Sunday, the weather is chillier. I am going to bed earlier these days, usually by 10 and getting up earlier. With dog guests, I am the morning greeter and my daughter is the bed time provider. I visited the Sunday posts, and now I’ll be editing and writing a review. I need to work on my BBNYA reads. I tried different PDF viewers on my iphone so I could read them other than at the computer. I sent the pdfs to Kindle but that wasn’t easy to read either. Eventually I got it worked out. I also need to get to the yardwork. The leaves in back are getting thick. Before I went to sleep, I finished the first of my BBNYA reads.
Monday, it rained overnight and we may have some scattered rain today. Luckily, it was not raining when I took the dogs out. I listened to my audiobook while I fixed our breakfasts and cleaned up in the kitchen. I’m finishing up for tomorrow’s review. I’m not sure what is happening but my Bluesky followers have doubled the last couple weeks. Mastodon seems oddly quiet. I don’t know what to think about Threads. I started a new audio ARC, a new ebook and a new BBNYA finalist book today. My daughter and I walked Lulu and Marley, ran into the neighbor and Abby. Then I decided I had to do some leaf blowing. I ended up doing quite a bit, draining both batteries I have for my blower in just under an hour. I was so interested in my book I read late.
Tuesday, today is the day of all the errands. I got started late because I was loading an audiobook to my phone which usually takes 5 minutes and it took an hour!! Anyway, I did the car inspection, mailed prizes at the post office, got groceries at Aldi and Trader Joes, picked up pizza at Papa Murphys, and then got cash at a cash machine. Then the usual walk with my daughter, Lulu and Marley.
Wednesday, I slept well. Today is a lovely day at home. It’s colder got into the 30s overnight and the high is only supposed to be 59F / 15C. I did my usual visiting and wrote a review while my daughter was still asleep. My daughter and I walked Lulu and Marley with our neighbor and Abby.
Thursday, I got up as early as I could manage so I could get the dogs out before the rain started. It will likely rain most of the day. I think Bluesky is going to be the best platform but it’s the hardest for auto sharing. My follows there have increased dramatically the past week. In the afternoon, we went to my daughter’s physical therapy appt. When we got back, we were immediately going to walk the dogs and as soon as we stepped out the door it started raining. So we took them to the back yard and luckily they did their business before it started raining hard. I made calls to try to figure out my daughter’s health plan for 2025. I think I know more but I’ll need more information tomorrow.
Friday, I made more calls to try to figure out healthcare for my daughter. I wrote a few reviews. My daughter finally got up and we got the info on one of her medications. Then we made an appt for next week for her since she is still having a lot of nausea. We walked Lulu and Marley and I felt cold most of the day. I noticed that Hoopla has discontinued a LOT of titles. Are the Hoopla offerings different from each library?
Saturday, I got up slowly. Marley and Lulu are playing. I’m doing my usual computer stuff. I worked some finally on the Library Love setup which Angela did all the work in August. I looked through a bunch of audio freebies on Stuff Your Earbuds. My daughter and I walked Lulu and Marley. Then we decided to watch some Disney+ movie since that will be gone after this week.

Chirp had a bundle sale (through December 10) on these Jodi Taylor audiobooks and they don’t seem to be at the library anymore. I already owned the first one.
Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

This time of year there are a lot of leaves and leaf blowing. Luckily, the city has been by to pick up the leaves left by the curb. Don’t know if they will come again as they usually each fall.

Here’s my take on the Bluesky explosion (my followers have tripled or more!) Since the election, lots of writers and bloggers are canceling their X accounts and going to Bluesky. I was tagged in a “book reviewer starter pack” and I’ve seen other “starter pack” posts, I think to boost your followers and who you’re following. Now I need to post more!
Thank you Tammy. Mine have tripled too. I already have auto-sharing set up for awhile and I notice people are going back and liking or reposting or whatever on older posts as well. I have to figure out posting more too. The only auto shares for it are in dlvr.it ($$$$) and Buffer. So I’ll have to see what I can do with Buffer.

I figure I have one more big leaf raking and then can leave what comes after until spring mulching with the mower. Fun that you got most of your walking in around the rain showers. Lots of reviews you got written. I still need to work on a couple before I start my next batch of reading. With series books, I like to write reviews between books so I don’t confuse what happened in each book. Enjoy your great haul.

I have done little with the leaves but they are just really starting to fall. I’m reading around the RATs for November COYER 2024 reads and then HoHoHoRAT later in the week.
Busy week! I need to make sure I am following you on Threads and Bluesky. I don’t get on them that much, I tend to mostly do Facebook, Instagram, and occasionally TikTok. Your new ARCs have beautiful covers! I have read a couple by Lisa Becker, including Starfish, but I don’t think I listened to that one, and the narrators sound like they’d be great for the story that was only so-so for me. Thanks Lisa. I actually read and reviewed Starfish awhile back and have the audio on Audible (from the author) but I like the Chirp player much more so while it was free I grabbed it. I think I’m following you on Threads but I don’t know about Bluesky.
I think that people have finally decided Twitter is irredeemable post election. I’m currently floating between both but I’d like to let go of Twitter completely. As Bluesky steadies I’m sure more tools will become available.
You can convert PDFs to epubs, though the results can be mixed, if that helps

Thank you Shelleyrae. I have been backing off Twitter for awhile. I have also been on everything else for about a year or more. yes I could convert the .pdf in Calibre but I found another option which has worked out fine.
You had a busy week. I’ve been checking out Bluesky this week and I really like it. I just found and followed you over there. PDFs can be difficult. For me, the best way to read them was on my Kindle. I tried Kobo, but that didn’t work well.

Thanks Yvonne. I followed you on Bluesky also. I have had all the socials since later in 2023 I think but they haven’t been very active. I autoshare my posts to all of them. But the one I was on most was Mastodon, then Threads and now Bluesky. I liked Bluesky the best but it didn’t have much interaction like it does now.
Our leaves have been piling up faster than we can rake them! We just fill our green bin as much as it can hold and then stop. We’ll get them all eventually. I need to check out Bluesky. I’ve been think of deleting my X account. Your garden looks great! Looks lettuce but I’m not sure what the other picture is. Is that Iris blooming? We’ve had the temps dip below 32 most nights now. It’s cold! Another reason I was happy to get all the cats captured and taken care of.
Thanks Rachel. That’s lettuce and broccoli. The broccoli isn’t ready but I’ve had it produce in January in snow. I like Bluesky best now that it is finally more active. I’ve had all the accounts for at least a year now and been able to autoshare blog posts to them.
I have a lot of different social media accounts but the only one I really use is TikTok.
My blog posts share to all of them for almost a year but I’m most active on Threads or now Bluesky as it is becoming more active.
You had a nice week. I just signed up for BlueSky. I stopped posting to X and mainly share everything to FB and Threads. I made sure to hook up my WordPress site to my socials so it shares all my posts. No need for an extra service which is nice.
I love your book haul this week. Hope you enjoy them. Reading is still slow, but I did pick up a book at the library and am slowly reading a little. I finally finished my paint by number this last week that I started 6mo ago. And, I’m we working the Library Love posts for next year now that we talked. I also started to use my Amazon Storefront more to share books.
Thanks Angela. I’m glad to see you on Bluesky. Now with more people there I think that is where I will be most active. I’m also very glad to be getting the Library Love stuff set up. Today I have to get in the yard a bit but I will be getting posts set up shortly.

I gave up on Twitter a year ago or so. I like threads, but I haven’t looked at bluesky yet. I might try it. I hope you find healthcare for your daughter!
Thank you Samantha. I autoshare my blog posts to everywhere but I’m not active on Twitter and not as much as before on Mastodon. I was scrolling Threads some. I like Bluesky the best and am glad to see it with more users and activity finally. I have been on all of them for at least a year now. I have more work on the healthcare front today.
What a busy week! Yes, the Hoopla offerings are different per library. My library had to make some changes on Hoopla because in less than ten years the fee’s per year that the library has to pay went from $10K a year to over $100k a year. Luckily, they aren’t taking books out, they just no longer allow people from outside of our library district to use our Hoopla anymore.
The cover of A Proposal to Die for is intriguing. It looks like there may be some baking in the story.

I signed up for a Bluesky account and followed you on there. I still have my Twitter account but it seems a lot of people are making the move. I’ve been getting to bed around the same time because my dog wakes me up at 4am most mornings. lol

Yes, BlueSky is getting huge. After the election and actions from certain billionaires, people are finally realizing it’s a much “safer” alternative. I don’t have autoshare set up – I don’t even know how I could do that. But I try to share from my site each day, using the share buttons at the bottom of my posts. The downside is, the share doesn’t include an image. Have you figured out a better way?
So I just checked and Jetpack has added Bluesky in their share options. I know the number of shares is limited and I already use it for Facebook, but I’m going to see how it works tomorrow and if I like it.
yes I’m excited about those 2 ARCs. I might get audio versions, for sure for the India Holton one.
I’m glad Bluesky is getting more users and activity because I’ve always like it best. I HAVE just figured out an easier way to post to it. There is a free crossposter called Sociabli. I wrote a whole thing on it for my next Sunday post. I just found it this morning. Easy to set up and working. It shares an image if the image was on the Mastodon post I think.
Nice pics. It sounds like a busy week. We haven’t had rain in a while and there’s been a smoky smell from the wildfires so I haven’t been able to walk Otis as much.

I finally decided to quit engaging on Twitter. The election was the last insult. Friends encouraged me to set up BlueSky and I’m loving it. I posted a link to the NYT article about the exodus from X and the explosion of influx to BlueSky. Weirdly enough, the developer for Twitter is the main architect for BlueSky. You can tell.

Love the doggy pictures! I’ve been trying to go to bed earlier lately too. I’ve found the days are much better if I’m not staying up too late. My library’s Hoopla offerings just changed a lot. They sent an email out in advance saying they were switching to a different package that was almost $30k cheaper. Unfortunately, the change got rid of about 2/3 of the books on my favorites list. From that I’m taking that Hoopla offers different packages to libraries for the number of borrows and number of titles available. Have a great week!

Glad I finally got signed up for Bluesky. Your guest is too cute and hope they are getting along with Lulu. I remember reading a Jodi Taylor book once but it’s been ages. I had to rake leaves yesterday. They were getting thick and flaring up the pups allergies. We’ve had some rain and are expecting our first snow Thursday. It is way too soon!
Snow? Not yet! We are cooling down and may have our first freeze Th or Sat night. I’ll have to cover the lettuce. We have the best guests. Lulu likes to play with Marley and they do get along, just Lulu sometimes needs some space. She is used to being only dog so she doesn’t always want us to pet other dogs.
You always seem to stay busy. I hate the time change since it has made walking the dogs harder for us. It is dark by the time I get home from work so we are often seen in the neighborhood with flashlights. I need to look into Bluesky but I just don’t have the energy. Have a great week!
Thank you Carole. I’m not a fan of the DST time changes either. I’d rather have it dark in the morning. And yes we having to walk earlier and earlier to avoid dark. I am often out grilling dinner in the dark too.
Oh I’d love to have you on Bluesky and change your share buttons to include the newer ones like Threads, Bluesky and Mastodon. I get not having he energy for it. The actual task is easy but it’s a struggle to get into it, in case it doesn’t go easily.
