The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.

Sunday,  I started out visiting blogs but then when my daughter got up she was concerned about Lulu’s ears.  So I took them to the emergency vet, then I went to pick up my daughter’s Rx.  Well at least I got a lot of audio listening done while out and about.  The vet gave us ear drops for Lulu.  Then we went to the Asian store on the way home. My daughter went in to look at the store for her first time.    My daughter did participate in a chat room kind of thing about her new school and resources and she seemed to enjoy it and decided to sign up for more of them. Classes start tomorrow.

Monday, Lulu isn’t as frantic so the drops are helping her.  My daughter though is having the 4th day of migraines so we have a call into the doctor.  She’s not supposed to take the medicine more than 2 days in a row.  I’m feeling very behind now.  I hate being behind on comments to the blog and I’ve got 2 weeks worth of different comments.  I also haven’t made it to most of the Sunday posts.   And to pile on,  it’s like 3 months and I haven’t gotten back to figuring out FS Poster and have nothing working there yet.  I am sharing some friend’s posts to Mastodon but just can’t support Twitter.  Our neighbor let us know that Kayla passed today.  Poor thing, she was suffering. She didn’t even have the energy to bark at Lulu lately.  I did get around to the Sunday posts. Then I went to bed early.

Tuesday,  today is supposed to be rainy and strong winds.  I got going early. At 11 it was wet but not raining, so Abby and Lulu had their nice walk.  My neighbor volunteered to keep Lulu this afternoon while I took my daughter to the neurologist. I wouldn’t have done it but I thought it might help Abby. Plus with the storms Lulu might be frightened home alone.  So we went to the neurologist and they gave her a new medication for when the Rizatriptan doesn’t work.  Then I dropped her at home to take a nap and I went to pick up things at Aldi and the Papa Murphy’s pizza deals.  When I came out of Aldi, it was really windy.  Thankfully after I got the pizzas, it had even stopped raining.  I took the neighbor over her pizza and picked up Lulu.  I cooked my pizza right away since I hadn’t even had lunch. I was so tired I went to sleep early.

Wednesday,  I was still tired when I got up.  Abby was happy to see Lulu and me.  We took a chilly walk because it was windy but sunny. I had a couple hours to work on various paperwork and posts.  Then I took my daughter to her chiro appt and to get her iphone fixed, and a pickup at BJs since we were next door, plus dinner from Alpaca Chicken.

Thursday,  I thought it would be cold but with no wind it was fine.  Abby and Lulu and I had a nice walk.  I am SO glad to have a day at home to catch up on things, finish up posts and reviews, and finally respond to some blog comments.  I didn’t do as much as I wanted because we decided to have Abby over to watch tv with us in the late afternoon.  She and Lulu were happy to see each other, ran around. I took them in the backyard to run and sniff while I picked up branches that fell down in the storm.  When we went to the couch, Abby wouldn’t do the ramp, let us pick her up or come up on the couch herself.  So she went around sniffing everywhere while we watched with Lulu and eventually lay down on one of Lulu’s beds we put by the couch.  Our neighbor told us when she came to take her home that every night about 10 she barks and goes to all the beds where Kayla slept.  So we are trying to give Abby company at least.

Friday, I was happy to have a day at home planning, setting up posts. The new medication which works isn’t covered by insurance and will need a prior authorization.  It was a nice day 60F / 15C but the wind really picked up in the late afternoon when Lulu and I walked. It’s going to rain overnight.  I finally got around to looking at all the top 10 lists and responding to all the comments. If you want to see all the Top 10 Posts for 2023, you can click HERE  or find Top 10 on the Features Menu above, as more people have linked up now.

Saturday, another day I’m happy to be home with fairly nice weather.  This upcoming week will be getting colder as it goes and next weekend is supposed to around freezing 32F / 0C for our highs (not usual).  I’ll have to plan any errands earlier in the week.  I wrote some reviews.  I’m getting so excited for the first post for the Read-along this Friday and the first chat next Sunday.

Audible sent me this and I suppose it is interesting.  I have 15 other audiobook apps and probably spend the most time in Book Mower or Libby or Hoopla.

I could get more minutes if I listened to more KU titles.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by  Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

Thanks so much to St. Martin’s Press, and Brilliance Audio .

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

I purchased these Graphic Audio full cast audios at Chirp for less than $5 each.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

  1. Rough start to your week, but glad things settled a bit for you. Sorry you lost one of your dog walk partners, but nice you could help with her companion Abby. We’re frigid now, but I was glad to get in three walks earlier last week.

    Have a good week, Anne!

  2. Ah, sorry to hear about Kayla. It’s so hard for us and the dogs that are their companions. I know my mom’s dog Lucy still is sad sometimes and we’re sure it’s because she misses Millie who passed away last spring. It’s nice you can give Abby a chance to spend time with Lulu. Sorry everyone in your house, including Lulu has had some health issues! I hope that is getting better. Try to stay warm this week if you’re getting the cold temps we are right now!

  3. I am sorry your daughter and Lulu were unwell! Now I am excited to see that Katherine Center book on your feed! I love her books!

  4. I’m sorry about Kayla – it’s lovely that you are helping out with poor Abby. It’s so hard that we can’t explain to dogs what is happening… And I’m also very sorry to hear that your daughter has been having one of her horrible migraines. As an ex-sufferer whose misery also used to go on for days at a time – she has my sympathy and I’m glad you’ve managed to get medication for her that helps. I hope the coming week is less stressful and hectic, Anne.

  5. I’m sorry about Kayla, and poor Abby looking for her friend. I’m glad Lulu’s ears feel better with the eardrops, and that things got better later in the week. I hate feeling like I’m behind too, but I’m trying to let some things go and be more patient with myself. It’s a practice! I hope this week goes better for you!

  6. Sweet Lulu in all her glory💜💜💜

I got the same thing from Audible but mine is even skimpier. I listen to audiobooks using my iTunes books app for 99% of them. I even download the Audible books to listen on that app, though the with recent improvements to their app, I’ve stopped doing that.

Nice haul this week, too. Have a great week, Anne!

  7. Poor Kayla and Abby. When our dog Yoda died, Calleigh was just lost like Abby. It’s so tough. Its nice of you to let Abby spend time with you and Lulu. I hope your daughters new meds work!

  8. I’m sorry to hear about Kayla. Poor Abby. Dogs and cats really do miss their companions when they’re gone. I’m sure both Abby and your neighbor appreciate the time that Abby spends with Lulu.

I’m glad the new medication is working for your daughter, and that she’s enjoying the chat room support for her new school. I hope this semester’s classes go well.

I’ll be interested to see how it goes with FS Poster. I would really like a solution that could cut down on the amount of cross-posting I do (or forget to do, or don’t have time to do.) If you get it working, please let me know!

Have a great week, and I hope all your plants survive the cold snap! We’re preparing for it too. The temperatures will be dipping into the teens up here this week, at least at night. But it could be worse! I have relatives in the upper Midwest, and it was below 0 (Fahrenheit) there this morning. Brrrr. I’m thankful it’s not going to get that bad here.

    • Thank you Kara. I feel so badly for Abby so we are doing what we can. She and Lulu see each other most days. I found all my messages I printed on FS Poster and do hope to get to it soon. I do have all my 2024 pre work on posts finished finally. My cobbled together use of dlvr.it, IFTTT and Buffer mostly works. But it would be easier to have one app instead of 3, and I’m not doing anything with Threads or Bluesky with these. Dlvr.it is the best easiest but I can only have 2 socials on it. I’m trying to decide if I am covering plants this week and especially next weekend.

  9. Sorry to hear about your daughter’s migraines. I hate migraines. They’re the worst. I hope the neurologist had some helpful news. I’m sorry to hear about Kayla. It’s always so hard to lose a pet. I’m glad you’ve been helping out with Abby so she’s not as lonely or sad. I hope Lulu’s ears are better. And, I’m sorry you’ve been behind on blogging and commenting. We understand and don’t hold it against you. I hope you have a great week!

  10. Poor Kayla! I lost one cat and my other cat was depressed for a while. He still misses him I think since they loved each other so much. I feel bad for Abby so nice that Lulu hung out with her. I hope the new meds help your daughter’s migraines! Those are the worst. You’re getting some cold weather there! It’s that cold here in TX but at home the high was 50. I’m flying home in a bit. Our flight for tomorrow got cancelled so we were offered today at 7pm. We won’t get to our house until 2am, but better than having the flight cancelled over and over like it probably would’ve been if we changed to another time for tomorrow. Wish me luck. I’m a little worried after that Alaska flight!

I feel you about being behind with reviews/books whatnot. I’m feeling a little stressed right now trying to keep up. I hope to get a little ahead this next week.

We have a Papa Murphy’s near us, maybe I should try them…

  12. The weather we had last week was WILD! From a 12″ snow storm to two 100-year floods back to back, and then a snow squall. I hope this week calms down. But I did get out and walk, so that was good.

  13. Oh no. It’s always so sad when the doggies go. I’m sorry to hear about Kayla. Sounds like you had a few days to catch up even though the week started out super busy. Hope your daughter is feeling better now!

  14. I am so sorry to hear about Kayla. I am sure that it will be a tough adjustment for Abby. It sounds like a busy week once again. I do hope that your daughter finds some relief soon. Great new books this week! I cannot wait to read The Rom-Commers!

  15. I hope the new medication helps your daughter’s migraines. I get ocular ones from time to time but never bad enough or consistent enough that I needed meds. I really think they were tied to my birth control meds because when I no longer needed those, they slowed down a lot. Sorry to hear about Kayla but glad she is no longer suffering. We’ve had such cold temps and snow all weekend on and off but only a few inches accumulation. It was good for hunkering down with blankets, dogs and books. Glad Lulu’s ears are better.
