The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.
Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.
Sunday, I got up a bit early to get things going before the neighbor brought Abbey to us. Then I drove her to the airport. Lulu is doing fine now with some allergy pills and cream. We spent some time in the office. Then we went out into the yard. Abbey and Lulu sniffed around and I watched to make sure they didn’t eat weeds. I planted the spinach plants and watered the gardens. We walked and the weather was so nice.
Monday, it rained overnight but is clear today. The temperature is dropping, 25 degrees already. I got up early and successfully got the dogs out, fed with no barking . I had discovered a book I bought ( a freebie) was actually the third book in the series instead of the second (the cover was the second). Since there was an update available, I guessed correctly if I updated I would actually get the second book. So I read the third book, updated and now I’m reading the second book. So weird. I made calls on my auto insurance and the computer part, which took too long. They had no record of my computer warranty claim from January 22. I wrote a review. We walked Abbey and Lulu and it was cold. I made a big pot of soup for dinner.
Tuesday, the coldest rainiest day. It was light rain when we went out first thing, so Lulu actually pooped which is a miracle. She doesn’t even like to pee outside when it’s rainy. Gah I have a new kind of moody about reading. I only feel interested in existing TBR and books I already bought or are in series I am already reading. The new shiny reads are too much effort or something. It’s bound to change. So Jetpack is being wonky about connecting to Mastodon and now Instagram. Luckily I just switched the auto sharing to those socials over to FS Poster which is working well. We picked up my daughter’s new glasses, then went to her med appt, and last a curbside pickup at BJs. After I put stuff away, we ate lunch and worked in the office. It was too wet to walk.
Wednesday, happily there was a break in rain when I let the dogs outside. I worked on writing reviews and setting up some posts. I kept waiting all day to see the rest of my daughter’s Rx would be filled. Finally, I got a text it was ready, but the online system showed it as still on hold. I called and it was ready so I went to get it plus 2 items on sale. I continue to send daily emails to my representatives in Congress who are abdicating their rights of appropriation to the unelected and unvetted, as well as ignoring their duty to uphold the constitution.
Thursday, another successful morning of getting the dogs out, fed and napping in the office without barking to wake my daughter. My daughter had an appt with her nutritionist. Then we walked the dogs and the weather was nice with the south wind and warmer temperatures. I checked the plantings from the class last week that are in the greenhouse and they are all up and growing! It’s too soon for the seeds I planted in the ground, only 4-5 days instead of 8.
Friday, Happy Valentine’s Day. We are enjoying a quiet day at home with temperatures in the upper 40s and a north wind and sunshine. It looks like it will rain all weekend. I’ve been doing better with my reading than last month and catching up on things a bit. We applied online to update my daughter’s passport. We walked with the neighbor and Abbey. It was 15 degrees colder than yesterday but still not too bad. I checked the plantings in the greenhouse and they are all like a fur carpet of green. I set up more reviews for new ARCs.
Saturday, I got all the cleaning started. Then I walked Lulu before my daughter was awake because it would rain by noon. We ran into my neighbor and Abbey. I worked on a lot of review setups and wrote some reviews. The upcoming week will be colder again; a couple days with the HIGHs around freezing.
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):
Many thanks to Tantor Audio, Berkley Romance (2), Atlantic Monthly Press.
(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)
I purchased this for $2 with Whispersync.
Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.
Chirp Friday freebies:
I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.
I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

That’s so cool that the greenhouse plants are sprouting already. We had a lot of rain last week but no snow, thankfully. This week will be warmer and clear. Have a good week!
Thanks Tammy. This week will be colder here so we will see.
Goodness those seedlings are thriving! Hopefully the weather cooperates when it comes time for replanting.
Wishing you a happy reading week
Thank you. They will need at least this week in the greenhouse because we will have freezing temperatures several nights.
Glad to hear that Lulu is feeling better! And she is adorable in that sweater. I wish my two dogs would let me dress them, they’d be so cute! Looks like you got the upcoming Lynn Painter one too, I can’t wait to fit it into my reading schedule closer to the pub date, I think it will be right before my cruise in July! Have a good week!
Thank you Lisa. It’s going to be another cold week. It’s so weird because they predicted warmer than normal here and it’s been colder. I hope the warmer than normal isn’t for the summer!
We’ve been getting a lot of snow and wintery mix lately – the most we’ve had in 3 or 4 years. SO lots of shoveling and staying inside. I picked up my daughter from college on Friday because she’s sick – low grade flu probably. She had the vaccine, so I hope that’s helping keeping her from getting really sick. She had covid in September and the booster. Poor girl has had a time of it. But with her home, we’ve been able to catch up on shows that we watch together.
It’s great you are having the time together and you have an extra day for her to feel better with the holiday tomorrow? We are going to get another round of cold this week. Today is 65 but extremely windy. But midweek we may get 2 days with highs about freezing and maybe even snow. Each week gets my hopes up for more normal weather for this time of year but not yet. I keep loving my wool / alpaca socks and sweatshirts. They predicted warmer than usual winter but it’s been colder than usual.
Sounds like a busy but productive week! Glad to hear Lulu is doing better, and it’s always nice when the weather cooperates for walks. That book mix-up sounds frustrating but at least you got it sorted out—definitely weird when that happens!
Thanks Carla. The book thing was very weird but at least I got to read it.
I am so glad that Lulu is feeling better with the pills and cream! And I also bought a book out of order LOL
Thank you Sophie. We hate Lulu to have any issues.
It got cold here today and its suppose to be in the teens all week. Thankfully, I am leaving Ohio for Seattle and won’t be back until its in the 40’s again! The plants are looking great!
You lucked out on the timing being gone for another blast of cold. We will just stay in mostly and wait it out. Have an amazing trip.
I’m glad to hear the allergy pills are helping Lulu. Your upcoming books look good. I hope you like them. Have a great week!
Thank you! She only needed the allergy pills for a couple days.
I think we’re going into some more bitter cold weather here in the next few days. Luckily I have indoor cats – my friends with dogs are saying how they don’t want to go out at all! I think I read other books by Andrew Mayne and enjoyed them – hope you like your reads this week!
Thank you Becki. I read Andrew Mayne for the first time late last year and I really enjoyed his work. I read that usually there are 2-3 polar vortexes per winter and this week is #10.
That’s good your plants are doing well and Lulu is feeling better. She looks cozy with her collared sweater. Enjoy your books!
Thank you Naida. It wasn’t meant to be a collared sweater. She used to be heavier so now it’s a little big. I put it in the dryer and now it fits pretty well but it’s like it has a collar now.
I’m on the plane waiting while they de-ice the wings for takeoff! Your seedlings look great! Mine were rootibound when I left so when I get home I need to transplant them into bigger containers. Yes, it’s insane that the unelected is implementing all this crap! I’m terrified every time I read the news.
We’re heading into polar vortex #10 so I’d wait a week before transplanting outside unless you aren’t getting it. The news is so horrifying.
No, I won’t be transplanting outside. I have to move to bigger pots and keep them inside until middle of March. Forgot to say those camellias are beautiful!
Awww, poor Lulu, I’m so glad to hear she’s feeling better now! And great job on those seedlings. My own plants have been a little neglected lately. 😬Have a great week ahead!
Thank you. We are excited about planting even though not everything will work out. It’s trial and error to find the best practices even with reading and taking classes. yes Lulu is fine. She just needed allergy pills for a couple days. I’m not sure what weed she got into in the yard.
Hope you enjoy the new books, as ever! That looks like a fun mix.
Thank you Nicky.
It looks like your greenhouse plants are doing well. We enjoyed a little rain last week, although it did cause some flooding in areas because there was so much of it in a short amount of time. Now the temperatures are warming up. Amber Gambler looks interesting. I’ll have to check out the first in the series. I hope you enjoy your reading and have a great week, Anne!
Thank you Wendy. I’m hoping this latest polar vortex ends quickly and we don’t have anther this year.
It’s nice to see you have seedlings already germinated! That means spring may be coming soon. Have a great week.
We will hope Jodie. This week won’t be good but they need more time anyway.
Sweet Lulu💜 Love the outfits you have for her.
What are you growing? Wish I had a green thumb. Have a great reading week, Anne!
Thank you. I knit that sweater myself. It’s a little big because she has lost weight. The seed plantings from the class are collards, kale, and lettuce. It seems to work so we may do it again.
New plant life!! How exciting!! I need to try to start a few seeds but I think it is still too early in Michigan. The past few years have been very cold in months when it normally would not have been. I think I might still go for it! Have a great week!
yes I read yesterday that normal years have 2-3 polar vortexes and this week is #10 for this year. It is probably too early for MI or Minnesota. Here February is when cool crops get planted because it may get too hot for them anytime between April-July. There’s a really long season here for warm crops compared to the north also.
I’m glad Lulu is not as scratchy and that is very interesting about the 1st / 2nd / 3rd book and about your latest mood reading preferences.
WE always want Lulu well and comfortable. We got snow yesterday and she hates it.
My condolences on another cold spell coming. We’ve apparently had the uptick the weathermen promised, a couple of days of very watery sunshine and now we’re back to the usual gloom, though this time with rain instead of the bitter easterlys. Thank you for the pics of your lovely little seedlings, promising better days ahead:)). I hope this is proving to be a good week, Anne.
Thanks Sarah. We are having a really cold week. I hope it’s the last one.
