Sunday, well I got comfortable too soon. It’s been a challenging morning with Lulu hurting and Abbey barking. They 
are both being more food fussy too. I tried to visit Sunday posts, before my daughter got up. Once she did, I took Lulu to the emergency vet. She seems to be having an IVDD flareup. They prescribed similar pain relievers and muscle relaxants and crate rest to the last time (March 2023). This time though they did radiographs and blood tests so it was about $1,000. I was wiped out and slept through until morning without waking. The photos are of Lulu with lots of drugs.
Monday, it’s my normal day to change sheets and wash my hair etc. but with Abbey here, I got the sheets changed but then there was barking. I took them outside . I gave Lulu all her medicines and she ate her breakfast. I gave Abbey things sent for her and she wouldn’t touch them. We went up to the office and I made calls to the regular vet and tried to analyze which of the 2 new vets we tried I would use for the followup visit. I called both to try to determine if they had experience with IVDD. They all say they do. I also wanted to see how they handled emergency visits during the week or over the weekend. I checked on the Rx which was only a partial fill and that means a long drive north to pick it up tomorrow.
Tuesday, I took the Abbey and Lulu out, fed them and then Abbey just started barking while I was there with her. I took her outside again. Next we went to the office so I could work on tasks until my daughter woke up. Then I went on the errand run dropping off Amazon returns, a couple items at Dollar tree, then getting Lulu’s Rx and finally picking up a pizza for dinner.
Wednesday, I made breakfast casserole. It was the usual routine. My daughter got up very late and unfortunately Abbey had an accident lying on a bed. Luckily it didn’t go through to the carpet. I didn’t see it happen and we didn’t know until she got up. She did seem to be sleeping heavily this morning. I washed the dog bed. I made a dermatologist appt for my daughter. I checked with the vet to see if they got the radiographs and blood work information so we would have that for her re-check. I got a Walmart+ delivery order to try it out. I went out and emptied the hoses and covered the faucets since it will freeze later this week. Abbey started barking after midnight, really loud.
Thursday, I got up and made a sweet potato/ apple dish that my brother’s family 
likes. It just has a bit of maple syrup and butter. My daughter and I went to KC’s house for the Thanksgiving meal. It was kind of her to invite us. I liked her friends and we both fell in love with Piper. Piper is a licker like Lulu. The food was delicious. Happily, although we were there much longer than planned, Abbey and Lulu did well at home without any accidents. I think we figured out why Abbey was barking last night. The UPS battery backup in the office was squealing. It is 7 years old and the battery is likely dead. So I ordered a new unit.
Friday, the battery backup was off all night but not long after I turned it on it was squealing again. I turned it off and connected my computer through the hotspot on my phone instead (because the router is plugged into the battery backup.) Even with her medications, Lulu is very lively and not subdued like last time. It’s much harder to keep her resting. I wrote and edited some reviews. It’s cold, hit freezing last night. The lettuce and lemon verbena look surprisingly well but the basil is very dead. It will be even colder tonight. I got the new battery backup all set up and everything is working. My daughter walked Abbey and I stayed home with Lulu.
Saturday, the morning routine was smooth with the dogs doing their business and eating. The lettuce, even the covered, younger batch are frozen after last night. Then it was a bit of a wait for the neighbor to pick up Abbey, who was very happy to see her. I went down the rabbit hole deleting a bunch of older emails. Then I realized I posted my post today as Robin’s instead of mine, so I had to fix that. I placed a curbside order for Sam’s Club so I picked that up. After the pickup and lunch, I wrote a review. Then in between making Chicken Wild Rice soup, I needed to make decisions about streaming deals and my Audible membership. The temperatures this week will be seasonal with 50s / 30s F, or 10/ -1 C.
How do I do it?
So I need to do a better job of organizing my audiobooks at Audible, Chirp and Libro.fm. I’d like to be able to look at all 3 together and organize them with different criteria. Mostly I have all the info in Goodreads, but some audiobooks are before I did a better job of shelving in Goodreads.
For Audible, I found a program called OpenAudible which will create a spreadsheet showing the things I want: Title, Author, Narrators, Length, Genre, Read/Unread, Date released, Date purchased. In the free version, I can see this online and even sort by different columns but to export it I’d need to buy the software.
For Libro.fm, it’s easy they let you download a .csv file from your library, with similar information.
For Chirp, I can’t see any export options. I sent them an email to see if they had any suggestions.

I got this bundle of the Taylor Jackson series I’ve wanted to read and doesn’t seem to be at the library in audio. Each audio was $3.99 at Chirp.
I purchased these got $6.99 each in the Audible November deals. Then I spent my 4 credits so I could cancel. When I cancel, they offer me a whole bunch of deals and I got an annual plan this time with 12 credits for $89. I’ll share what I got with my credits next week.
Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.
I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.
I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

I hope Lulu is on the mend! It’s so upsetting to see your pet suffering! Looks like you had a nice Thanksgiving. I missed a turkey dinner this year. We might do one when we meet up with my daughter in Montana in December. I need to try that with Audible! I’ll spend my credits and give it a shot. I think I have 4 or 5. I buy all my credits once a year too, but I’m spending a lot more than $89!
Thanks Rachel. It was a lavish Thanksgiving. They had both regular turkey and smoked turkey and tons of sides and desserts. I was happy because my daughter had a good time playing board games with the other young adults. Audible gives a bunch of options. I think they want to keep me because I buy a lot of audiobooks. I was on a 6 month option, so they offered a 12 month and 24 month option. I rotate between those 3 plans recently. I hate keeping Lulu inactive.
Did you have to call Audible when you did this or did they make an offer by cancelling online?

You got some great chirp deals! FYI, I created my own personal Goodreads group to manage my reading schedules. One folder has the books listed by month whenever I received them with the publisher and release dates. Hope that’s helpful.
Thanks for the tip Jonetta. I’ll look at that. Lulu isn’t feeling pain but I’m afraid she misses the walks and freedom of running around. Hopefully it’s just a month like last time and she will be back in shape.

Thank you Tammy. I hate keeping Lulu inactive. She goes from 3 to 1 medicines after today and only 3 weeks of restricted activity left. We love Piper.

The program I use https://clz.com/books/web is capable of what you want. You can import cvs from Goodreads or wherever. You can add books/audio by entering the isbn to search the catalogue and automatically download the info, edit or add to it, or you can manually enter the information. You can read the manual for more information

Well Lulu is drugged up for now but hopefully that is letting her heal as the drugs reduce after today to just 1. Thanks for the tip about CLZ I’ll have to take a look at the free version. I was thinking mostly of audiobooks. I don’t know how I would get a file from Audible but I have many in Goodreads so I could do it that way maybe.
Poor Lulu! I hope she is doing better! I need to get a better idea of what books I have on various apps as well! Libro.fm, audible, chirp, plus the ALC apps. I am sure I have double purchased books. Piper is super cute! Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving.
Thanks Samantha. Lulu is drugged so she can heal without pain. After today, she is down to 1 medicine so we will see if that makes any difference. I was happy my daughter really enjoyed Thanksgiving at KC’s with Piper and board games with the other young adults. I am considering options to better organize and am enjoying people’s suggestions. The real issue is freeing up more time to read! lol

Whew, quite a week with both dogs having struggles. You got a ton accomplished even though you probably felt a bit all over the place. Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving with KC and friends. We were busy right up until Thanksgiving, but I was glad the holiday spent at my SIL’s for dinner, and day after were relaxing for us.
I don’t do much more than use my created shelf on GoodReads for the audios.

I used to keep a spreadsheet with all of my digital books/audiobooks, but I’ve since stopped. I do have a list of books and where I own them as a TBR, but it’s not complete. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed, but I just have to let it go. We had a great Thanksgiving. Both of my kids were home and we spend the day with my husband’s extended family. I also surprised my husband with his early Christmas gift, an electric fireplace. Temps are dropping this week. I need to get back into a workout routine.
Thanks Jen. Wonderful you had a nice Thanksgiving with family. yes probably anything I do, like a spreadsheet is a problem to keep updated. I’m probably better to just try to work within Goodreads since I do update it faithfully now. It doesn’t help with older ones but I can try to catch those over time by choosing one platform at a time and looking at unread titles I want to read.
I’ve never gotten my organization past a spreadsheet, and using Goodreads to keep track of what I’ve read or am reading over time… I’d rather be reading than learning any more sites/software. LOL Hope Abbey & Lulu are doing well!
Thank you Becki. I think having another software to update is going to just be more trouble than it’s worth. I have a spreadsheet I use to organize current reading (primarily to strictly plan ARCs) and I probably can use Goodreads more fully since I do update it faithfully.
I’m sorry that life seems to be so stressful for you right now. I hope Lulu is getting better and that you have a more restful week.

I’m sorry Lulu is sick. What is IVDD? It’s so hard to keep an active dog quiet. We had to do that when our chiweenie had back surgery. NOT FUN! Looks like a great book haul! I need to check out Murder in the Crypt.
Thank you Olivia. IVDD is Intervertebral Disk disease. Sort of like herniated disks. Jumping and stairs can make it worse that’s why we have a ramp for Lulu etc. We are hoping like last time rest will help her heal. It was almost 3 years since the last issue.

Yeah, when they don’t feel the pain sometimes they won’t do what they need to do to get better. I hope you’ve had a better week with her. I’ll be watching for your Sunday post to see how it went!

I’ve been terrible at organizing my books. And now the list is so long it’ll take forever to do. That is, once I figure out how I want to do it. I put my Audible acc’t on hold years ago. I don’t buy from there anymore. Their terms piss me off (plus, you know, Amazon) and I haven’t figured out how to save them in a useable format on my computer. I love Chirp, but they don’t always have what I’m looking for, but at least when I buy from them the books are actually mine. Though they add books all the time, so eventually I should find my all my faves. I keep meaning to try Libro but haven’t gotten around to it yet.
Thank you Carol. I’ve been worrying that Lulu is resting enough now that she’s on the pain meds. I’ve pretty much decided that most of what I need I’ve entered in Goodreads and I don’t want to have to enter everything all over again in another spreadsheet.
