Sunday, I am loving the cool breezes even though it is still humid with the high about 80F / 27C. But at night it gets down to 68F/20C. I picked a green pepper when I took Lulu out. Stupid me forgot to change out the battery on the charger for the mower. So I’ll mow late afternoon. We trimmed Lulu’s toenails while outside. I’m doing my Sunday visiting and email stuff. Then I edited and wrote a review. I watched a video on how to assemble the ebike. I spent about a half hour opening the box for the ebike. I used both batteries and still couldn’t finish the lawn! I forgot I was going to walk Lulu before showering but I forgot and couldn’t wait to shower. I stayed up too late reading.
Monday, the weather is still lovely. The first green bean is ready! I hope we get more soon. I went to PT. Then we walked Lulu, said hi to Abbey and the neighbor. I added fertilizer and planted beets for fall. Then I FINALLY was able to finish the lawn mowing. My daughter is having some gastro issues which give her more nausea so we ordered the RX she takes for it. I made carrots and swiss chard from the garden for dinner.
Tuesday, we have a very early PT (EDS) appt for my daughter. I fell asleep in the car during her appt. Then I picked up my night guard at the dentist. Next, we went to our favorite Asian bistro for lunch. We got our usuals and couldn’t eat half of it but that way we have some leftovers. Also in July, they started serving Mexican dishes, also gluten free, and that menu looks awesome.
Wednesday, it’s raining steady. I did the computer stuff in the morning, then ran to do a Walmart pickup. Because I didn’t have celery and wanted to make soup. I wrote some reviews. The rain doesn’t seem to be stopping. I worked in the garage taking everything out of the ebike box. Finally it let up for us to walk with the neighbor and Abbey. The neighbor helped me and my daughter to lift the ebike out of the box. So now I can start assembling. Still raining again around and after dinner.
Thursday, still raining this morning. I did some laundry and took soup over to the neighbor. After lunch, the rain finally stopped and we walked Lulu and Abbey. It was still raining very lightly but it started raining harder later. I went to PT at 5.
Friday, I went out to the garage to start on the ebike assembly while waiting for a neighbor to come over to pick up boxes. I got the handlebars on and took a bit to put the chain on as it was off when it arrived. I helped the neighbor load the boxes. Then I went to do a little computer stuff before going to PT. I wrote some reviews and browsed new possible books to read. I sent a couple new photos and measurements to the solar installer. Then I got the quote for a new HVAC for the attic. It’s $2,400 more than 3 years ago.
Saturday, I went to work on laundry, dishes, menu planning. I finished looking at some ARCs to request. The neighbor asked us to go to an community art event. I had a bunch of other things planned but my daughter went with her. They enjoyed the mural and she worked on the chalk paintings. I wrote a review and requested some ARCs. Then we all walked Abbey and Lulu before dinner. I’m making a batch of Lulu food. The nice weather is still here but it looks like it will heat up midweek after rain the next two days.
RA 2026 I decided after some polls and discussions with friends to choose the Guild Codex series by Annette Marie.
We are not doing all of the Universe. We are doing all of Spellbound, Demonized and half of Warped, in the author suggested reading order which intertwines them. The graphic on the left is actually the 15 books we are reading but sadly, not in order. The purple titles are Spellbound, the red titles are Demonized and the yellow titles are Warped. In order to get to all 15 books, we are starting in October (right after the last Innkeeper book) with the first post in November 2025. This way we have at least 4 weeks for each book. The kickoff announcement will be September 28, 2025. The ebooks are in KindleUnlimited. The audiobooks are at many libraries.

Thank you Tammy. We have had more consistent rain but also more humidity than other years. This past week was more like previous years although also only in the 80s with moderate humidity. I just have to get going on putting the ebike together. But somethings would be much easier with another person to hold it while I place the piece or screws.
I remember that it took myself, my husband and my sister a whole afternoon to assemble her ebike – we didn’t find the instructions all that helpful, either. Glad it’s become cooler for you all. I hope your daughter soon feels better – stomach issues are always so miserable. Have a good week, Anne.
Thank you Sarah. I had the instructions both in the box and I printed basically the same ones from the Internet in case they weren’t in the box. Parts will be easier for someone to hold it still while I attach another part.

Sounds like a busy but nice enough week. I’ve got to remember to get string for my weed trimmer so I can do that as the grass in the rocks on the side of my house is growing now and I have to get it cut down, but can’t mow there. We had some rain off and on in a few times, but never all day rain. Have a great week!

Good luck with the ebike! I can’t wait to hear about it once you are able to enjoy it. We haven’t had any rain here. We have reached the time of year where we rarely get any. August and September are very dry here.
Thank you Samantha. It is usually dry here, in fact last year we had no rain from June until September. This year we were more like I think of Florida with a thunderstorm most afternoons and higher humidity. But this past week we had a couple days of steady light rains with temps in the 70s which was more like Minnesota.
Ha well good luck with the ebike! That looks like some IKEA furniture that you have to assemble on your own!
yes, but the ebike is much heavier than most of the Ikea stuff I have assembled.

We haven’t had rain for several weeks and it’s been hot, but not humid until late evening. I need to figure out my fall plantings. Love that sign your daughter is standing in front of. Sounds like a neat art event!
My husband helped a friend install all his solar and do the electrical (yesterday). It was a complicated job. We had solar when were down south but we had a company install it. It saved us a lot of money because it was so hot in SoCal, we used the A/C all the time and we had a pool. My son did his own a few years later and my husband helped with it. My son’s an engineer and he designed the install for our friend and was on the phone with them all day yesterday and many days last week about the project. We thought about solar here, but we have too much shade over our house and I don’t want a solar farm on our property. Plus, our bill is never that high (for California), because we have so much shade on our house. We have a wood stove so in the winter our bill isn’t that much either. We also have a generator. It powers the whole house if/when the power goes out. My husband looked into doing battery backups here, but it would take 15 years for it to pay for itself in energy savings. Not worth the $15,000 it would take to buy them. At this point anyhow. The batteries and electronics to regulate might go down in cost.
yes solar is a different thing in different areas and different states. Even different installers can affect things. I am excited since I have no shade over the house and there are currently good incentives to install. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
Sounds like assembling that ebike is a bear, but hopefully will be a fun way to get about once its together. LOL, keeping up with the batteries being charged taxes my memory here, too.

Thank you Sophia. First the weather was too hot and now I’m so busy with things. I just haven’t focused on the ebike enough. Plus there were some things I need another person because of the weight or balance.

Thank you Angela. I’m glad you like the RA2026 graphic. I was pretty proud of it because I am not a talent with graphics. The ebike isn’t that hard. It’s more I have had other irons in the fire, and that I need another person for some things as it is heavy and for balance.

My neighbor bought her mother an ebike and has been putting it together for the last 3 days. I see so many of them around here and the motorized scooters.
Mary if I could only get a couple of hours at a go, plus someone to help with the heavy parts I’d be done already. I’m not sure where I’ll ride it as I don’t go much.
It’s like 90 degrees here today :O I’d still rather sit out on the porch and read than be in here on my computer. LOL But your pictures of Lulu always make me smile 🙂

It’s so nice that you’ve had some great weather lately. The weather here has been really erratic this summer. If it’s not raining, it’s been really hot, and I’ve been spending most days either complaining about the heat or the rain! 😅 I also got really curious about ebikes since you mentioned it last time and I meant to find out more about them. I hope you get to enjoy it after you assemble it!

I thought I hated eating green beans for the longest time but it turns out that I really just hate the way my family cans and cooks them. They’re just mush as far as I’m concerned. I like them roasted and still a little crunchy. But I do look fondly back on time on my grandparents’ porch with various extended family members, chit-chatting and stringing and breaking baskets full of beans from their garden as a kid/teen.
yes that would be like how I feel about cauliflower. I like it raw or lightly cooked but the way it is usually cooked is just much.

I’ll admit to feeling envious of your rain. While July is the least rainy month of the year, in the 6 weeks we have been I Shëngjin, it’s rained once. I didn’t realize how much I’d miss rainy Asheville. Thanks for the heads up about Chirp Freebie Fridays!

We had one of our A/C units die on us last year and the cost about caused me to pass out. I get it’s skilled labor but wow is it pricy! Great books from Chirp! I really need to get back to Martha Grimes. It’s been years since I’ve read anything by her. I hope you’ve had a wonderful week.
Thank you Katherine. The unit is now 25 years old installed when the house was built. It works ok but how long will it last? I only see prices increasing with tariffs so now is the time to do it. Although prices have already increased. I recommend the audios for Martha Grimes because it’s my favorite narrator.
How is the night guard working out for you? Do you think it will help? I envy you the rain! I have been mostly indoors so haven’t been out in the heat much. I am looking forward to cooler temperatures. I need to jump back into the Innkeeper Chronicles. My summer blogging break threw me off course. I hope you continue to enjoy your reading and take care!
Thank you Wendy. The night guard is a little odd putting on and taking off but wearing it is ok. I have worn it every night since I got it. We have been about 10 degrees cooler than we were in July but some days the humidity is still higher than usual. The Innkeeper books are relatively short especially the Graphic Audio and so amazing!
Aha! That’s why I was getting so confused on the next read-along… it’s multiple series but intertwining. Now I get it. Like Mercy Thompson and Alpha/Omega series. They really should be considered one! LOL
yes exactly! The three series definitely intertwine and the order we are doing is the author’s recommended one.
