The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.
Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar. Read-along giveaway ends tonight!
Sunday, well I tried to revoke and reconnect my Goodreads and it revoked but won’t reconnect now. I’ll try again periodically but it’s likely gone. My daughter went with the neighbor to see The Devil Wears Prada 2. I was visiting blogs and then on the Read-along chat. Then she was home and we walked Lulu. Next she started edging the yard and I mowed. The weather was nice today and not humid. After dinner, I updated for the June headers on socials and the blog. I edited and scheduled some posts.
Monday, the usual changing bed sheets, and I did some pickup. I setup posts for a new eARC I got. I called our regular doctor to get our annual checkups scheduled for July, and scheduled Lulu’s allergy shot. I placed a Walmart delivery order for things we are low on. We walked Lulu. I wrote my reviews and set up some more posts.

Tuesday, I woke at 4, read until 7, then went back to sleep for an hour. I’m doing more takeout and fun foods for this week with my daughter’s birthday. After the usual stuff, we walked Lulu. I didn’t have treats and we saw Clover, Maggie, Finley and Sassy! Sad. My daughter and I cleaned stuff out of the car. I went out to errands. First I stopped at the car wash. After the wash, they have free vacuums and cleaning sprays and towels so I did some inside cleaning also. Then I dropped off old medications for disposal. Last I got the Papa Murphy’s Pizza and even had a $5 reward. I put $5 in the tip jar. I texted my daughter to turn on the oven. We were able to eat before she went to bingo with the neighbor. I watered the gardens and sprayed deer mace. I put away the Amazon order.
Wednesday, I wrapped my daughter’s birthday gifts. I was trying then to get all the stuff done before our birthday plans. I got my review written. After lunch we walked Lulu. We, along with the neighbor, set off on our plans. The neighbor gave my daughter a cute pair of handmade earrings she got at a market in South America. We went to a thrift store, then tried the new refresher drinks at MacDonalds (I prefer the Wendy’s lemonades), and then to a Goodwill thrift store. My daughter really got lucky there. She found shirts and pants and a few dresses that were just awesome and well fitting for her. One was a Tommy Hilfiger dress she can wear at the funeral. I got a pair of Talbot pants. We went on to an Italian restaurant for dinner that was lovely. Lulu was so happy to see us when we got home she was wagging her whole body and followed us around.

Thursday, I tried to wrap up things for the funeral. I finally narrowed down the photos to use in a poster. I got a call from the caterer and paid that bill. I talked to AAA to see if they could do a trip info thing noting all the Sam’s Club on our trip route, EV charging options near the hotels where we are staying, and gluten free restaurants. I don’t know if they can actually do it but I thought it wouldn’t hurt to see what they could do since I pay for the service. Then I finally got to the usual day computer stuff.
Friday, I tried on the dress I want to wear for the funeral and it fits. I also tried on a bunch of shoes. None are really dressy enough for the dress though. I worked to get my computer stuff done a bit before we left for my daughter’s PT appt. Afterward, we went nearby to try out a place that had gluten free chicken nuggets and hand cut fries. We split one order. Then we picked up a few items at
Aldi and Wegmans. Then she had an appt with her primary care doctor to deal with a few questions, and help with insurance for the PT. Then a stop for a couple things at Trader Joes. We stopped at home to put away the groceries and walk Lulu. Then we ran to Harris Teeter for all my daughter’s RX. We ate leftovers. Then I needed to write my review for Saturday before bed.
Saturday. I tried to figure out what to review this week. I set up some reviews. I worked on our trip arrangements for going to the funeral. We walked Lulu. We saw Marley when we got back. Then I had to do the visiting and get this Sunday post finished up. We had leftovers again. The neighbor came over after dinner so I could show her how I water for when we are gone as I don’t want all the plants to die.
May Reading:
I managed to read 21 books. Audiobooks continue to help me read more. Although this month my total increased because I was finally able to read some ebooks. Some count for more than one challenge.
- 16 Audiobooks
- 3 Library books
- 16 COYER
- 8 Books I Own
All Library books (including ones not reviewed on the blog) 2026 Library Love Challenge
I did manage to read 8 books I own (goal is 3 per month):

- 🎧 The Naturalist Society by Carrie Vaughn
- 🎧 Bad Blood by Angela Marsons
- 🎧 Platform Decay by Martha Wells
- Catalyst by Rachel Grant
- 🎧 Guilty Mothers by Angela Marsons
- 🎧 36 Hours by Angela Marsons

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):
My big thanks to Random House, Grand Central Publishing.

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)
I purchased at Audible for 1 credit.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

Chirp Friday freebie:
I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

I hope AAA was able to help you with the locations along the way. I’ve never thought to ask something like that. We have AAA as well and I hardly ever put it to use. Your plants are looking nice. Hope everything goes well with the funeral service.
Thanks Rachel. We will see how AAA does. The woman seemed like she thought she could do something. I will still have to do some stuff on my own in case her work is not enough. But I pay for it every year so if they can do anything I should try it. I choose the most adaptable, easy perennials with the longest or repeat blooming.
Sweet Lulu💜
Anne, your garden looks lovely! Happy reading.
Thank you Jonetta. It’s getting to the heat of summer and mostly I just enjoy the garden and Lulu. I don’t know how there are mosquitos with the fact we’ve had no rain this year.
Good luck with the service, Anne. You have made so many preparations, I’m sure things will go smoothly. Your flowers and plants look like they’re doing well!
Thanks Tammy. I have more preparation to do. But that allows us to have more options and a more smooth trip. I’m loving the garden right now but with the watering restrictions and lack of rain I need to water at their approved times once a week.
As usual your garden looks fantastic! Did your daughter enjoy The Devil wears Prada 2? I was a little disappointed so I am curious!
Thanks Sophie. My daughter didn’t say much just she liked it ok.
Yay for 21 books last month! Happy birthday to your daughter! I’m sorry I missed the read-along chat, right now it’s possible I might miss this month too, but I’m going to try to get my mom to be on the road to Branson early enough that I can get there and be on the chat in our cabin we are going to stay in. Lots of pretty flowers! Hope this is a good week for you.
Thanks Lisa. I hope you make the chat and wish I could. This month it’s the day of my mom’s funeral which I couldn’t know when I planned the year long schedule. I’m still hoping I can pop in but probably not. The gardens are lovely this time of year.
That is totally understandable! I also meant to tell you I also now noticed my Goodreads reviews are not updating, which I just set up like a month ago sadly.
I am so sorry.
I want to see Devil Wears Prada 2 ! Did your daughter enjoy it? Beautiful flowers! I love daylilies but we don’t have great light for them here so I just enjoy other peoples. Have a great week!
Thank you Katherine, sadly my daughter said she liked it but not much else. Daylilies are extremely adaptable but they do flower more when they get some sun.
Your garden looks absolutely lovely! Huge congrats on listening to so many audiobooks in May—you found some fantastic library gems and a great batch of freebies, too. Wishing you a wonderful week ahead!
Thank you so much Angela. I’m hanging in there and feel like I might make it through this month now.
Your garden looks great. Is that a hydrangea bush? I have one too and it blooms purple. I hope everything goes well with the service and traveling. Happy birthday to your daughter!
Thank you Naida. yes the pinkish blueish bush is a hydrangea. It’s finally getting a little bigger.
I’ve been having problems with Goodreads and my Kindles. They used to be connected and I had no problems. All of a sudden it’s telling me it’s because of Amazon. Whatever, I gave up. I’ll just use Goodreads on my home computer.
Your pictures look so pretty. Hope you have a great week.
Thank you Yvonne. I use Goodreads on my computer and my phone. And I read and listen almost totally on my phone these days as it travels everywhere.
You did some fun things to make your daughter’s birthday week special and I’m glad everything is falling in order for your funeral trip. Good idea to try AAA trip maker. I did one for a vacation we took a while back and was well pleased with what they sent along. Your yard garden boxes are looking lush with growth. Way to go on your reading/listening numbers especially the ones from your own shelf. Quite a bit for as busy as you are.
Have a good week, Anne!
Thank you Sophia. Things are a bit better now. I’ve got some things nailed down. I’m still a bit slow on my review schedule but I’m getting there.
Beautiful photos of your garden. My daylilies are coming out now too. I hope everything comes together for you for the funeral. Take care.
Thank you Jodie. I feel like I am getting more things nailed down. So hopefully it will go smoothly. I’m loving all the perennials I have blooming.
That Polk book looks interesting. I have to check it out
I like her books. They usually have some romance and some uplifting themes. There’s often LGBTQ themes.
I hope AAA can help! And all your plants look amazing! I hope you have safe travels!
Thanks Samantha. I don’t know what they will do but as you say, hopefully it will help. The garden is gorgeous right now but everything could use some rain.
Nice flower pics!
I’d only just seen C.L. Polk had a new book, can’t wait to try that myself. Hope you enjoy.
Thanks Nicky. I always enjoy CL Polk books. They always seem touching and the main characters are good people fighting for good outcomes.
Your flowers look so lovely! Awesome May Wrap-Up! Your garden looks so wonderful. I love it.
Lulu is such a cutie. I love to see photos of her and so cute to hear about her walks.
Have a great week!
Thank you Sara. Lulu is our best girl so we make sure she has anything she needs. The garden is in a good place except for the need for more rain.
Sounds like a good week overall, and a great month for reading. We listened to The Martian on audio and loved it. And as you already know I’m enjoying Platform Decay.
Thanks Olivia. I saw Albania put the kibosh on the Kushner scam. Good work! I love the scifi books. I’m going to try Artemis next. I own it.
Also, I find it nearly impossible to pass up book freebies.
Well especially if they are free and digital format I don’t see a downside.
Happy birthday to your daughter! Your plants are so pretty.
Thank you AJ. I hope things improve for you soon.
Your day lilies are stunning! And happy birthday to your daughter!
My in-laws have recently used AAA for their TripTiks route planning. They were very happy with it but they don’t have the charging and dietary restrictions you do. I bet AAA will come through for you though.
I didn’t realize that CL Polk has a new book coming out. I liked their Witchmark series well enough but I really liked Even Though I Knew the End.
Thanks Jen. Daylilies are just the easiest and best perennials. We will see how AAA does. I also enjoyed the Witchmark series, loved the covers, and The Midnight Bargain.
It is always nice when a dress you planned to wear fits. I hope you have a wonderful week.
Thank you!
Sounds like you are getting everything read for the funeral. I hope it all goes smoothly. Your flowers are lovely. We are about a month behind you. I don’t garden, but I did buy a mint plant and repotted it. I love mint in my water and such, so I hope I don’t kill it! You did great with your May reading. I’m still falling behind. Oh well! I hope you have a great week.
Thank you Jen. I still feel like I am falling behind. It is extremely hard to kill mint. And it will take over any bed so I have mine in a pot. I love how my perennials take so little work over the years other than making sure they have some water which is a challenge this year.
If AAA can’t do it, I wonder if Chat GPT can.
That is a CUTE picture of Lulu and yes, how SAD that you didn’t have treats for all the friends you met on the walk.
Happy Birthday to your daughter!
Thanks Jinjer. I hate it when I see them and I don’t have treats with me.
Be proud. I planted some flowers in my garden. I rarely ever do that. I’m not one with a green-thumb
If you choose the easy perennials you don’t need a green thumb.
