I read quickly and easily. Finally we are getting at the heart of the family and Margo’s rift with her mother. Margo gets a call from a nurse who worked with her dad. Maybe Margo can finally solve the crime which put her father in prison. The  Angelhart Investigations series is fast paced and the […]
I don’t read very much nonfiction or history. I also used to never read or be involved in any politics. But things have really gone off the deep end the last 10 years and I can’t ignore it anymore. So I am reading books now by people with more political experience than me. It all […]
Dervla McTiernan books are never boring. Three Reasons for Revenge was a tension that built from start to finish. At first, one is just stumbling around with a variety of different characters trying to understand what they ae doing or how they relate to one another. DS Judith Lee is part of the homicide team. […]
I am still a little giddy about discovering the first book in the The Ernest Cunningham Series. I think that this is a series I could re-read regularly and still find it hilarious. I never stop rooting for Ern to solve the mysteries (and survive) and I was thrilled to learn that HBO is making […]
In the middle of an epic fantasy series, I needed a break from intricate world-building and multiple story arcs. A library list of contemporary romance included Disorderly Conduct by Tessa Bailey. A series built around Police Academy recruits was something completely new to me, and given that it was Tessa Bailey, an author known for […]
I admit I’m not in a fantasy mood exactly. I mean fantasy seems to have pretty usual plot lines. Silver & Blood has that standard. The character details and development are what make it more. Garrick is a king who has been cursed. Riella is a young woman who has just discovered her magic. She […]
The Quinn & Costa series has been a favorite since the first book. Kara Quinn is the main character and her skills are solid. She grew up street smart and grifter smart so she knows how to blend and read people. The backdrop to the series is Kara’s developing relationship with Matt. Kara Quinn is […]
Everyone on This Train is a Suspect is a cleverly plotted, humorous mystery for fans of classic whodunits and meta-fiction. Â It is a fresh, self-aware take on the traditional locked-room mystery (although it should be noted that there are actually no locks on any of the rooms on the train), and delivers an engaging and […]
I have read all four series by J.A. Jance for a long time.  I always recommend to read series in order.  I love all the series because they are smart, compassionate and fun. The Girl From Devil’s Lake is in the Joanna Brady series. I have read every one of them. I find it the […]
I consider Karen Marie Moning, referred to by fans as KMM, is Urban Fantasy royalty. She’s the author of what I often think was my first favorite series in the genre, and I hold Fever as a sort of benchmark when I read any subsequent urban fantasy series. The House at Watch Hill, her latest […]
