One week.
Private beach.
Invisible girl.
Jerk-faced bully.
What’s the worst that could happen?

Kaitlyn Parker has no problem being the invisible girl, which is why she finds herself hiding in various cabinets and closets all over her college campus. Despite her best efforts, she can’t escape the notice of Martin Sandeke—bad boy, jerkface bully, and the universe’s hottest, wealthiest, and most unobtainable bachelor—who also happens to be Kaitlyn’s chemistry lab partner.

Kaitlyn might be the only girl who isn’t interested in exploiting his stunning rower’s build, chiseled features, and family's billionaire fortune. Kaitlyn wants Martin for his brain, specifically to tabulate findings of trace elements in surface water.

When Kaitlyn saves Martin from a nefarious plot, Martin uses the opportunity to push Kaitlyn out of her comfort zone: spring break, one week, house parties, bathing suits, and suntan lotion. Can she overcome her aversion to being noticed? Will he be able grow beyond his self-centered nature? Or, despite their obvious chemistry, will Martin be the one to drive Kaitlyn into the science cabinet of obscurity for good?

The purpose of Thrifty Thursday is to pick a book which was free (at some point).

Free ebook on June 12, 2015

Currently it is $ .99 on Amazon, Nook, and Kobo.

Additional parts are $2.99 or you can get all 3 parts for $5.99.

There is every reason for me to NOT even like this book – it is the billionaire manwhore and the virgin. And it is a serial with 3 parts. There is a CLIFFHANGER. (The author is kind enough to include the start of the second book which relieves the worst of it.)  BUT,  it’s AMAZING and I LOVED it.

It’s honest and fresh and lets us see behind the masks people use to hide.  This is REAL stuff.  Plus – CHEMISTRY. I love math and science, LOVE them. The few little references to chemistry just make me happy.  This is TMI,  but I find algebra arousing. Yup. But science is not the focus of this book, at all.

The other factor for me, is the funny.  And true life is stranger, and more hilarious than fiction. Although, this is fiction. I laughed out loud and alternately, cringed at some of the things they said and did. There are some definite conversations which I refer to as core dump moments.

The best example, of core dump, is from Sons of Anarchy season 2, between Jax and Tara.  Basically, they are talking about what are they doing – what is their relationship.  Tara starts by saying that she hopes they are going somewhere, then goes on and on to end up saying she will want a baby or two and no cheating and . . . a core dump of all information and feelings!

Attraction  has lots of dialog, honest talking,  between two people – college students – who are both taken at face value, often treated according to labels rather than who they really are.   And it’s AWESOME!!!

I read this all in one sitting without putting it down.  I recommend buying it (all 3 parts),  and reading it. I’m thinking a binge read of everything Penny Reid is next for me. (And her other series has knitting. I love knitting. It’s a math thing too.)

Giggle-worthy quote:

My fingers moved to catch his wrists because his hands were on their way to second base; I successfully intercepted his northward progress.  “Nope. I don’t do that.”

“Do what?” He nuzzled my neck and whispered against my skin. He must’ve known that nuzzling was going to cause my insides to melt. I imagined he’d conducted methodical experiments into the fastest way to female self-lubrication.

“I’m not one of your easy girls, or even difficult girls.” My voice wavered, so I cleared my throat. “ I’m not even really a girl. I’m more like one of the boys. Think of me like a boy.”

“Not possible.”

About Penny Reid

SEX! It all started with sex, between my parents. Personally I don’t like thinking about it, but whatever works for you is a-ok with me. No judgment. The sex happened in California and much of my life also occurred in that state until I moved from the land of nuts (almonds), wine, silicon… boobs, and heavy traffic to the southeast US.

Penny Reid is the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today Best Selling Author of the Winston Brothers, Knitting in the City, Rugby, and Hypothesis series. She used to spend her days writing federal grant proposals as a biomedical researcher, but now she just writes books. She’s also a full time mom to three diminutive adults, wife, daughter, knitter, crocheter, sewer, general crafter, and thought ninja.

By the wee hours of the morning or when I’m intoxicated I love to listen to the voices in my head and let them tell me stories. I hope you enjoy their stories.
