate.  Still, I’m going to go for the

I Can’t Hear You (earbuds always in) 125-150

because I love that name!

December Reading:  I had another good reading month.  I managed to read 18 books. Audiobooks continue to help me read more. Some count for more than one challenge.  The numbers are December 18/ 279  total for 2024

  • Audiobooks         12/ 171
  • Library books      8/   62
  • COYER                17/ 231
  • Owned books      2/    58

All Library books (including ones not reviewed on the blog)  2024 Library Love Challenge (seems to be displaying the Goodreads challenge instead of the Library one. Try this HERE

I did manage to read 2 books I own (goal is 3 per month):

  • A Texas Christmas Miracle by Justine Davis
  • Holiday Heroes by Regan Black, Janie Crouch

My Goodreads Year in Books HERE

I don’t know how they chose these but I had more 5 heart books!

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by  Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

My sincere thanks to Penguin Audio.

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

NONE.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

Chirp Friday freebies:

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

  1. You got so much done this week, whew! We had some nice mild days for me to slip in a winter raking of leaves blown in and clear out a cabinet in the garage, but then the deep freeze temps forced me inside and cold symptoms hit again. Sweet job on your reading numbers. Cheering you on with your audio goals this year.

    Have a good week, Anne!

  2. Yep, it’s cold out there. My garage door is currently frozen shut. It’s a good thing I don’t need to go anywhere. Your dogs are adorable! I have gotten so many freebies lately that it’s too many to put on the blog. I’m not even sure if I’ll get around to reading them.

    Have a great week!

  3. So many great books! I hope to catch up on the Hollow’s series this year. I’m so close! I hope you are staying warm. I just say a headline that my area is headed toward another drought, which isn’t surprising. We’re expecting strong winds the next few days. I had hoped to get some blog prep done this past week, but it wasn’t meant to be. I have barely been reading the last couple days, just trying to fit it in when I can. Hopefully that will change soon. I hope you have a great week, Anne! Happy New Year!

  4. Sounds like Abbey riles Lulu up a bit! Sounds like you had a productive week in the garden. I hope to get my seedlings started inside this week for the upcoming season. I usually only do one or two reading challenges and I don’t keep track of them very well through the year either, haha!

  5. Happy New Year! Sounds like you had a productive week. I watched football and got the Christmas decorations put away. We had our annual get together with the neighbors for NYE. It’s gotten really cold here and I’ve been slacking on my walking. I need to try to find something I’ll do indoors, or invest in some thermo gear! Today’s high is 20F (feels like 8). Brrr.

  6. I’m almost done with The Rainfall Market and enjoying it though it is not quite what I expected. I’m hoping to start reading the Vera series this year and watch the show. Both sound wonderful. Hope you are having a great week and are staying warm!

  7. Sweet Lulu💜 Is she wearing some of her new Christmas presents? Looking pretty cute.

I can’t figure out how to get those Goodreads views. When I clear on my year in books, I get something entirely different.
