The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Sunday, I started out visiting blogs but then when my daughter got up she was concerned about Lulu’s ears. So I took them to the emergency vet, then I went to pick up my daughter’s Rx. Well at least I got a lot of audio listening done while out and about. The vet gave us ear drops for Lulu. Then we went to the Asian store on the way home. My daughter went in to look at the store for her first time. My daughter did participate in a chat room kind of thing about her new school and resources and she seemed to enjoy it and decided to sign up for more of them. Classes start tomorrow.
Monday, Lulu isn’t as frantic so the drops are helping her. My daughter though is having the 4th day of migraines so we have a call into the doctor. She’s not supposed to take the medicine more than 2 days in a row. I’m feeling very behind now. I hate being behind on comments to the blog and I’ve got 2 weeks worth of different comments. I also haven’t made it to most of the Sunday posts. And to pile on, it’s like 3 months and I haven’t gotten back to figuring out FS Poster and have nothing working there yet. I am sharing some friend’s posts to Mastodon but just can’t support Twitter. Our neighbor let us know that Kayla passed today. Poor thing, she was suffering. She didn’t even have the energy to bark at Lulu lately. I did get around to the Sunday posts. Then I went to bed early.
Tuesday, today is supposed to be rainy and strong winds. I got going early. At 11 it was wet but not raining, so Abby and Lulu had their nice walk. My neighbor volunteered to keep Lulu this afternoon while I took my daughter to the neurologist. I wouldn’t have done it but I thought it might help Abby. Plus with the storms Lulu might be frightened home alone. So we went to the neurologist and they gave her a new medication for when the Rizatriptan doesn’t work. Then I dropped her at home to take a nap and I went to pick up things at Aldi and the Papa Murphy’s pizza deals. When I came out of Aldi, it was really windy. Thankfully after I got the pizzas, it had even stopped raining. I took the neighbor over her pizza and picked up Lulu. I cooked my pizza right away since I hadn’t even had lunch. I was so tired I went to sleep early.
Wednesday, I was still tired when I got up. Abby was happy to see Lulu and me. We took a chilly walk because it was windy but sunny. I had a couple hours to work on various paperwork and posts. Then I took my daughter to her chiro appt and to get her iphone fixed, and a pickup at BJs since we were next door, plus dinner from Alpaca Chicken.
Thursday, I thought it would be cold but with no wind it was fine. Abby and Lulu and I had a nice walk. I am SO glad to have a day at home to catch up on things, finish up posts and reviews, and finally respond to some blog comments. I didn’t do as much as I wanted because we decided to have Abby over to watch tv with us in the late afternoon. She and Lulu were happy to see each other, ran around. I took them in the backyard to run and sniff while I picked up branches that fell down in the storm. When we went to the couch, Abby wouldn’t do the ramp, let us pick her up or come up on the couch herself. So she went around sniffing everywhere while we watched with Lulu and eventually lay down on one of Lulu’s beds we put by the couch. Our neighbor told us when she came to take her home that every night about 10 she barks and goes to all the beds where Kayla slept. So we are trying to give Abby company at least.
Friday, I was happy to have a day at home planning, setting up posts. The new medication which works isn’t covered by insurance and will need a prior authorization. It was a nice day 60F / 15C but the wind really picked up in the late afternoon when Lulu and I walked. It’s going to rain overnight. I finally got around to looking at all the top 10 lists and responding to all the comments. If you want to see all the Top 10 Posts for 2023, you can click HERE or find Top 10 on the Features Menu above, as more people have linked up now.
Saturday, another day I’m happy to be home with fairly nice weather. This upcoming week will be getting colder as it goes and next weekend is supposed to around freezing 32F / 0C for our highs (not usual). I’ll have to plan any errands earlier in the week. I wrote some reviews. I’m getting so excited for the first post for the Read-along this Friday and the first chat next Sunday.

Audible sent me this and I suppose it is interesting. I have 15 other audiobook apps and probably spend the most time in Book Mower or Libby or Hoopla.
I could get more minutes if I listened to more KU titles.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):
Thanks so much to St. Martin’s Press, and Brilliance Audio .

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)
I purchased these Graphic Audio full cast audios at Chirp for less than $5 each.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

Sounds like a crazy week! So sorry to hear about Kayla, and poor Abby too. Dogs are so sensitive. Have a good week, Anne😁
Thanks Tammy. I feel so badly for Abby. They were both rescued together 13 years ago so it’s a big change for her.
Rough start to your week, but glad things settled a bit for you. Sorry you lost one of your dog walk partners, but nice you could help with her companion Abby. We’re frigid now, but I was glad to get in three walks earlier last week.
Have a good week, Anne!
Thank you Sophia. It was a very rough start. I hope we are helping Abby because we are normally with her. We’re looking at a cold week ahead and I’m dreading it a bit. Nothing as cold as some places but cold for here. Thankfully we don’t have anywhere we have to go this week.
Ah, sorry to hear about Kayla. It’s so hard for us and the dogs that are their companions. I know my mom’s dog Lucy still is sad sometimes and we’re sure it’s because she misses Millie who passed away last spring. It’s nice you can give Abby a chance to spend time with Lulu. Sorry everyone in your house, including Lulu has had some health issues! I hope that is getting better. Try to stay warm this week if you’re getting the cold temps we are right now!
Thank you Lisa. Everyone but me. I am healthy as usual. Tired but healthy. Lulu has allergy problems and we have to watch her ears closely. Lulu doesn’t like the ear drops but they are working. None of the health issues are contagious at all though.
I am sorry your daughter and Lulu were unwell! Now I am excited to see that Katherine Center book on your feed! I love her books!
Thank you Sophie. I was surprised to have it show up on offer so far in advance (the Katherine Center book).
I’m sorry about Kayla – it’s lovely that you are helping out with poor Abby. It’s so hard that we can’t explain to dogs what is happening… And I’m also very sorry to hear that your daughter has been having one of her horrible migraines. As an ex-sufferer whose misery also used to go on for days at a time – she has my sympathy and I’m glad you’ve managed to get medication for her that helps. I hope the coming week is less stressful and hectic, Anne.
Thank you Sarah. Me too. I don’t want to go out more than necessary because it’s going to be our coldest week of the year here.
I’m sorry about Kayla, and poor Abby looking for her friend. I’m glad Lulu’s ears feel better with the eardrops, and that things got better later in the week. I hate feeling like I’m behind too, but I’m trying to let some things go and be more patient with myself. It’s a practice! I hope this week goes better for you!
Thank you! I think I’m more likely to keep fighting rather than be patient. I turned it around this week. What I need to be patient with is the things I can’t control like when I get certain ARCs or library books. Planning / organizing helps me keep it on track with the ones I have.
I hope your daughter and the dog feel better soon! Good luck to your daughter with school. I hope you have a good week. (I’m always hopelessly behind on comments.)
Thank you AJ. The treatments for them are working which is a plus. I’m caught up with comments until today but I’ve gotten lots today and I’ve a bunch of Sunday visiting to do yet.
Sweet Lulu in all her glory💜💜💜
I got the same thing from Audible but mine is even skimpier. I listen to audiobooks using my iTunes books app for 99% of them. I even download the Audible books to listen on that app, though the with recent improvements to their app, I’ve stopped doing that.
Nice haul this week, too. Have a great week, Anne!
Thank you Jonetta. I’ve been too lazy to move them all to iTunes but I should be working on that.
Poor Kayla and Abby. When our dog Yoda died, Calleigh was just lost like Abby. It’s so tough. Its nice of you to let Abby spend time with you and Lulu. I hope your daughters new meds work!
yes we are trying to help Abby. She and Lulu are comfortable together. The new med is working for my daughter but of course insurance doesn’t want to cover it.
I’m sorry to hear about Kayla. Poor Abby. Dogs and cats really do miss their companions when they’re gone. I’m sure both Abby and your neighbor appreciate the time that Abby spends with Lulu.
I’m glad the new medication is working for your daughter, and that she’s enjoying the chat room support for her new school. I hope this semester’s classes go well.
I’ll be interested to see how it goes with FS Poster. I would really like a solution that could cut down on the amount of cross-posting I do (or forget to do, or don’t have time to do.) If you get it working, please let me know!
Have a great week, and I hope all your plants survive the cold snap! We’re preparing for it too. The temperatures will be dipping into the teens up here this week, at least at night. But it could be worse! I have relatives in the upper Midwest, and it was below 0 (Fahrenheit) there this morning. Brrrr. I’m thankful it’s not going to get that bad here.
Thank you Kara. I feel so badly for Abby so we are doing what we can. She and Lulu see each other most days. I found all my messages I printed on FS Poster and do hope to get to it soon. I do have all my 2024 pre work on posts finished finally. My cobbled together use of dlvr.it, IFTTT and Buffer mostly works. But it would be easier to have one app instead of 3, and I’m not doing anything with Threads or Bluesky with these. Dlvr.it is the best easiest but I can only have 2 socials on it. I’m trying to decide if I am covering plants this week and especially next weekend.
What a week for you. Hope Lulu is on the mend and your daughter is doing better. Nice book haul. Happy Reading!
Thank you Angela. I’ve got things in better shape now and I hope this week is a quieter one.
Sorry to hear about your daughter’s migraines. I hate migraines. They’re the worst. I hope the neurologist had some helpful news. I’m sorry to hear about Kayla. It’s always so hard to lose a pet. I’m glad you’ve been helping out with Abby so she’s not as lonely or sad. I hope Lulu’s ears are better. And, I’m sorry you’ve been behind on blogging and commenting. We understand and don’t hold it against you. I hope you have a great week!
Thank you! Lulu is better and the new med works for my daughter. We continue to try to comfort Abby. I am finally caught up on my comments but there will be more being that it is Sunday but that’s good. I might even tackle a new problem this week.
Poor Kayla! I lost one cat and my other cat was depressed for a while. He still misses him I think since they loved each other so much. I feel bad for Abby so nice that Lulu hung out with her. I hope the new meds help your daughter’s migraines! Those are the worst. You’re getting some cold weather there! It’s that cold here in TX but at home the high was 50. I’m flying home in a bit. Our flight for tomorrow got cancelled so we were offered today at 7pm. We won’t get to our house until 2am, but better than having the flight cancelled over and over like it probably would’ve been if we changed to another time for tomorrow. Wish me luck. I’m a little worried after that Alaska flight!
I feel you about being behind with reviews/books whatnot. I’m feeling a little stressed right now trying to keep up. I hope to get a little ahead this next week.
Thank you. The new meds worked for my daughter. We saw Abby and the neighbor again today when Lulu and I walked. They see each other most days and that normalcy has to help some. I caught up the last 2 days so my posts are done for this week and I’m caught up on comments. Maybe I can take a quick look back at my social media frustrations. I hope your flight goes well!
Ooh, a lot of new books! Hope you enjoy them.
Seems like you’ve had quite the week — hope the next week gives you some more breathing space!
Thank you. This week looks better and I’m caught up better now.
I’m sorry to hear about Kayla. And I hope your daughter gets relief soon. Glad to hear the medication is working.
We have a Papa Murphy’s near us, maybe I should try them…
Thank you Greg. I am sad about Kayla. Lulu and I saw Abby and the neighbor again today on our walk. I have to hope that Lulu provides some comfort for Abby because seeing her is normal most days.
Well we like Papa Murphy’s GF offerings. Tuesday is the best deal and it’s nationwide.
I might give Papa Murphy’s a try!
I’m excited to have received The Rom-Commers as well Anne! I hope that we both enjoy it. Have a great week ahead.
Thank you Jodie I hope we both have a better week ahead!
So sorry for your difficult week! I’ve had migraines since I was 16 and it’s been a JOURNEY. I hope your daughter starts doing better on her medicine. And I hope your pup does better as well!
Thank you Hannah. The new meds are working for my daughter and it’s been a pretty good week after a rough start Lulu is better also. I think we just have to be vigilant about her allergy shots and ear cleaning.
I’m sorry to hear about Kayla and Abby and Lulu. Migraines are so tough. 🙁
Thank you Jennifer. We are doing all we can. The new meds seem to be working for my daughter in combo with the old meds. Lulu is doing well with the ear drops though she hates them when administered. Lulu is doing her best to comfort Abby as are we.
It sounds like you had quite a week! I am sorry to hear about Kayla.
I hope that your daughter is feeling better.
Thank you Erin. We took steps and things are handled. I feel badly for Abby and we all continue to comfort her as much as we can. She is not a cuddly dog but she does love her walks and we are doing that. I hope Lulu is some comfort as a normal part of her days.
The weather we had last week was WILD! From a 12″ snow storm to two 100-year floods back to back, and then a snow squall. I hope this week calms down. But I did get out and walk, so that was good.
We are getting more of that weather this week and I’m nervous about it. I have to decide whether to cover some plants. I’m also dreading the walks if the wind is really strong. I have Minnesota clothes so I’ll be fine and probably even comfortable if I wear them.
I’m sorry about Kayla but it’s nice of you and your daughter to keep Abby company while she grieves. I hope the new medicine helps your daughter and your insurance decides to cover it. And I hope Lulu’s ears are better soon. Stay warm!
Thank you Jen We are doing all we can to comfort Abby. Lulu’s ears are better and we just need to keep her on a regular schedule for allergy shots. The meds are working for my daughter so I hope our doctor can convince insurance she needs them. Otherwise they are $1,900 per month. And we have good insurance but they can decide not to cover things, especially medications.
I’m so sorry about Kayla. Very sad.
I hope your daughter is feeling better. I used to get migraines and those can be so hard to get rid of.
Enjoy all your books. They look good. Have a great week!
Thank you Yvonne. We are sad about Kayla and doing all we can to help Abby. The new med is working for my daughter in combo with the old med. Taking a pill is easier than 3 days of IV infusions so now just to get insurance to cover it. I mean it should be cheaper too and they already covered the infusions. She had a much better week after the new med.
That’s quite a bit for this week. I’m glad the drops are helping Lulu’s ears.
Thank you Mary. I’m glad this week is going more smoothly so far.
I love all the dog pics. You have some great looking books. I do have a lot of books on audible. Maybe this year I’ll do better at listening.
yes whenever I go to do certain chores, walks etc I plug in my earbuds. It’s habit and easy now. We love the dogs in our life.
Oh no. It’s always so sad when the doggies go. I’m sorry to hear about Kayla. Sounds like you had a few days to catch up even though the week started out super busy. Hope your daughter is feeling better now!
Thank you. yes my daughter is doing better. We are doing what we can for Abby.
I am so sorry to hear about Kayla. I am sure that it will be a tough adjustment for Abby. It sounds like a busy week once again. I do hope that your daughter finds some relief soon. Great new books this week! I cannot wait to read The Rom-Commers!
Thank you Carole. The week started tough but it definitely improved. We are doing what we can for Abby. Wait until you see my haul this week. They all came at once but they are for release over 6 months so even though it looks like a lot it’s ok.
I am glad the new meds are working for your daughter. I am so sorry about Kayla and really feel for Abby. I am sure the time with Lulu does help some. I hope you have a good week, Anne, and enjoy your new books! Take care.
Thank you Wendy. We are on a good track right now and are trying to help Abby.
I hope the new medication helps your daughter’s migraines. I get ocular ones from time to time but never bad enough or consistent enough that I needed meds. I really think they were tied to my birth control meds because when I no longer needed those, they slowed down a lot. Sorry to hear about Kayla but glad she is no longer suffering. We’ve had such cold temps and snow all weekend on and off but only a few inches accumulation. It was good for hunkering down with blankets, dogs and books. Glad Lulu’s ears are better.
Thank you Barb. The new meds did work for her. It’s not an everyday thing. She just needs to take them as needed. But one refill is $1900 if we can’t get prior authorization. So that’s a problem. Lulu is much better.
” 4th day of migraines”! Ouchie!!!!
And good job on your audible stats
yes but the meds worked. Thank you.
