The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.
Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.
Sunday, it’s a cold and rainy, snowy day, bordering on freezing. Lulu woke me up a little early. As usual, I’m hoping to do my visiting and then get on to some other tasks. No walk with the freezing rain. I did spend some time creating new post setups.
Monday, when Lulu went out the ground was frosty. I did the usual. But first I was totally focused on the end of my audiobook. I wrote that review. At 3pm (which is when we have been walking lately) , Lulu came upstairs to me by herself and sat on her hind legs and looked at me. So we bundled up and walked. It was sunny and south wind so really not bad so we walked further. Lulu was ecstatic. I made my list for tomorrow so I can remember things I need to do!
Tuesday, today will get colder again. I got an order from Walmart. I did some investment work. I made appts for the next 2 days. I’m making my phone calls for things and doing my paperwork. I broke and got the audiobook I wanted for January 27 even though I already have 10 things being released that day. I may have lost my mind. We went with Lulu for a cool walk and saw Clover and Maggie. I started making chili and cornbread for our dinner tonight with the neighbor and then we will play games. Abbey barked so much that the neighbor took her home after dinner and came back to play the games. It was fun; we all like games. My daughter is really good at them.
Wednesday, I woke at 5am. I did the usual stuff. The weather wasn’t too bad. The contractor came by to measure all the windows. Marley came over to see me in the yard when I was out with him measuring. We walked Lulu. My daughter didn’t come downstairs for dinner and then I fell asleep while waiting. She was reading. I was listening to my audiobook.
Thursday, I did the visiting and emails again in the morning. I called Humana about whether nutrition consulting is covered and their OTC benefits. My daughter got up finally and I took her for a haircut while I dropped off an Amazon return and got Rx and a couple items at Harris Teeter. Then we walked Lulu. It was supposed to be 60 but the north wind was cold. I read over information about long term insurance before the conference call later in the afternoon. We talked long enough that my daughter left with the neighbor to go to the bar where they have game night. I watched a couple episodes of West Wing since I was on my own and she doesn’t like it.
Friday, lots to do before the freeze shutdown of next week. I talked to the dentist. I changed our next dental appt timing so it wouldn’t be the week we are planning Mom’s funeral. I’ll start planning our travel arrangements soon. We may also go up to Minnesota for a couple days too. I don’t think I’ve been back since 2017. With Covid we just haven’t traveled. We walked Lulu and ran into the neighbor and Abbey.
Saturday, it is colder just below freezing. It will start with the freezing rain and snow in a couple hours and continue through tomorrow. I’ve been visiting blogs, writing a review. We took a short walk with Lulu and she need a sweater and a coat!.

My sincere thanks to Brilliance Audio, Macmillan Audio (2).

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)
none.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

Chirp Friday freebie:

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

Be careful in the freezing weather! Game night with the neighbors sounds like fun😁
Thanks Tammy. Don’t worry about me – I lived in MN for 35 years. I know winter and winter driving. I still have all my MN clothes! I love the games but don’t feel like they are very productive when I have needed things to do.
I don’t blame you for not walking Lulu when it’s freezing. Back when we had Diesel – he pulled me over twice when it was frosty. Luckily both times it was on the grass rather than the pavement, but the ground was still very hard. What fun having such a games night – we love playing games, too:)). Hope the coming week is a good one, Anne.
Thank you Sarah. yes since much of the precipitation was freezing rain it’s a hard white dome. We’re best to just stay home until the next few days when it melts.
It sounds like a busy week, that’s good you have been able to walk Lulu. The snow started by us around 6am this morning and is coming down steadily since so we can’t shovel yet. Otis can’t go outside and has to use the weewee pad for today. Enchanting the Fae Queen looks like a good one.
Poor Otis. Poor Lulu. Lulu went out but she wasn’t a fan. She had on her sweater and then a coat on top. Hopefully it will melt in a couple days. We got more freezing rain than snow.
We didn’t get any freezing rain this time, it was all snow for us, and really dry snow, so not bad thankfully. But we are having the frigid temps! I wish I had neighbors to do things with. I miss the neighbors I had up until last spring. We didn’t do things together or anything, but we would watch for packages for each other and keep an eye on each other’s houses at least. Now I feel kind of alone in my neighborhood. Oh well, that’s life I guess. I hope you are keeping warm and safe as the storm gets to you! Have a good week!
Well partly the neighbor and I support each other because neither of us has any family in town. You have lots of family nearby.
Be careful with all this bad weather. I hope you stay warm and safe.
Thanks Yvonne. We are totally staying home. We normally do anyway.
That freezing rain is no fun. Poor Lulu. She loves getting outside! My cats go nuts when they’re stuck inside. Game night sounds fun and a perfect activity for this kind of weather. I have The Girls Before, too. I hope we both love it!
Thanks Rachel. Lulu does so love going out for her walks. She hates this weather though. Maybe Wednesday when the wind is from the south. It will still be only 35 but a south wind will feel better than a strong north one.
Cutting back on freebies sounds totally unnecessary! 😉 And you apparently don’t need a clock with Lulu to tell you when to do something. Hahahaha
Lulu is scary good at knowing the time for the walk and dinner time. Although sometimes she wants to go earlier.
Hopefully everyone stays warm and safe with the weather headed your way! I lived in Raleigh for several years and they just don’t really have a plan for ice/snow other than waiting for it to melt. We got a little over a foot of snow. Tomorrow the low is below 0. I’m not excited for that.
I hear you. If I can’t ski or something, the snow is just a distraction. Lulu hates it. I don’t mind since we are staying home anyway. It doesn’t make sense for Raleigh to spend a bunch on it since we just don’t have snow that often. Unlike MN, where I lived and has all the best equipment and is good at handling a storm. In MN a foot of snow is not a big storm. 22 inches is getting there. -10 is normalish. -25 for the high for multiple days is getting more of a problem.
I really need to give the Stephanie Burgis series a go! People are making me very curious about it. Hope you enjoy the new books!
I’ve really enjoyed everything Stephanie Burgis so I hope you get to read her work.
Like you I’m a planner and try to get things done ahead of time if the weather is expected to be bad. I hope it warms up for you soon but in the meantime happy reading!
Thanks Jodie. I might as well read because we are not going out. We didn’t get as much snow as we might have but the freezing rain is not conducive to running around. The warm up won’t be until next week I’m afraid.
Stay warm! Hope you have a good week.
Thanks Bree. We are staying in and waiting for the warmer weather next week.
West Wing is such a good show, they should probably relabel it as fantasy though. *Sigh*
Wishing you a happy reading week, stay warm.
Thank you Shelleyrae. I haven’t settled into West Wing yet but so far I like it. We are staying in. Stay cool!
We were lucky and didn’t get too much (I live in NC). Forecast said a lot more but the storm had other ideas. The roads are still pretty icy and dangerous, so everyone has work cancelled for Monday. Not gonna complain about that!
Hope you guys stay safe and warm!
yes I’m in Raleigh. I don’t think we got as much snow but there was plenty of ice. We are just staying inside.
Honestly, I’ve cut down on my freebies too. I had so many……
I try to make sure if I take a freebie it is one I think I will really read. I’ve gotten more picky.
This weather is just ass! lol I’ve had to sweater up our dogs, too. The cold is bad enough, but that wind! Nasty! So many memories of Ohio. Thankfully the storm was not as bad as expected here. Whew! Hope you’re staying warm!
Thanks Carol. Lulu hates it. The freezing rain and cold winds are not my friend. We’ve just stayed inside at home and so we are good.
I am trying to dig into my freebies in earnest this year. I hope the horrible cold doesn’t last very long!
Well the cold is going to last the whole week, but some days less cold. It won’t get back to seasonal norms for 10 days or so. I read a lot of freebies last year and I’m more focused on books I own (that cost something) this year.
My dog does the same thing when he wants to go out. Comes over and stares at me until I get up. lol
It’s either she wants to walk or eat. Lulu mostly just holds it and waits until we take her out. Really she should get after us on it.
I was so busy last week. I was busy with work and then in the car all day Thursday, driving to my sisters. I had a lovely but cut short, weekend with my mom and sister’s family. I drove all afternoon/night on Saturday to get home before the snow. We ended up with 18+ inches. Good thing I don’t have anywhere to be!
That is MN levels of snow! I don’t trust the drivers here. We mostly got ice, freezing rain. It’s cold so it is not melting either.
The weather is terrible, and now, of course, we all have head colds. I hope things warm up soon for you. We won’t go above 31 over the next 10 days, and most days we don’t hit 20 degrees. Is it spring yet? My mom is having all sorts of issues with her insurance. We need universal healthcare for all. SMH.
I certainly agree with universal healthcare. We won’t get much above 35 and the ice isn’t melting. Our normal winter is 50/30 and we are 35 / 15.
