Shane Maguire is over-stressed and under-loved. He’s finally landed a respectable job at an upscale restaurant, but the brutal hours have butchered his chances at romance. When his dad suggests he fill the void with a pet, Shane agrees and falls head-over-heels for a gorgeous shelter kitten. There’s only one problem: the handsome stranger who claims he saw her first. They can’t both adopt her, so Shane proposes they share custody . . . of a cat. What could go wrong?
Damian Murphy used to love working from home, but prolonged isolation has made the passing days a blur. He hopes his adorable new tabby will shake things up. Now if only Shane would stop insisting she’s their cat and disappear already, same as all the other men in his life. But the more time they spend together, the harder it is to deny their smoldering chemistry.
Meatball is a kitten. She is very cute, which is important because of reasons. For such a little cat, Meatball has big problems. Her dads are in denial, and as much as she enjoys watching them dance around each other, they need a claw in the right direction. If the three of them are going to be a real family, someone will have to play matchmaker. And Meatball is just the intrepid kitty for the job.
A nervy young guy doesn’t want to disappoint his parents after he left college, which they were paying for, to pursue his dream of being a chef and having his own restaurant. His parents say they are behind him, but, yes, they would love to see him in a steady relationship with a good guy, and in the meantime, his dad suggests a pet for his new bachelor pad. As usual, Shane’s simple trip to the animal shelter just to look at puppies escalates to a ‘custody battle’ over a ginger-striped female kitten. And, the complications and mischief ensues when a little girl cat plays matchmaker.
Are You Kitten Me? is by a new to me author and is a fun romcom-style standalone. I read it during the holiday season and the sweet, light tone worked great for my holiday mood. The frolicking kitten, friends, pet ownership mishaps, and their very interested parents who already know each other through a community cooking class make it a quick, easy read.
Shane and Damian have their personal issues and the need to grow, but they’re both gunshy about relationships, too, so the tentative nature of sharing the little kitten helps them ease into something together slowly with the focus on the kitten. I found the conflict was easy enough to see a solution long before this pair did and there were slow moments, but, all in all, it was a straight up sweet and spicy low-angst romance. Oh, and it’s a foodie that left me hungry often.
All in all, my first try of Quinn Anderson’s books was delightful and I can recommend this one to those who enjoy light, easy m/m contemporary romance or romcom.

It’s been a while since I haven’t read a romance like that but it looks nice!
It was sweet and fun and a good distraction just before the holidays.
It sounds light and fluffy which can be nice to read when things in the real world are stressful
You said it exactly, Victoria! 🙂
I love kitten antics! This sounds cute and like a lot of fun. Fab review, Sophia!
I had a good time with this one and the kitten was definitely a key character. She led this pair on a merry chase.
That title is too cute and this sounds good.
Oh yeah, the title caught my attention right off the bat. It was a cutie.
I love that the kitten plays a big part in the story!
She was a cute little mischief-maker.
It is always nice to find a new author whose work one can enjoy.
You said it, Nadene!
My review partner read this one. It sounds so cute. But the idea of sharing a pet with a stranger seems odd. Glad it ended up as a meet-cute!
Yeah, the stranger part would definitely be a no-no in real life for me. This pair were actually living in the same apartment complex and their parents knew each other so it wasn’t completely unconnected strangers at least.
Oh yes, it was a cutie! 🙂
Kitty!!!
Oh yes, she was a little princess kitty and knew it. 😉
This sounds like such a fun romance! I love it when animals are a part of the story.
I’m a sucker for strong animal presence, too. She was such a little tart and worked her wiles on this pair. 🙂
I almost signed up for this one to read. Glad to hear it was a fun/cute rom-com. Great review!
It’s so hard to fit in all the books that sound good. 🙂
