The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.
Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.
Sunday, I have a long list. I have the same list as I had Friday with a bunch of things more. I made a new, organized list, grouping by type of task and highlighting today’s priority in green. I may have to do some shorter, possibly less important things just to reduce the list to feel less overwhelmed. But I made some progress today so I’ll feel better. I was busy and forgot to even eat lunch. I didn’t cook dinner; we had what I call snack meal with cheese and crackers, apples, etc. Then I went back upstairs to try to do a couple hours of more tasks before bedtime. Usually I watch tv with my daughter after dinner.
Monday, I let myself sleep until I woke since I will have to get up extra early the rest of the week. I pushed through many tasks so I felt much more in control than I did over the weekend. I found out the latest version of FS Poster integrates to BlueSky so I’ll probably update mid September. I notified the giveaway winner and sent the prize. We walked Lulu.
Tuesday, I didn’t lollygag as much today but still later than I will the rest of the week. The temperature is definitely lower and the humidity is low and the dewpoint is low. What a great week this will be! Abbey came over at noon and we had to leave by 12:30 for THE appointment. We waited 18 months for this. We got confirmation that my daughter is hEDS and she has 2 further appts for testing to see about any other designations. We picked up a Papa Murphys for lunch/dinner when we got home around 4. We did a little time in the office then we walked the dogs and fed them. We had a salesperson come by to sell us new phones, and internet and it sounded like a good deal. I hope I am not sorry because what we had is fine, but our phones are 5 years old.
Wednesday, I get up earlier when Abbey is staying. It was Lulu who barked this morning not Abbey but Lulu is not loud. I took them out and picked peppers and finally we have a handful of green beans. Then I made their food. It’s the usual dance of trying to keep them separate although I am giving them the same food except Abbey gets kibble with hers because she is a bigger dog and needs more food than Lulu. Ok I am checking more into the deal, and what I can get from my current wireless provider and am already sorry. I really did not need to add more change and research to my schedule. I need to get back and finish up the ebike stuff. In the afternoon, we took Lulu to check out yet another new vet. Since we were right by my favorite garden center, we stopped and I got fall garden plants: lettuces, spinach and beets. When we got home, after lunch, I taught my daughter to run the mower and she mowed the backyard. I raked the old leaves at the back of the yard into the compost pile. Then I planted the new plants and seeds for another basil plant. She did a great job. We walked the dogs and fed them. Then I called about my order to confirm some things.
Thursday, I woke early. I watered the new plants. I thought I would get more done than I did before my afternoon PT appt. I spent a lot of time verifying things about the new Internet and phone plans. After PT, I ran into Lowes Foods to use a gift card and get coleslaw which we use in tacos.
Friday, I started by reading all the notes from the Tuesday appt. There didn’t seem to be anything that needed to go to the PT EDS my daughter sees until after the 2 additional appts. We went to her appt and then to Wegmans and Trader Joes. Then to Harris Teeter for Rx pickup. We listened to Fugitive Telemetry by Martha Wells while driving every where and for maybe a half hour after we got home.
Saturday, I took the dogs outside, and again. Marley came over to say hi. I picked some green peppers and more green beans. I shared some green peppers with the neighbor. The plant is so tall and heavy with peppers so some branches are breaking off. The weather is amazing now. Warm but low humidity. I have the new Internet to install and phones but first today needs to be the ebike testing once my daughter wakes up. I setup some posts. I finished up my posts for tomorrow. Then after lunch, my daughter helped me with the ebike. We had to take the front wheel off again because the axel there were where some of those extra parts went. It was tedious. The fork was on crooked from the body of the bike so I had to fix it. Then I put the battery back on and started it. I walked it to a flatter spot in the road. I started riding by pedaling and then the power took it faster. I put on the brakes to stop it. Then I went to the other side of the road. When I tried to pedal, the back pedal wouldn’t move so I got off and it shot off without me! My daughter called it the worst bike ever. We walked the dogs, enjoying the weather. It’s going to be gorgeous all this week, around 80, with low humidity.
Things I Learned This Week:
OK if I’m asking for help, I’m also going to share the cool things I learn. You may already know them but hopefully it will help someone.
I tried to set up Gleam for a Read-along post in September and found I couldn’t create more than one information collection entry like I use for the Read-along. So I would have to buy it and it’s harder to set up than Giveaway Tools. Most of the entries are set to follow different social media.
I easily set up the September Giveaway for the Read-along in Giveaway. I copied it and made a test version for a couple days to enter data and see that it would collect what I needed. Then I created a Grand Prize Giveaway for the Read-along. I tested making entries and tried to import a Rafflecopter export. Everything would fill in perfectly but when I hit Submit on the import page nothing happens. Maybe I would have to buy the monthly fee version. But it lets me manually enter them, so that is what I will have to do for this one time. But Giveaway Tools will work great for me and is free.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

All my thanks to Harper Audio, Brilliance Audio, Avon,

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

I bought this for $5.99 at the Chirp sale.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

Chirp Friday Freebie:

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

Darling Lulu💜
Anne, you could write a book about your adventures with that bike! I also got the Melinda Leigh book and was so excited to see it show up.
Have a great week!
I’m so done with that bike! It seems odd that a Harley is so much easier. I”m reading the Melinda Leigh book now and loving it. Morgan Dane is in it too. Enjoy your holiday weekend!
Way to go on the Gleam testing and research. I hate the way I feel after attempting (and generally failing) with new technology. I feel old, but I kind of like the way I am. Complicated 😉
I hear you. I’m usually good with technology but I am also getting old.
I’m so glad you were able to have a good appointment with your daughter and confirm what she’s going through. Sorry about the ebike experience! It’s too bad they don’t come assembled already. For the first time I didn’t get a notification email about your post today and your post didn’t show up in the Reader. I have no idea what’s going on… I hope you enjoy your nice weather and have a good week:-)
Thank you Tammy. It was great to finally have someone experienced in her condition putting information together to look at everything from puberty forward. Hopefully he can let us know of any treatments long-term after the rest of the testing and what to watch out for. There aren’t really treatments for the condition, only the symptoms. We have slowly been successful at treating those. One day this week I couldn’t comment on your blog but it seems fine now. Was it WordPress reader or Followit? I checked and you are on the list of subscribers and it shows it going out.
Happy Sunday. We packed up my son on Friday and he’s moved back to college. So now it’s back to “empty nesting” for my husband and me. The weather has been great here and we’ve been hanging out with the neighbors who are also empty nesters (for the first time). I’ve been trying to cross things off my to do list as well.
Thank you Jen. I’m just cranky because usually August is hot and lazy and I can blog ahead and do some crafts. Instead I had solar, new HVAC, PT, big appts for my daughter and now new Internet and cell phones. At least the weather is gorgeous now. Enjoy the holiday!
Sorry the bike was a disaster!! That first picture of Lulu took me a moment to figure out! I thought it was stuffing! The weather here has been amazing and it looks to continue. Its super dry, and we could use a bit of rain, but the temperatures are in the upper 70’s!
Thank you Samantha. Why is a Harley easier? Our weather has been similarly gorgeous and drier the last two weeks.
I’m sure it wasn’t funny but lord I laughed when you said the ebike took off without you! I’m loving this saga.
I also loved the part about taking a long list, making a new list, organizing the list with task groups and green highlights cuz, I love lists.
Thanks Jinjer. It was scary but it didn’t go far. I love lists and organizing, planning and systems.
Thanks for the info about Gleam. It’s been awhile since I ran any giveaways but I always used Rafflecopter in the past. I know I have to search around for other options now, but I haven’t done anything.
I hope you have a great week!
Thank you Yvonne. Gleam isn’t going to work for me. Giveaway Tools is what I will be using.
I hoep that your daughter being properly diagnosed it will hel us Anne!
Thank you Sophie It is helpful, and if new treatments become available it is more likely we will know about them.
I’m a huge fan of Jodi Taylor, and that’s a great price for an audiobook. Zara Ramm is an awesome narrator too.
yes I am trying to collect all the Jodi Taylor books because they are not often at the library, especially on audio. There were more available for sale at Chirp but I already had some of them.
Lower temps and dew point has been so refreshing. I loved being able to leisurely work in the yard and garden and go for longer walks. Ahhh! That’s good that your daughter got the diagnosis and you had the research materials to help. Woohoo for the peppers and beans haul. As early as these fall temps are coming, I don’t think my peppers will be ready before frost kicks in this year- my fault, I put them in a month later because spring was late coming.
Yay you got the new Melinda Leigh. Just finished and it was another good one. Holy cow! That bike is a menace to you.
Have a good week, Anne!
Thank you Sophia. The weather is gorgeous and we are enjoying it on our daily walks and just being outside. We will easily have veggies through November and sometimes even December here. I just finished the Melinda Leigh and loved it.
That e-bike sounds like such a hassle! So frustrating. I hate when I think I’m getting something better like a phone plan and it ends up not being the exact best choice. Hope it will still be okay. You had a busy week too! I guess I’ll have to figure out giveaway tools if I ever do another giveaway after Rafflecopter is gone. Have a good week!
Thanks Lisa. Giveaway Tools was really easy so I’m sure you will be able to use it. It was a very busy week. I’m so glad next week only has 3 medical appts, yes that’s a slow week. But I’ll be graduating from PT and my daughter’s 2 appts are telehealth ones. So lots of time at home.
Hope you have a great week!
Thank you Bree.
woo look at all the green beans! Yay. My pepper plant only gave me one this year but our jalapenos went crazy!
We’re doing ok with green beans and the peppers are full blast like last year. The tomatoes are much weaker than last year though.
Another busy week for you. I hope the diagnosis helps to improve your daughter’s care. Have a wonderful week ahead Anne.
Thank you Jodie. I hope it will help her care and more information to make decisions. She’s actually doing well right now but we want to keep it that way.
Hope you enjoy the new books! I need to read Polaris Rising, figure out whether I like Jessie Mihalik’s work.
I loved Polaris Rising. I think she has a freebie posted on her blog you could try that if you want something shorter.
Whew! It was a week of big appointments all around! I am glad that you finally had the appointment you have been waiting for. That had to have been a relief in itself. I am glad that you got the verification you needed.
Thank you Erin. It is more information so hopefully we can make better decisions.
it’s so hard to find a good, reliable vet that doesn’t want to upcharge you for every little thing. I’ve taken Falcor to 3 different vets for 3 different things over the past 5 years.
yes, I’ve tried 2 different new vets. One is much more expensive but I really liked them. The other is about the same, more reasonable on some things, and we liked them ok.
Oh no, the ebike with a mind of its own! I’m so sorry it seems like the worst bike in the world, and I’m even more sorry I can’t help laughing at the ebike saga! What are you going to do with it?
It’s a demon bike. I’ll wait at least until my brother visits. Possibly sell it then.
Thanks again for researching the giveaway options! I will try it soon. When I catch up. We left a day later from Texas than we planned and now I’m behind. Just got home this afternoon. I have reviews to write and post! Happy to hear the weather has been nice for you. Will the EDS diagnosis change your daughter’s treatments? Good to know exactly what you’re dealing with at any rate. That e-bike has been a nightmare! I hope you get it sorted because they are fun.
Thanks Rachel. I don’t know if it will change her treatments but it will inform us of other possibilities and effects. There isn’t any one size fits all EDS treatment you just mostly have to treat the symptoms. We finally have many of those nailed down. Now it’s just hoping she doesn’t get more symptoms. It’s a demon ebike.
Your veggies look wonderful – so fresh and healthy:)). As for the ebike – don’t get me started! I still cannot get my head around the fact that they are really expensive and yet come disassembled. And the assembly is NOT straightforward or easy! After our experiences with my sister’s bike, I’ve always sworn I’ll never get one… I was hoping that in the US, the service would be better!
Thank you Sarah. I love having the garden. I had no idea it would be so much trouble; the directions were so vague.
OooOOooo lots of goodies! And those veggies?? YUM
I enjoy the veggies even if they are a bit less productive than last year.
