Sunday, today will be gorgeous and then overnight into the next 3 days will be some rain. Then hot. We will see if the forecast holds. I did the blog visiting. We walked Lulu and ran in to the neighbor and Abbey. I edited some reviews for this week. Then I got out to do the trimming and edging in the yard. I finally finished the long book I was reading at bedtime.
Monday, I got Lulu out before the rain and also picked spinach for dinner. Then I went down a rabbit hole deleting old and junk emails. I took one account from 5000 to 500 but that is my junk / advertising email account. I wrote a review. My brother wanted to talk. He’s looking into Deferred Income Annuities and Long Term care insurance. We discussed this a lot when I was in high school and he was in junior high when my dad was retiring, but he wanted to update me how they have worked out for Mom (very well) and he will probably get some kind of both plans for himself and his wife. We walked Lulu as it hasn’t rained much yet and it sprinkled just a little.
Tuesday, another gray rainy day which I don’t mind. I started a pot roast for tonight. I wrote a review. Somehow I forgot to visit blogs or do Wordle or Connections.
Wednesday, I did some of the usual and then I had an eye appt. I’m still good and don’t need glasses other than readers. I picked up a few things at Aldi and eggs were down to $2.96 / dozen. They were out of cottage cheese and frozen mixed veggies though. I did get milk finally and it’s good for 2 weeks! We walked Lulu and it’s starting to heat up.
Thursday, the green beans are just poking up. I wanted to get up early and overslept because I was awake during the night some. After doing some computer stuff, I managed to get out and mow the backyard and overseed it. There are some bare spots where weeds died. I picked beets for dinner. Then we walked Lulu, running in to the neighbor and Abbey. We have Marley coming to stay with us again mid June and Abbey again in early July, both for long weekends.
Friday, I had a good night and got good start. I wrote a review, then edited and scheduled several other June posts. I looked at what to buy with my last Audible credit. I cancelled and was offered a better plan for 6 months so I did that. Another daylily started blooming!
Saturday, we went out to the farmer’s market this morning and boy did we shop. We got beets, lettuce, tomatoes, green beans, blueberries, strawberries, blackberries and peaches. Our beets and lettuce are almost done and we don’t have any fruits. We walked Lulu when we got home and as I went by the side of the house I noticed something had eaten the top of all the daylilies! Grrr. I think it’s deer. They also ate the hydrangeas in the front yard that were so beautiful yesterday and I didn’t get a photo. Now I’m settled down to work on my posts and visit blogs with a nice glass of iced tea. I edited my daughter’s paper for her ethics class. Tonight we are going to have a bunch of our veggies with seared scallops.
The week ahead looks hotter with late afternoon showers / thundershowers.

Yum, green beans, I hope you get to eat them soon. Too bad about the dear eating your flowers! We aren’t growing anything worth eating here, but we have issues with other things like Carpenter bees and acorn woodpeckers, both which can damage your house if you don’t keep an eye on them.

My day lilies, or ditch lilies as the plant identifier app calls them, don’t usually bloom till sometime in June although all the greenery has sprouted! Sounds like a pretty good week for you. And wow for 30 books last month! I barely got to 12, I’ve been so far below my usual of the past years. But my brain has not been in a great space, so I blame that. Hoping to get more reading done over the summer.

yes I love it and will probably get the audio also. But I’m thrilled about the tv show and the casting. I think that’s in August, not too long after Murderbot ends which I’ve always loved.

I kept trying to do a bit here and there and it was finally easier just to do it all at once.
It was rainy and chilly here last week too. But this week we are suppose to get into the upper 80’s and it is hopefully gonna dry out. Ohio can’t take any more rain. I’m so jealous you got Framed in Death already. I usually get a widget for that but nothing yet.
I like a little rain to keep things cool. I’ve been shocked to get the In Death widgets lately. I love them and would like to read it ASAP. I’ve got one more June eARC I think I will finish first.
Haha, always fun to work around the rainy times. That’s what I do here with my walking and work out in the yard. The weather apps have fun getting our weather right so its always a gamble how my day will work out.
Farmer’s Markets are my cryptonite, too. Neat that so many of the fruits are already in for you.
Those dratted deer. Deer and rabbits are our backyard menace for the plants. Still, you lillies are pretty.
Way to go on your monthly totals especially getting to the TBR pile. Fun that you got an extra deal from Audible when you dropped the old membership.

yes we have to work through the weather. I plan around it. Well there won’t be many lilies on that side of the house since most were eaten. Sigh.

I love this kind of meal. Even with our garden we still want more veggies and fruits we don’t have.
I wish our egg prices would come down that much, I’m still paying $11 for an 18 count. It’s just hot here right now and for the foreseeable future.
idk Mary, maybe we are closer to where production is? But we eat quite a few eggs and use them in cooking and baking so I’m glad they have gone down. They are still twice what they used to be but it is better now.

Our egg prices are still high in places. Depends on where you shop. Local eggs are cheaper. I just requested the new Thursday Murder Club after seeing you list it here. Didn’t realize a new book was coming so soon. I hate it when the deer eat my flowers. I now have most of them fenced in and I spray what ever is out (hydrangea, a climbing rose, and crape myrtle bush) with Deer Mace. It’s way better than the stuff you get at hardware stores, which also smell awful. It doesn’t smell near as bad. I get it from Amazon and it works really well. We’ve had some hot weather here, a mini heat wave with upper 90s for the last two days. We’re back in the 80s right now.
Thanks for the tip about Deer Mace. I’m so miffed about it. It’s like I only have those blooms for maybe a month and they ate them all off. It isn’t in a place easily fenced. I love the Thursday Murder Club. Did you know they are doing the tv show starting in August I think. I love the casting.
I plan to listen to Osman’s newest offering in September. Your garden’s look fantastic. Won’t be long before you are pulling crops. Yay for audiobook challenges.
I’m excited for the Thrusday Murder Club tv show also at the end of August. We’ve been eating garden stuff since February. We get 9 months and some things like broccoli and chard and herbs are available all year.

I should really set up a spam/advertising type account for email; I use the same account as I’ve used since I was a teenager, still, and it’s getting clogged up sometimes with that kind of thing. I bet deleting all that email was pretty satisfying!

yes I’ve had a junk email which I give out at trade shows or giveaway signups or whatever. I mean some of the emails are valid and I read a lot of them. It was satisfying to finally go through and read and delete ones I didn’t need. I mean I bet I delete 50 a day from it. Mur Lafferty has her new one coming early July.
Oh no you are the second person I have read this morning that had deer eat their flowers! And I really need to delete emails. I am so bad at that and have thousands…
Your garden sounds like it is coming very well other than the deer! I like that cage contraption!
I’ve ordered the deer mace which repels deer (and rabbits) from your flowers that Rachel recommended. It’s the first year it’s happened but I’m so sad. The cage is made from cattle panels and while it was a hassle to get them from Tractor supply and shape them – they are amazing and I wish I had made twice as many. The veggies grow up them and I got 5x as many tomatoes and peppers last year using them. I’m hoping to apply that to pole green beans and zucchini this year.
That is such a cute photo of Lulu and your daughter! Great job on your reading. I did not do well in May. Mostly because now that my daughter is home, we are watching TV. Oh well. We are finally getting a stretch of nice days M-Thursday… rain on the weekend, of course.
Since we got a tv at Christmas, we now watch tv often after dinner so then I don’t read as long at bedtime. But it added some knitting time. Our rain is mostly late afternoon or overnight which has worked out well.
What a wonderful reading month! I love the picture of your daughter and Lulu and the day lilies are gorgeous. The weather is finally not raining here and I don’t even mind the humidity because I’m so glad to see the sun! I hope you have a great week!
