The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.
Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar. Sweep of the Blade giveaway ends tonight!
Sunday, the blog is working after the couple of hours of weird yesterday. I tried to do some quick work on the ebike this morning without success. Now I’m visiting Sunday posts, planning to look at more giveaway tools or write some reviews if I get a chance before or after the Read-along chat. Well the chat was great! I didn’t look at giveaway tools or write reviews at all. I started to write one but my brother called and we spent an hour on Facetime going through my questions on the ebike so I know what things to do next. He’s put together a few. I also set the battery to charge. We walked Lulu.
Monday, I’m glad for a day at home and need to make focused use of my time. I got some reviews written and posts set up. After my daughter’s appt, we went out to put the front wheel on the ebike and with minor fiddling were able to do it. So it’s all put together, now I need to read the guide for riding and the display. After an early dinner, we went to an early meeting to meet Democratic candidates and talk about canvassing. Since we saw a dog there last time, we took Lulu with us. She was excited but friendly with 2 other dogs. One of them is also from our neighborhood and was there last time.
Tuesday, I wrote another review, handled emails, visited blogs, started the dishwasher and a load of laundry. After lunch I had PT, then picked up a few things at Aldi. We walked Lulu.
Wednesday, they are here bright and early to install the new HVAC. It’s not too hot, at least yet, so it’s good for them. I ended up scheduling an appt for myself today to talk to my doctor about my blood pressure. It may be too low when it is really hot or I exercise more than usual. We talked about strategies which seem to be also related to heat exhaustion. Then I stopped at Aldi (different location) since I wasn’t able to get cottage cheese or chicken thighs yesterday. Still no cottage cheese, but I got the chicken thighs, plus they had their gluten free cheese and spinach ravioli on clearance so I got several packages. Then I went to Trader Joes for the cottage cheese and got a few other things I remembered from my TJ list. They are still working on the HVAC. My daughter and I ate lunch and watched tv. I came upstairs to do this stuff and it’s hot. I started chicken thighs in the oven to make a batch of Lulu food. I’m going to keep it short and go back downstairs. They finished up the HVAC and it’s cooling the upstairs. They told me the inspector would come in the next couple days. We walked Lulu while the thighs cooled enough for me to break them into bite sized pieces to make her food.
Thursday, I woke up a couple hours before the alarm so hopefully I can get more done today. The inspector came to check the new HVAC. It’s all fine and I did the registration for warranty. I worked just a bit on the menu plan and filled out all the paperwork for an appt my daughter has next week which we have waited 18 months to get in. I created a test version of a giveaway with Giveaway Tools and it was easy to create. It’s free. I emailed to find out if they have a way to import from Rafflecopter or CSV files. I made pesto for dinner and also made basil aoili for sandwiches while I was chopping up basil.
Friday, I went out and tried to mow the lawn and pull some weeds I did about 2/3 of the front yard but the humidity is killing me this week. It wasn’t that hot but I apparently just don’t do well when the humidity is high even if it feels nice. I got things together to make another batch of Lulu food and made some cookies using the lemon verbena I grew for that purpose. I was just looking around at my entries in my test giveaway (Giveaway Tools) and saw where I can add entries and then got to the next screen where I can import a CSV file!!!! So I will play with that next. I only need to do the grand prize giveaway from Rafflecopter.
Saturday, I tried to get what I could done before I went with my daughter to Lazy Days in Cary. She just finished a college session. She loves art festivals and her friends have told her about this one. We went to a shopping area to catch the shuttle about 11am. We didn’t fit on the first one but were the very first on the next bus. We did a lot of walking and saw lots of great things. My daughter got a new hat (not the one in the photo) which she had been wanting one, 2 pairs of earrings and a tie-dye bandana. I got a festival t-shirt and some quilting ideas. We ate gluten free arepas and empanadas. We went to Lowes since I had a $10 off $50 on the way home. I got the signatures of both neighbors for the HOA request for the solar project and then we walked Lulu. I’ll talk next week more about what I learned about converting Rafflecopter to Giveaway Tools. I hope to have time to test it this week. We will also have Abbey with us after Tuesday.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):
My grateful thanks to Harper / Harlequin Audio, Stephanie Burgis (2), Level Best Books, Thomas & Mercer, Tor, Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing,

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)
NONE

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

Chirp Friday Freebies:

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

The festival sounds like fun. I’m curious about the lemon verbena cookies! Good luck with the humidity. We don’t normally have to worry about that in California, but we had a thunderstorm yesterday and afterwards it was hot and muggy. Have a good week, Anne!
Thank you Tammy. It was fun to get out and do something. I used to grow lemon verbena in Minnesota which is weird as it is more common further south of NC. At least it is only a perennial in places that don’t freeze.
Seems like a good week. Hope this one is as well!
Thank you for visiting Bree. It was a good week but overwhelming to me in the things I didn’t manage to get finished.
I do love cottage cheese too Anne and I can’t find any either at the moment! One continent away and still the same battle. So weird!
That is really odd Sophie. I did finally find some cottage cheese
I’m not surprised you find the humidity so trying – we don’t get much of it here, but when we do it simply wipes me out. It’s something to do with not being able to cool down because the sweat can’t dry, apparently… I love your books this week – what a treat with two Stephanie Burgis novellas AND a new Ilona Andrews books!! I’m riddled with envy! Have a lovely week, Anne:)).
Thank you Sarah. You keyed in on some key points for me this week. I’m not doing well with that humidity and it’s not so normal here either. I was so honored that Stephanie Burgis emailed me and asked me to review those 2 novellas. I juggled my whole schedule to fit them in. Also it is a sad day when I get an Ilona Andrews books and can’t sit down and devour it in one sitting but I am too far behind at the moment.
Sounds like a good week, and a productive one as well! I’m glad you and your daughter had fun at the art fair. And I see you picked up a Celia Lake book this week! I like that one, although it’s not one of my favorites. The main characters are the parents of the hero in one of my favorites, though.
I’m interested to find out about Giveaway Tools, in case I decide to host The Backlist Reader Challenge again. (I took this year off.)
Thanks Kara. It was frustrating because I wanted to do more this week. I will definitely posts my findings in a week or so. I’ll be testing the transfer of data from rafflecopter to Giveaway Tools and / or Gleam because I do have my year long grand prize one which will end after Rafflecopter closes.
I can’t wait to read Fake Skating! I see you got the Helena Hunting freebie. I love her books! Sounds like a busy week, and and not having air conditioning was probably not fun, so glad that is fixed. Hope you have a good week!
Thanks Lisa. The new HVAC system install was very smooth. Yay. The old one was 25 years old and I didn’t want to wait until it died. You know I love Lynn Painter.
Glad to hear you got the ebike together! The festival sounds fun! Its suppose to be very cool here next week and I am excited. Lows in the low 50’s and highs in the 70’s! Hope you get your low blood pressure figured out. My dad had to get a pacemaker for that reason!
Thanks Samantha. I am all about the cooler weather. The heat and humidity are what’s affecting me. I take meds to lower my blood pressure so we may have to adjust them if this becomes a thing.
I’m ready to get this heat out of here too haha. It’s been absolutely unbearable in Texas!
I hear you Ethan. I won’t choose Texas or Florida or most of Arizona, etc because too hot for me. North Carolina does have a couple months which are hot but the rest of the year is gorgeous and we have four seasons. Most of the year is spring or fall which are the nicest temperatures.
It was a fun time on the chat! It’s been hot here, too and I don’t do well with humidity either and I’m off to Austin, TX on Thursday! I’m sure we’ll be indoors most of the time. We’ve had a relatively mild summer so this last week getting a day over 100 was a shock. I’m not a fan of the heat.
I’m eager to hear what you learn about Giveaway Tools and whether it’ll work for Blogger. I tried looking up their site and can’t find them. Just a lot about sites like Gleam, Woorise and SleepWidget. I have no idea!
I have Don’t Say a Word, but the e-copy. I think they’ll have the audio up on Netgalley soon where I can download *fingers crossed*. I requested the new Ilona Andrews. We’ll see.
Thank you Rachel. We are having very low humidity and dew points as well as temperatures around 75-80 so this week is amazing. Giveaway tools should work for you because it is like Rafflecopter where you insert an html code. Actually Gleam is that way also but I think the setup is more complicated. I hope to test an import from Rafflecopter but had another distraction yesterday and today.
You were busy last week. I hope you have a great week!
Thank you Yvonne. It seems like they are all busy weeks.
Our heat and high humidity finally broke just last night and I had a gorgeous day with the windows open to air the place out. You got quite a bit done this week and I’m glad you had some stay at home days, too. The Cary art festival sounded fun.
Have a good week, Anne!
Thank you Sophia. I didn’t feel like I got enough done. But I finished more yesterday and some today so feeling more on top of things. Our humidity is supposed to break tomorrow.
Sounds like a great week overall. Heat does me in, humidity does me in. I’d like to blame it on age, but although I could tolerate it a bit better in my youth, I’ve never done well with either of these. I hope your daughter’s appointment with the specialist goes well. Lulu is so cute. It’s nice that she’s sociable. My chiweenie is not. Maybe at 7 pounds he just always feels intimidated.
Thanks Olivia. I’ve never been a fan of the heat. Lulu is sociable, at least she doesn’t hardly ever bark. She does seem scared of tall men and bigger dogs though.
Sweet Lulu💜
Didn’t realize that Don’t Say a Word was scheduled yet! I really want to get back to this series. Have a great week, Anne.
Thanks Jonetta. yes the Angelhart Investigations is moving right along.
Oh, I’m glad you found a solution to Rafflecopter closing! I don’t often run giveaways (and Kimberly does them for the audiobook challenge). However, I may need to eventually, so I’ll look for your write up next week.
We moved my daughter back into her dorm on Sunday. She started classes today. I miss her already! I have to run some things to her next weekend, so at least I’ll see her and find out how the first week went.
I still have some testing to do with the import from Rafflecopter but I will post about it next week. It’s a big change for you with the empty nest.
The humidity must be tough – I am thankful we don’t have that issue here. Good luck to your daughter with her long-awaited appointment.
Thank you Jodie. The humidity and dew point have dropped a lot this week and it’s gorgeous. The appt went well and was all we had been hoping for. There are 2 additional appts for further testing to confirm things. Then a followup in 6 months.
Humidity can be the worst part of hot weather! It’s so exhausting. It cooled down a lot here, then we had just one or two warm days, and now I think it’s going to be cooler again — whew. Hope you get some cooler/more bearable weather too!
Yes! Thank you. The humidity and dewpoint dropped a lot on Tuesday and it’s amazing.
I am loving the ebike saga! I never thought I’d get so invested in a story about an ebike! 😂 The Stephanie Burgis books look interesting, I’ll have to check them out! Hope you’re having a great week!
Thank you. There will be plenty more adventures with the ebike this week ahead, and a few other things.
Love Aldi!
Our normal place to go.
