This is a new feature I developed where each month we will look at our favorite – the best – series in a genre or topic.
I’m doing something different this year. I’m going to highlight series by favorite authors. I chose the authors based on being some of my favorite authors and having multiple series. Some authors I love only have one series or one series with a bunch of spin-offs.
In honor of Valentine’s Day, I’m sharing one of my favorite romance authors. Her works are contemporary romance or what I call Life Fiction. These series are not generally connected, although they are mostly set in California or Nevada.
Here are the Jill Shalvis series:
Lucky Harbor Animal Magnestism Wilder
Heartbreaker Bay Wildstone Sunrise Cove

Love Shalvis💜 I’m up to date in most of her series except Sunrise Cove.
She’s a huge favorite of mine, who I always read.
Jill Shalvis is an author I suspect I’d love, but I just haven’t gotten past a couple Lucky Harbor books. I really struggle to read straight up Contemporary Romance. I’ve got the Wildstone series so I’ll get there eventually.
Well I read the earlier stuff when I was reading Contemporary Romance more and her later stuff is all really Life Fiction more complex and more realistic than some Contemporary Romance.
I just recommended Shalvis to someone. I loved the Animal Magnetism and Heartbreaker Bay series. But I haven’t kept up with her newer stuff. I always love the friend groups and found families she creates.
I have kept up. Her newer book are more life fiction than contemporary romance. They have characters broadened by more development than the just the romance plot. The later series also tend to be very standalone and the books in the series are less connected.
I’ve read and enjoyed this author, need to read more!
She’s a huge favorite of mine.
New to me! I’m a sucker for puppers so I’m curious 😉
She always has animals in her stories. Dogs, cats, horses, goats They are real characters usually too.
