The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.
Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar. Fate’s Edge giveaway ends tonight!
Sunday, I did the usual visiting and email stuff. Everybody’s like March is over. No! Next week is still March and more than 25% of March is remaining. We had the fun Fate’s Edge chat for the Read-along. We walked Lulu afterward. Then I went out to the yard. I did some weeding, and watering. I also divided the lettuce that we planted from seed. There are about 10 asparagus stalks which should be ready in a day or two. I dug up the oregano plant because it didn’t make it. I planted a basil plant which I got for fresh basil. I don’t know if it will make it or not. We should have 70s all week.
Monday, it’s going to rain this afternoon. I did a bunch of post setups. The rain cleared so we walked Lulu in the late afternoon as usual.
Tuesday, today might be the nicest of the week. In the afternoon, we went to get our COVID boosters. Then we walked Lulu. Afterwards, I divided the lettuce plants spacing them out. Then I sprayed the driveway cracks with weed killer. We had garden broccoli for dinner. I finished my shrug after dinner, weaving in the ends. My daughter has been asking to try it on for a couple days, as soon as it was complete. I think it may end up as my daughter’s shrug.
Wednesday, it’s chilly today, barely 60F / 16C. Yay for a day at home. I wrote a review. I started
looking at my knitting options for a new project. I think I’m going to do a new sweater. But I’ll need to remeasure to make sure about the sizing. While trying to plan the project, I also cleaned up my desk which had gotten too cluttered.
Thursday, I did a bit of the usual and then went to the Farmer’s Market. I walked around and saw everything, lots of fruits and veggies and plants. I was interested in herbs and was excited to find Lemongrass. I haven’t grown that for at least 30 years and I have some good recipes which use it. I was reminded when it was an ingredient on Chopped the other day. I also got Rosemary since after 5 years our huge plant died, and 2 basil plants. Then I did a BJ pickup along with Alpaca Chicken takeout. I made garden broccoli for dinner. It’s all ready and nearly finished for this spring.
Friday, well I realized I forgot to take my tank to be filled at BJs plus when I searched for fish or salmon fillets nothing came up. I tried again today and placed another order to get those. Today will be warm almost 80F / 27C. I dug out the old rosemary plant which had a huge root system and broke the shovel trying to leverage it out. I finally got it out in some pieces Then I planted the new rosemary, lemongrass and basil. There’s only one broccoli plant left. The lettuce and spinach and chard are growing well. It’s hard to tell about the beets and carrots but the plants look healthy! We saw the neighbor and Abbey as they were finishing and we were starting our walk.
Saturday, I did a bit of the computer stuff. Then Lulu and I went to BJ to get the grill tank filled and pick up the items I forgot to order earlier in the week. I wrote a review and then went to repackage the chicken and salmon for future meals. I started a batch of chicken thighs right away for a batch of Lulu food though. Then we went out to walk Lulu. We saw the neighbor and Abbey when we came back. Abbey was not feeling very energetic, so I’m worried about her. I finally caught up on my comment replies before making a batch of Lulu food with dinner.
OK now March is coming to an end. Last week people were saying that and I was like, what? There’s 25% of the month left. It did seem to go quickly. The week ahead has 80-85F / 27-29C so almost hot.
I always love this opportunity to binge read a series. I’m starting a bit behind on my ARCs which will make it more challenging. Berls and I have been buddy reading the Joe Pickett series for awhile. It has 25 books and we are down to the last 5.
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):
Many thanks to Ace Books, Penguin Audio.
(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)
I bought the first 7 in the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews in the Graphic Audio version for $4-5 each at Chirp. This sale ends today 3/30/25.
Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.
Chirp Friday Freebies:
I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.
I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

The shrug came out nice and your garden is looking great. March is such a long month. Hi to Lulu and happy reading.
Thanks Naida. I hadn’t washed or blocked it or anything, that was literally after I bound off. I’m so excited the garden is getting productive.
The shrug is so pretty! And very cool about finding lemongrass. I don’t think I’ve ever used it before. Enjoy your warm weather!
Thank you Tammy! Lemongrass is an annual so I’ll have to buy each year but apparently it is popular here since it also repels mosquitos. It’s a perennial further south. I just want those 60-70s. It’s getting hot too fast. I haven’t turned on the AC yet.
You are so good-knitting, planting. I have no such talents! Have a great week!
I’m old so I have had much trial and error.
Your weather sounds amazing. It actually snowed here yesterday. That’s crazy you broke your shovel trying to dig out that old rosemary plant. I love the smell of rosemary (and taste too, especially on roasted veggies). My week was very quiet. My husband was in Munich for work all week, so I was cooking for one. No evening activities either.
No I’m done with snow! That sounds like a nice quiet week. I love having all the plants.
We don’t talk about COVID boosters here anymore, sadly! But we do get vaccinated once a year if we wish it. And your weather sounds dreamy!
Nobody talks about COVID or boosters but we are careful about having lots of precautions. It’s going to be nearly too hot.
Looks like you got some good new books! The shrug turned out very nice! I was feeling like it was the end of the month, but glad it wasn’t because I was able to get a few more books read so my total for March wasn’t so low. But yep, here comes April! Sounds like you had some good gardening time even with some issues. Lulu is looking like she doesn’t want her picture taken, lol. Have a great first week of April!
Thanks, Lisa. Lulu doesn’t mind having her photo taken. This week will end up hot.
Your books look really good. The shrug is really nice.
I hope you have a great week!
Thank you Yvonne. It’s good to have hobbies that work.
I hope Lulu is feeling better. Sounds like your garden is doing well! Planted a bunch of my flowers outside that I started from seed this last week. Probably shouldn’t have done it as I tired myself out being sick. We are having nice days and then lots of rainy days. It’s gloomy and raining today. More rain to come this week.
Thanks Rachel. Lulu is doing ok. She does have some allergies this time of year. We need some of that rain here.
Neat that you’re working on an herb garden this year. I’ve never cooked with lemongrass, but I’ve seen recipes that call for it. Your shrug looks cozy. LOL, it does sound like its a share shrug. Good luck finishing up the last five for SIAM challenge. I’ve picked one of my Series on Sunday goals to work on for that.
Have a good week, Anne!
Thank you Sophia. It could be a share shrug if I ever see it again. LOL That sounds like a good plan for SIAM. There are so many series I want to read.
I seriously cannot remember intentionally reading a whole book series since… Harry Potter? And that was before the series was finished, so I still haven’t read the last one or two… Definitely ready for some warmer weather!
I’m quite a series reader. Partly because I read many police procedural mysteries.
Your garden looks beautiful and what lovely weather you’ve been having! Have a great week.
Thank you Jodie. It’s going to get too hot for me this week. But the garden should mostly be happy other than needing more rain but I will water it some.
Sweet Lulu💜
Love that shrug! My knitting skills are just awful. Congrats on your progress in the Joe Pickett series. I started it and loved the first book.
Happy reading, Anne!
Thank you Jonetta. I started knitting very young so lots of trial and error. Joe Pickett is easy to read but not quite realistic and yet fun.
Picking a new project can be really fun — hope you find something you’ll enjoy!
March really did fly by. It’s suddenly quite warm out here!
Thank you. I love the planning and design part of a project.
Love the shrug!!
Thank you Nicole. It’s not perfect but it is made with love.
I love the shrug! I can totally understand why your daughter “borrowed” it! We’ve had nice temperatures thankfully and it seems to be staying pretty level even though we’ve had some crazy storms. Have a great week!
Thank you Katherine. I may never get to wear it again. Shrugs are one of my favorite things to make though. It’s going to get too hot here starting tomorrow, in the upper 80s for a few days.
We spent Saturday working on our backyard and planting some new grass seed after doing some rototiller work. Our yard is so full of roots that grass in areas is sometimes a struggle. You reminded me I really need to clean up my desk upstairs. I do most of my work from our catch-all dining room table so that probably needs a tidy as well. Love seeing Lulu! Bet she is glad spring is rolling around.
This next week will be back into the 60s so that will be my nudge to do the yard work rather than these days in the upper 80s. The weeds have taken over the back yard. Well not the gardens but the grass. Lulu is happy to go out as long as there is not rain. But she doesn’t want to stay out. She’s an indoor girl. The pollen is making her sneeze.
‘Mate Branded’ looks really good.
It’s an author I recognize but haven’t read yet.
