The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.
Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar. One Fell Sweep giveaway ends tonight!!
Sunday, I was happy the power came back on during the night. I’m doing many usual Sunday visiting and chores. I wasn’t very fast about it though. I’m running around resetting clocks and turning back on the air cleaners and such. We had a nice chat for One Fell Sweep with another new participant which I always enjoy. We walked Lulu. I stayed up too late even though I went to “bed” early.
Monday, a day at home to do things. I planned to get out early and do yardwork but was tired. I wrote some reviews, did the usual visiting. I did a lot of financial planning and tax planning in preparation for solar. I got a call to schedule PT for me. We started listening to Rogue Protocol. Then we took Lulu for a very quick walk and it started raining but not too hard. We continued listening over dinner.
Tuesday, it was get up and go to an early PT appt for my daughter. She thought the appt went well and the PT gave her the name of the EDS doctor she has worked with. Then we stopped at Trader Joes, Dollar Tree, Aldi, a second Trader Joes location, Walmart, UPS and Harris Teeter. They are totally out of the Passion Fruit sorbet at Trader Joes that my daughter likes. At least we were still home by 2. I’m doing my usual visiting but I need another hand to keep my head from drooping I’m so tired. I talked to my brother a bit about the solar proposal.
Wednesday, I started by putting weed killer in the driveway crack weeds. I used the blower in the garage to remove bugs, leaves and debris. Then I pulled weeds, ran the trimmer and edger. I took my daughter to her PT (TMJ) appt and went back to Dollar Tree to exchange the totes I bought for ones of a different size.
Thursday, I woke up early, so I had lots of time in the morning to accomplish things. I signed the solar proposal. I wrote a couple of reviews and setup some new posts. I had a package being delivered. FedEx left a doortag but didn’t knock or ring the doorbell. I was pissed and called them; they will deliver tomorrow. Luckily we will be home. The cleaning ladies came to do my daughter’s bathroom. We walked at 6 and it was hot but lower humidity. The next 5 days or so will almost always be 100F / 38C and high humidity.
Friday, I let Lulu out and checked the garden. The zucchini is up. We are also eating swiss chard, carrots, peppers and herbs. The green beans and tomatoes are still in process. I picked a green pepper. I wrote a review and did some visiting. The Fed Ex guy came and I did the signature and got it in the garage. Yay! It’s an electric bike. My brother writes reviews of electric products for Clean Technica so he gets them for free to review. I’m excited to try it and man, they are expensive! At least, this one is about $2,000. But it will be too hot the next couple days. I updated the links for my Library and COYER challenges.
Saturday, Lulu woke me but I hadn’t set the alarm. I got laundry and the dishwasher going. Then I did my usual emails and blog visiting. I ended up listening to an audiobook and knitting. It’s just too hot.
Today, Sunday, is my Mom’s 98th birthday.

I bought this Audible Daily deal for $3.99

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle, Audible and Chirp freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

Chirp Friday freebies:

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

Sweet Lulu💜
You’ve some nice additions to your shelf, Anne. I really want We are All Guilty Here. Hope you also enjoy the Marrs book.
Have a great week!
Thanks Jonetta. I finished We Are All Guilty Here yesterday. I really enjoy Karin Slaughter. It’s a new series and I’m curious to see what happens next.
Im curious to see what you think of the electric bike! They are very popular up here in the mountains for riding up the steep hills. Lulu looks so cozy😁 Have a good week!
Thank you Tammy. I’ll probably include a link to the article when it’s finished, maybe a month from now?
Ooo that is so exciting about the bike!!! I can’t wait to see what you think. I would love one but they are not in my budget! Maybe one day they will be more popular and more affordable. Lol.
Thanks Erin. I found ones on Amazon that are in the $500-700 range so they aren’t all expensive. I was thinking about a folding one for if we try an RV vacation. But I’ll try to include a link to the article when it’s published in a couple months.
My husband has an electric bike and he is very happy with it! I hope you will love yours too.
Thanks Sophie. I am more used to a pedal bike or the Harley so we will see.
Busy week! And it is definitely too hot to do much. What kind of weed killer do you use on the plants in the cracks in your driveway? I hate to do weed killer because of the bunnies and other wildlife around my house that I don’t want to hurt. I want to try the vinegar and dish soap weed killer I’ve read about online to see if that will work. I hope you have a good week!
oh I use the bad stuff for the cracks in the driveway. In the gardens, I pull the weeds by hand and then use Preen. For the grass, Scott’s Turfbuilder which you keep pets away for 24 hours. For organic, insect control in the gardens bt or neem oil. It’s safe for humans or pets just not insects.
Happy birthday to your mom! 98 is a wonderful accomplishment! Good luck with the solar stuff-I am curious to hear how it all goes. I would love to do it, but the initial cost is way out of my ability!
Thanks Samantha. I sometimes said she will outlive me. The solar is a much better deal than it was a couple years ago because there are rebates in addition to tax credits. Otherwise it would be spendy for me too. Plus my brother knows a lot about it and found the right people for me.
Yeah, the heat and humidity have been killer the last few days and I have kept inside for chores as much as possible. Was happy to get my annual steamcleaning of the carpets and cloth furnishings done this week. Your electric bike sounds exciting and way to go researching and signing up for solar.
Have a good week, Anne!
Thanks Sophia. I’ll be staying in a lot for this week. My brother gets the credit for doing the initial research on solar but at least I got to learn about it.
Glad to hear you got your power back, that sounds annoying to not have power. I hope your solar proposal goes well. That’s some warm weather with high humidity you’re having. That sounds fun your brother gets to try those products and got an electric bike now, they sure are pricey.
yes I am looking forward to after solar install my battery backup will support 5-7 days of power so I won’t be without power. yes my brother gets to try a bunch of them so he and his kids all got electric bikes and now I get one. It’s disgustingly hot. We won’t be outside a lot the next few days.
I didn’t realize you would have so many days of power with a battery, that sounds nice so you won’t be without power unless the outage lasts a long time. That’s neat your brother and kids have electric bikes and now you have one too. Hopefully it cools down soon.
Yay for getting an electric bike! My daughter and family each have one and they’re so much fun. Our grandson rides all over the golf community where there house is in Montana! He rides to the lodge and orders lunch, goes putting and even went to the pro shop and put a pair of $200 golf shoes on their account, lol! He’s 10!
Wow it’s hot there! We have been having a mild summer so far. It heats up to high 80s next week and then in the 90s for what I can see in August. My zucchini is coming up as well. I pulled all my carrots. They started flowering. I need to plant some new rows for late fall.
I’m bummed I missed out on the chat! It was one of my favorite books of the series. I will make it to the next one, especially since I’m writing the review!
Thanks Rachel. Lots of kids in our golf course neighborhood ride around in golf carts. It is hot. I wonder if I should plant carrots or beets now for fall. Maybe. Excited to have you on the Read-along with us.
I think so. I got a couple of emails from seed catalogs about planting now for a fall harvest: carrot, parsnip, celery, spinach, beets, broccoli, cauliflower and also garlic for a spring harvest. I need to get on it, haha!
It’s so hot here in August they usually don’t have plants until September. So I think I have a month before planting cool crops but since carrots and beets are underground maybe they can be planted earlier.
You had a busy week. Glad the power wasn’t out too long. LOL, on the freebies. We can’t help ourselves!
I can’t seem to get a slow week. Well if I live as long as my Mom I have a lot of years left to read those freebies and I am reading some every month. It gives me options at least.
Happy Birthday to your Mom! That’s amazing. You’ve had another busy week Anne. Take care and enjoy all your new additions.
Thank you Jodie. And last week was a relatively quiet one. This week has medical appts every day and our neighbor’s dog Marley joining us later in the week. But Marley is easy.
OH, an e-bike. Very exciting. They are a little bit controversial around here because kids are riding them and not following the laws.
I’ve had UPS and FedEx drive by and then I’ll get a notice “unable to deliver due to…” and I’ll have been sitting in my kitchen, watching them drive by. I was told by my friend at the USPS that usually means the package was not put in the vehicle, so they can’t deliver; however, there isn’t a “not on truck” option for why they didn’t deliver it.
Well an ebike is interesting but also not much good for increased exercise. I wanted it for if we travel in an RV vacation.
All of your books look so good. Enjoy them. Have a great week!
Thank you Yvonne. I’ve already read one and half of another and they are great.
My sister had an electric bike and got on with it really well. Though I’m guessing putting it through its paces in the kind of heat you’re enduring won’t be fun. I’m so impressed with all the home-grown vegetables you’re eating! I hope the coming week is a good one, Anne:).
Thanks Sarah. Me too. It is supposed to cool down later in the week at least but we have medical appts every day, so it will be a busy one.
I desperately need to go to Trader Joe’s. I’m starting to run low on a few mandatory things. Hopefully your daughter will be able to get into see the EDS doctor soon. Happy birthday to your mom! Have a great week!
Thank you Katherine. One thing about the medical appts is it puts us close to different shopping. And it seems like we have to go to 5 or more stores for the things we need with the item only available at one place. But all the basic stuff we get at Aldi.
So many people around here have electric bikes and scooters. I have to be careful when walking Falcor now that we don’t get run over because they fly by us on the sidewalk.
I don’t know how I will use it. I thought of it mostly for on vacation but that only works if it’s a folding one. But this gives me a free way to try it out.
Good work on the financial planning etc! Always scary.
Hope you enjoy the new books! And the ebike — I love mine, it has different levels of assist so I get a bit more of a workout when I’m feeling strong and fresh, and then for the ride home I turn up the assist. 😁 But in the UK they’re always heavily speed limited; I think that’s not always the case elsewhere…
Thanks Nicky. Luckily I grew up with a father retiring so everything financial has always been natural to me. I don’t know anything about electric bikes but I’m going to learn soon enough.
Ugh, I hate when the delivery services don’t actually deliver your packages and say that they tried. I was home all day waiting for you!! I have no idea what an electric bike is but it sounds interesting, I’m for sure googling it right after this!
Also, Happy Birthday to your mom!! 98 years is amazing!!
Thank you. I was glad it came last Friday because this week is a more messy schedule. I don’t know anything about ebikes either but I’ll learn something soon.
We added solar to our house when we lived in NC (Leicester near Asheville). It was a big help to the electric bill. I hope the PT’s recommendation for an EDs doctor proves to be a good lead.
Thank you Olivia. How did it go when you sold the house? I mean some worry about the solar being paid off by then.
We were fortunate enough to have inherited money to pay for the solar outright. We haven’t yet sold our house. It is on the market, but the Felon-in-Chief is making everyone nervous, and there are very few people looking according to my realtor.
It’s been too dang hot. Luckily it broke last night so we should at least get a day break.
yes it looks like the temperature will drop but the humidity will be really high yet. I’ve lived here 10 years and this is not typical.
