Sunday Post – 3 March 2024 @kimbacaffeinate @readingreality

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.

Sunday,  I did all my Feedly and Sunday post visiting. Feedly is off for a few days. I have to mark each item as read individually instead of being able to mark a screen at a time.  Then I went on to writing reviews and getting some posts ready.  My daughter finished up her paper after getting positive feedback from the university writing center.   I took Lulu on the medium route and we saw the swans.  Before dinner, we took the ornaments off the tree and started putting them away.

Monday, the usual things went quickly.  I had some FS Poster emails which needed action.  I decided to read a bit.  Lulu and I took our walk.  This is the last week for my daughter’s class and she’ll have a new one starting next week. I felt tired and went to bed pretty early.

Tuesday, well my daughter and I both have a stomach pain and bug.  We are trying to figure out if it’s something we ate. We haven’t been out of the house for 4-5 days.  It’s average temp and threatening rain so we brought Abby to the back yard to sniff and play with Lulu.  It did start raining but at least it wasn’t hard.  I’m going to try for a low key day.  I still needed to drag out the garbage and recycle and the Christmas tree.

Wednesday,  I got a good night’s sleep and feel back to normal. I did my usual stuff. I spent some time going through all my ARC offers emails to clean that up. The orchid we’ve had for 5 years is finally blooming. My daughter rescued it from her therapist and it’s never bloomed before. I can’t believe it!

Thursday, I slept really well which meant I slept later than usual. I ate quickly and went to walk Abby and Lulu.  Marley was in our front yard when we came out so I stopped to play with her a minute.  It’s colder but not much wind. Feedly is working right again – yay! Papa Murphy’s had a Leap Day deal on pizza 29% off so we got pizza.  We watched the new episode of Will Trent – with Betty!

Friday,  today is jam packed.  More FS Poster debugging,  sorting out some tax paperwork. We went to pick up my daughter’s new glasses,  then filled the grill tank and got a pickup order at BJs, then a few things at Aldi.  My daughter turned in her last assignment for her class. I’d finished all my audio ARCs for March so I decided I needed to get audio versions of some of the ebooks. I maybe went a bit overboard on that.

Saturday, as always much to do. I went into the college system to pay for my daughter’s next course which starts tomorrow. She got an A for the course she just finished.  I uploaded the 3 new audios I got this week to my phone.  I did a menu plan for the week ahead. I called Harris Teeter about a COVID booster but you have to be 65 and more than 4 months since your last shot so we don’t qualify.   We got them last fall but neither of us is 65.  I wrote a review. Lulu and I walked the medium route but didn’t see the swans.

February Reading:   I managed to read  23 books. Audiobooks continue to help me read more. Some count for more than one challenge.  I listened to 14 audiobooks, read 5 library books,  16 COYER reads,   and  5 books which I already own.

All Library books (including ones not reviewed on the blog)  2024 Library Love Challenge

I did manage to read 5 books I own (goal is 3 per month):

  • 🎧Even White Trash Zombies Get the Blues by Diana Rowland
  • The Way You Look Tonight by Bella Andre
  • Exclusively Yours by Shannon Stacey
  • 🎧 White Trash Zombie Apocalypse by Diana Rowland
  • 🎧 Betting on the House by Cassandra Medcalf

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by  Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

Thank you to Tantor Audio,   Inkubator Books,   Thomas & Mercer,  Forever,  Brilliance Audio (2).

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

NONE

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

  1. Sorry to hear about the stomach bug. That’s so miserable. I had the same issue on Friday and ended up working from home because of it. Hope you’re both completely over it. I got the updated Covid booster a couple months back so I guess I’m good for a while. I still need to get the shingles vaccine which I keep forgetting to do. Hope you have a great week, Anne!

  2. Stomach bugs yuck. That’s great the orchid is blooming. I repotted my two orchids this month after watching a YouTube video on what orchids need. They desperately needed it and now I’m hoping to get them to bloom again. You got some nice books/audios this week. Hope you enjoy them. Great job on 5 library reads. ^_^ Right now I’m behind on writing reviews for books. I’m focusing on the house reno which we need to get finished this month. We’re a month behind. Have a great week.

  3. Stomach bugs are the worst! Hope you’re feeling better. My husband did our taxes last week and we already got our refund. Haven’t had a tax refund in years! I downloaded that Kelley Armstrong too. It’ll be interesting to see how she does with contemporary romance. I’ll have to check out that Loreth Anne White.

  4. Oh that’s no fum when you don’t feel good. The Reaping and Floating Hotel both look good. I’ve seen Floating Hotel somewhere and am super curious about that.

  5. Yay for an A for your daughter. I always love getting my grades, especially if they’re good, lol. Sorry you both had tummy troubles, but I’m glad you’re both feeling better. I hope your daughter likes her new class.

  6. It sounds like you did really well for your challenges in February! I meant to read more books I own this year too, but I haven’t been keeping up with that. I think I should do something about that!

  7. Sounds like you had a full week and glad your stomach bug didn’t last long. Mr. Barb is finally feeling a bit better and should be able to return to work tomorrow. Hoping he didn’t share it with me. Congrats on the orchid blooming. How cool that your daughter rescued it. And tell her congrats on her A!

  8. So sorry you were smitten by a stomach bug:(. Glad you have now recovered! And it’s lovely when the orchids start to bloom – mine are budding at the moment… Have a great week, Anne.

  9. I’m glad the stomach bug you and your daughter had didn’t last long. I have started to try to go about my daily routine (when I’m not working) with my headphones on and an audiobook going since my husband and daughter always seem to have their music and podcasts in their ears. But that’s always when they want to talk to me. Every. Time. When I don’t have anything on, they are in their own little worlds. I can’t win. LOL It sounds like you had a great February reading wise, Anne. And what great new books! I am really interested in The Floating Hotel. Have a wonderful March and and week ahead!

  10. Glad you didn’t stay under the weather for long! As you know, I was on vacation last week in Florida. The weather was perfect – upper 70s, low 80s and sunny. We had nice breezes to keep us cool. I managed to walk most days and had a lot of fun. I didn’t read as much as I wanted – but still got in some downtime.
