The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.

Somehow I forgot to include the giveaway for the Series on Saturday – historical amateur British detectives –  so I updated the post with the giveaway, open for the next 2 weeks, until the end of the month.   It’s on the right sidebar.  No one even mentioned it in the comments!

Sunday was sort of a wintry mix, mostly freezing rain.  We got a few branches down in the yard but kept our power. Lulu hated it and would barely go out to potty. I got to wear PJ pants for the day because I knew I wasn’t going out.  I did blog visiting and worked on a few other computer things.  I worked on a menu plan and grocery order.

Monday,  still cold and windy.  I picked up sticks in half the backyard when I took Lulu out. I got an Instacart from Food Lion.  Since some items were unavailable,  I placed another order for Wegmans.  I don’t get things from there often so I also got some gluten free items we don’t get very often. Well the sheet pan Asian chicken dish I made for dinner was awesome.  I didn’t use the veggies in the recipe other than carrots. I used onions, snow peas, carrots and baby corn.  I was able to get cream and fat free half n half.  Cream cheese seems to be in short supply right now.  I had to start a new ebook and a new audio today and I hate that.

Tuesday,  warming up a bit.  Lulu and I were able to walk comfortably even though it was mid 40s the sun was shining. I felt really tired afterward.  But I continued to do things like order 4 free COVID test kits thru the USPS.  Oh  and very cool – I saw Jeaniene Frost posted the first review post to her blog today!  I hope that means more will join the Read-along and share their thoughts.  I set up Walmart pickup for Thursday since we will be out for the first time in 2 weeks.  Good timing since it was the only day available through Sunday.

Wednesday,  I didn’t get up early but the day is gorgeous 55F ~13C.  I got right to work laundering sheets and washing/scrubbing some rugs. It’s the day to get it done before the freezing rain and temperature drops tomorrow & Friday. Lulu and I had a nice walk.  My daughter got up early to help me trim her toenails before it got dark.

Thursday,  rain today.  My daughter had a doc appt and a chiro/ massage appt.  I did the Walmart pickup.  I got most of what I needed but boy, there were many items out of stock.  That’s more recent.  I was tired when I got home and lingered a bit too long at the computer and burned the whole pan of Asian veggies for dinner.  Luckily there were enough leftovers from earlier in the week for tonight.   By 9 pm,  both my daughter and I were like, well isn’t it time to go to sleep now?

Friday,  cold and ice but surprisingly not snow.  So Lulu was fine going out in her coat. I need to do a menu plan. I did another Instacart from Wegmans but it may not come until tomorrow.  I baked some peanut butter cookies.  Late afternoon, we got slow snowflakes falling.

Saturday, I’d guess we got 2 inches of snow maybe.  I broke my shovel maybe 2 years ago.  I have a new one coming, too late for this weekend.  I used a broom to sweep the steps in back and the steps and walk in front.  Lulu didn’t want to go outside.  I took her out in a coat, but she wouldn’t go potty. We came in and I let her be for a bit, then I got my boots and her plastic boots.  Her boots only stayed on for a short time, she only had one left when we came back.  We walked up to the corner and back, usually she marks often, but she didn’t at all.  So when we got home we went back in the back yard and finally she went.  I was only wearing a jacket, and it didn’t feel that cold even though it was 31F/ 0C and sunny.  It will all be melted by tomorrow.   The Wegmans order made it just before 5pm.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

Thank you so much to AceRoc.

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

NOTHING.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

  1. What I’d do for mid 40’s right about now. I couldn’t drive the last few days because it was slippery as all get out. I hope your dog finds the ambition to go out and have a great weak.

    • Lulu is doing slightly better with it. It’s cold for her, I saw her shivering when I took her out even tho she was wearing her coat and the sun was shining and the wind from the south. The snow makes her wet and cold. I wish the plastic boots would stay on. I ordered her some waterproof fleece socks which might be more flexible and stay on better. ?

  2. Lulu! Otis is the same he doesn’t want to go out when the weather is this cold. We’ve had snow and ice here too. Enjoy your books this week, Cowboy’s Kiss looks good.

  3. Cream cheese is definitely in short supply lately. My last two grocery orders haven’t had the cream cheese but when I popped into Aldi they had plenty. So weird. I got our Covid tests ordered, too, and made sure my mom and sisters knew about it. Too bad about the burned veggies! But the peanut butter cookies sound delicious. 🙂

    • Yeah it’s hard to know what to stock up and what to use. I’m enjoying trying new recipes and finding some we really like. I knew the timing and so it was stupid to let them burn. I debate sometimes whether to cook at a normal time whether my daughter gets up or not, getting her up when I’m making dinner, or just making it and if she gets up fine and if not, she can have it later. If I wait for her to get up I definitely end up eating too close to my bedtime.

  4. My dogs like playing in the snow. They still expect us to walk them in it. I have heard that there are some shortages at stores. I haven’t seen it myself but I have been avoiding going for groceries. I hope that you have a great week, Anne!

  5. We have a little snow too. I don’t blame the dog for not wanting to go out lol. I want to hibernate too. 🙂 The veggies sound good, I love baby corn in Asian meals. We had to get some tests too since just found out we were exposed at work. Ugh.

Hope you are having a nice weekend! 🙂

    • Thank you Greg! Nobody wants to go out if it’s cold and especially if it’s windy. It warmed up right away so it’s all melting and Lulu goes to the melted spots in the yard. lol I got the tests to have them on hand, just in case. But since we mostly stay home we’ve not been sick this year in any way. I think it will be bad until March or April so we are being more careful until then.

  6. Oh dear…hope it warms up for poor Lulu soon. I read something about putting a tarp down before it snows and that way you end up with a patch of yard without snow for doggie to do their business on!

  7. I am bummed out by the shortage of cream cheese, too! One of my favorite spreads, and now…nothing!

Your weather report is making me shiver, LOL.

Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.

  8. Jen

Sounds like a typical January week – sometimes January can be so blah! LOL. It’s been really cold up here, so I haven’t been outside much at all. I’ve become a whimp. And lazy. But I am finally over my cold and sleeping better. I also got to Boston with my daughter and our friends to see Pretty Woman the Musical – it was totally fun and cute. Now it’s Monday again and I want to go under the covers and read. lol.

    • The weather definitely affects my energy level. It’s been sunny and melting so I’m feeling better. I’m so glad to hear you are over your cold, that makes me so tired. I’ve been staying ahead on reading for blog posts so I’m feeling like I have a bit of breathing room, not so worried about getting finished.

  9. Lulu is so cute, love the paw prints! I’m ordering groceries etc. too, from 3 different places. I’ve had no trouble getting cream cheese, but it’s hard to find cans of Code Red 🙁

    Have a great week!

  10. Oh, I’m with Lulu – I HATE the snow! But all the dogs we’ve ever had tended to go mad in frosty and cold conditions so I’m intrigued at just how much she loathes it. I hope the weather soon gets warmer and you are having a reasonable week, Anne. Many thanks for swinging by:)).

    • Thank you Sarah. Everyone seems able to empathize with Lulu, she is the best girl after all. I think it is more being a southern girl, she has only experienced snow maybe 3 times. And unlike Minnesota where it would last for months, here it only lasts a day or two. She is cautious of new things, new people, being a rescue who came from a dicey situation. It’s going to be almost 60F today 14C, but possible snow again Saturday. But we’ve had lots of good sunny walks since the snow already.

  11. I think Lulu and I feel similarly about cold wet weather 😂

So cool that Jeaniene Frost posted the review to her blog – maybe that will attract more people next month. We had a great sowing for the first book though ❤️

    I hope you’re having a great week!

  12. Poor Lulu! I don’t blame her for not wanting to go out in the snow; that’s not fun for a little dog who’s not used to the cold.

That’s so cool that Jeanniene Frost posted your review post! I hope it does bring more people into your readalong. (Which I thought about doing, but… I’m just not that into vampires, generally speaking. I’m sorry!)

  13. I always love the snow and the cold. But reading poor Lulu’s struggles.. I hope it gets better for her.
Thanks for the freeby tips.. I’m definitely checking out the Linsey Lanier book.
Have a great week and happy reading.
