The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.
Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.
Sunday, I got up a bit earlier. I got the email at 9:28pm last night that the boil water advisory was ended. I had the Sunday visiting to do along with a few other tasks. I wrote a review, edited one, and set up posts for a new ARC. I paid some bills. Early afternoon, we tried to run a couple errands and things were closed. We still went to the community college so my daughter could practice driving in their large parking lot. We walked Lulu just before dinner when it started to cool down.
Monday, I am working my way into getting up earlier than I have been. Once my daughter got up, I vacuumed the main floor and the stairs. We walked Lulu. The neighbor told us she saw a black snake in our yard and Marley came to see me. Then I got to the insecticide spray around the base of the house. I even remembered to switch out the battery to charge. I started a Penzey’s order but their credit card processing was down so I couldn’t place it.
Tuesday, our plan was to run an errand and then try driving again in the parking lot. I was going to Lowe’s first to get a few things and use my 10% off coupon. When I left home the garage door went up but wouldn’t go back down. I thought the battery was dead in my remote but even in the garage it wouldn’t go down. I got stopped on the main road, some kind of big accident I thought so I turned around and went all around getting stopped in a one lane road construction thing. When I got to Lowe’s they were already out of some things I wanted, a particular variety of tomato and zucchini plants. I got home feeling a waste of time and frustration. I tried cleaning the sight lines for the garage door and it moved a fraction and stopped again. My daughter went with me to a different Lowe’s which had the items I wanted. I also got impatiens and marigolds as they had 5 for $5 annuals. Then we did our errands and she practiced driving. There were a few more cars but mostly the parking lot was empty. Sadly it started raining so Lulu didn’t get her walk. She was scared by the thunder at dinnertime. I made a batch of Lulu food and Swiss chard for us. I did get the Penzey’s order placed and after some weird thing got my Apple+ trial going for the next 3 months at $2.99 so we will watch Murderbot. I’m not sure yet what to do about the garage door but can work it manually for now.
Wednesday, it isn’t raining all day as projected. When we went out in the morning, Marley came over to say hello to Lulu and me. I pulled some weeds in the garden, as I often do while Lulu does her business. I don’t have an immediate space for the tomato and zucchini. I do have the space already for the pepper. I think the beets and carrots are ready to pick some so I might try that this afternoon. We walked Lulu. Then I vacuumed most of the upstairs. I looked at the beets and carrots but they are still a bit small. I planted the pepper.
Thursday, I wanted to get out early and mow the backyard. Then I also trimmed the whole yard and pulled some weeds. I planted the impatiens in the front planter. I saw the first peony has bloomed! My daughter had an appt with her nutritionist. Then we walked Lulu.
Friday, I did the usual stuff, then made a quick run to Aldi’s since I hadn’t been to the store this week. My daughter had a Zoom on internships at General Mills. Then we walked Lulu. I perused all the deals at Chirp since I had several thousand emails! lol
Saturday, I got going early so we would be ready for Marley. She’s only with us 2 days, 1 night. My daughter got up early and they are downstairs so I’m writing reviews and relaxing. They all made themselves comfy on the couch. They came up to check on me once and Lulu stayed with me for awhile. I did a bunch of work on stuff for the Innkeeper part of the Read-along. We took them both for a walk; the weather is nice around 80F / 27C. It’s going to get hotter this week.
Don’t forget the Steel’s Edge chat on Sunday afternoon!
Spring Library Love ends this week and Summer Library Love starts on May 1.

You had a busy week. I am assuming the garage door issue is resolved. Glad you are doing the JIAM challenge.
Thanks, no I haven’t dealt with the garage door opener. Since we are mostly staying home, I’ve just done it manually. I’m excited about the challenge so many great options.
The peony is so pretty! Marley and your daughter look so happy. Lulu looks a little disgruntled, though. Good luck figuring out the garage door issue!
Thanks Tammy. Lulu is used to be the only dog or more clearly, to our focus being only on her.
Looks like Lulu has plenty of toys <3 I think all of my 'gardening' this year will be using my green reimbursement from work to buy lots of hanging baskets to decorate the outside of our house for our daughter's graduation open house. But in Michigan, I probably won't buy them til after Memorial Day 😉
Lulu loves her toys but she doesn’t do anything with them except chew them or carry them around. She definitely knows they are hers though. I remember well the wait until after Memorial Day for planting in Minnesota where I lived before for many years.
The audiobook challenge looks like fun. I haven’t gotten back to audios yet, but I’m hoping I will soon. Your books look good. I especially want to read Tour to Die For. Hope you have a great week!
Thank you Yvonne. Audiobooks are great for walking, doing chores, etc.
I might sign up for that JIAM challenge. Your peony is gorgeous! I would like to plant them in my garden at some point. I’m trying to figure out where to put my zucchini, too. I’ll probably take the broccoli out and put it there since it’ll be getting warm and it’s not really doing anything other than flower.
I will start Steel’s Edge today, but I won’t be finished in time for the chat. I’ll think about going anyhow since I already listened to the book even though it was years ago.
Thanks Rachel. It’s a process to figure out where plants do best. My lettuce from plants is almost finished so that is probably where mine will go. I’m debating about the snow peas because they just barely flowered and the peas are taking so long. I hope you do come to the chat even if you’ve just started it, if you have read before. I confess since I read it in 2012 I didn’t remember a thing. I’d say it’s my favorite but I could say that about all of them at some point. The first time I read them in paperback I think On the Edge was my favorite. The second time on audio I only read the first 3 and I would say Fate’s Edge was my favorite. This time I think it was Steel’s Edge.
Does insecticide keeps snakes away Anne? I would never have thought of that.
No I don’t think insecticide does keep snakes away, only ants, spiders, cockroaches. But I think maybe Dictamnus Earth does the insects and snakes.
Sounds like your garden is coming right along with new things planted. Peonies are my favorites. So fluffy!
Don’t talk to me about garage doors…I had an automatic door but it was on the same frequency as another door on the other side of the street so whenever that person opened their garage, mine would open, and STAY OPEN!!! Maintenance tried to fix it. Couldn’t. So now I’m back to a padlock and key.
Thanks Jinjer. I’ve got a few things to try on the door before I hire somebody.
I hope you got your garage door opener fixed. We had a similar problem a few months ago and had to bring someone in to fix it. Have a great week Anne.
Thank you Jodie. I may need to hire someone I just haven’t been in a rush. I have one more thing to try first.
Busy week! Sounds like you got some stuff done. Did you get the garage door fixed? Hope you have a good week!
Thanks Lisa. No I haven’t bothered with the garage door yet. I’m going to try one more thing and then I’ll look into it.
Glad you were able to find the veggie deal at the other Lowe’s. Getting things set up for summer gardening and pretty flowers in the beds. Sounds like it was a lovely week, Anne!
Thank you Sophia. It was pretty good overall.
Lulu is so darn cute!! It sounds like you had a good week, with the exception of the garage door and the snake. Enjoy your reads and gardening!
Thank you Erin. Lulu is our best girl. yes I didn’t see the snake even.
Sweet Lulu, blissed out with her toys💜
I plan to join JIAM 2025, too. It does look like fun. Have a great week, Anne!
Thank you Jonetta. I had put all the toys in the bed (instead of scattered across the floor) so I could vaccuum.
What a week. 2025 JIAM Audiobook Challenge is a great challenge it goes great with our Library Audiobook Challenge and the Audiobook Challenge. Not sue if I’ll do it this year. I started the year off great, but now I haven’t been reading or listening to any books. I’m back in my slump and behind on my challenges. =/ I’ve been more focusing on me and my family then spending time blogging. I’ve also been staying away from the news, social media, and online. Things have been non-positive as of late. The world feels likes it’s going downhill. I hope you a good week. Stay Happy and Healthy!
Thank you Angela. The world certainly has been grim. We all have to do the best we can and stay healthy and be kind. I’m reading probably as much or more, it’s a great escape.
We had the cable that pulls the garage door break and we had to wait a week or so for someone to fix it. Luckily it was during the summer, so we just left the cars in the driveway. Have you watched other shows on Apple? I highly recommend Silo. We are going to watch Severance this summer. And if you enjoy comedies – The Afterparty is hilarious. And of course Ted Lasso… if you haven’t seen it.
I had the cable thing happen when I lived in MN. That’s serious and would be dangerous to try to fix myself. I know what that looks like. The only thing I’ve watched on Appletv is Shantaram because Charlie Hunnam.
Sounds like you were busy. Hope you have a wonderful week ahead!
Thank you. I think every week ends up busy somehow.
