We Solve Murders is the first in the new series and detective agency of the same name. The characters are the fun here. Amy is a former bodyguard, now part of the agency with her father-in-law and former client a famous novelist, Rosie. She has her usual intelligence in their new case but is also wondering about her traveling husband and if he remembers their anniversary upcoming.
Steve is an ex-cop, retired, and still grieving the loss of his wife. He has his comfortable friends at the bar, and his cat, Trouble. But he also cares about Amy and is great at deducing the criminals and solving investigations.
Rosie is a wild, rich woman and really she’s a hoot. Of course, she comes along to support Amy and Steve. In addition to these three points of view, we get some of the bad guys and law enforcement thoughts. Her latest book is not selling well so she is hoping the new case will help with it.
With Rosie as a distraction, Amy as protection and Steve’s keen discernment of people, they solve the murders. I guessed the actual culprit / assassin early on which is unusual. The Interpol agent, Ernesto, was obviously lying early on and so I didn’t trust him either. So all the murders in We Chase Shadows, and running around to talk to possible victims and witnesses after murders seemed like a distraction to me.
Maybe because the victims were all criminals, it didn’t have as much emotional impact for me. Or perhaps it went a little too unrealistic to me. I really enjoy Steve and Amy but am less enamored of Rosie. I’ll be interested to read their next case and see if Steve decides he can start to date now.
Narration:
Nicola Walker is quite new to me as a narrator. I have really enjoyed her performance in this series. I loved her performance for both male and females, with distinct voices for the primary characters. The accents seemed appropriate. I listened comfortably at 1.5x speed.

As the creative director of Endemol UK, Richard has worked as an executive producer on numerous shows including Deal Or No Deal and 8 Out of 10 Cats. He is also a regular on panel and game shows such as Have I Got News For You, Would I Lie To You and Taskmaster.

I read all types of books but my favorites are urban fantasy and romantic suspense.I like some romance and some action / adventure / mystery in everything.I like sex in my books but please, only between TWO people.Intimate conversation is equally important to the sex in a book.It lets me see the characters.The other thing I enjoy is humor.

I love Nicola Walker in The Unforgotten BBC series but I’ve never listened to her narrate an audio book so I’m super excited to see this. I really enjoyed the first book so I’m glad to see that you liked this one.
