The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.
Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar. Read-along giveaway ends tonight!
Sunday, lots to do and not enough time. My daughter is starting to feel better with the medication. I tried to get all the things done but didn’t. I did do some blog visiting for some Sunday posts and did some planning. I found my old spreadsheet I used to analyze investments and reworked it for current. The chat was fun and we have many friends reading with us this year. We bundled up again to walk Lulu.
Monday, I finished up Sunday post visiting and today’s posts visiting. My daughter called to get her classes for this session and next planned. I asked a few questions about some other classes. It’s warming up so we walked a bit further with Lulu today. I’m working on my investment spreadsheet. I printed some year end statements for tax purposes.
Tuesday, another day where I have much I want to do. I messaged my doc about sending RX to the preferred pharmacy of the new insurance I have for this year. We had a nice walk with Lulu and got to see Clover, one of the neighbor’s dogs. I wanted to go to sleep and get a strong start tomorrow.
Wednesday, well Lulu barked in the middle of the night. I let her out and she immediately went to potty. She came back in and went straight into her crate and threw up. She went up on the sofa. I cleaned up and went back to bed. I was so tired but still worked on tasks. I did a bit more Lulu cleanup. I vacuumed upstairs until the battery died. I replaced the petal lights in the garage which annoyingly both went out at the same time so I’ve had a dark garage for a week. I put the new stickers on the license plates of the Harley and the Volt and the registrations in their “glove box.” We walked Lulu in the pleasant weather.
Thursday, I got a full night’s sleep. Yay. I cleaned the grate and replaced the main floor furnace filter. I worked on visiting, emails, setting up posts, writing reviews, and a bunch of financial paperwork. I also got in some vacuuming. I updated half the windows in my house in 2023. Since their prices are going up, I signed up to do the other half. They won’t be installed until March. I got the 24 months 0% interest so that’s good. We walked Lulu and it was cloudy, cooler than yesterday.
Friday, I did the usual stuff. I called to cancel my daughter’s previous dental insurance even though we picked a different plan on the ACA they still billed us. I had to get paperwork and email it to them. I called about my dental work and they submitted to the wrong insurance company so I’ll be waiting even longer. (I gave them my new card when I was there!) My daughter and I walked Lulu. It’s warm but cloudy. My daughter went to sleep right after the walk. I uploaded new audios to my app. Then I printed out a new schedule spreadsheet.
Saturday, it’s warm but cloudy and going to get more windy and rainy as the day progresses. Then it the chill for next week a 10-20 degree temperature drop. I got a Walmart delivery including Rx. I’m doing it for now because they deliver but it’s impossible to talk to them on the phone. We walked Lulu and it’s pleasantly warm, and still not windy. I cleaned the grate and installed the upstairs furnace filter. I set up a bunch of new post shells. I need to do a menu plan yet for this week. I never got one together for last week. The insurance company sent the payout from Mom’s life insurance.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):
My grateful thanks to Harper Audio – Avon, Tantor Audio, Macmillan Audio, Penguin – GP Putnam’s Sons, Canelo.

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)
NONE.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

It’s hard to cut back on freebies! But I have been trying to show some restraint. Ha!
Me too Olivia. I have to think about if I would choose them over other options.
Sweet Lulu💜
You’ve a lot of projects going on, Anne! Getting those windows done sounds like a smart investment, especially with your solar panels.
Have a great week!
Thank you Jonetta. I will now be able to gradually do some maintenance I’ve put off over the last few years. My house is in a good neighborhood with many houses of higher value. It was built with very standard things such as cabinets or windows which after 25 years I am replacing some with higher quality as they need replacement.
It seems like January is always such a busy time. Good luck with all your chores, and wow, that’s a big temperature drop!
Thanks Tammy. I’m back in a sweatshirt and wool socks.
Poor Lulu, hope she’s feeling better now. You had a lot going on this week! You reminded me I need to get into the dentist as well. I always think about needing to call and set an appointment when I’m somewhere I can’t, and then when I am home and able to, I’m not even thinking about it. I’m really enjoying the chats and I finished and LOVED the next book, so I can’t wait to talk about it. I hope everyone has a good week.
Thank you Lisa. It doesn’t help that some doctors have odd hours like closing at 4 or 4:30 instead of 5 or not open 12-1:30 or Friday afternoons, etc. I mean they have the right to set their hours, that’s fine. I’m just saying it’s harder for me to remember. My dentist sets my next cleaning appt at my current appt. So thrilled you are loving the Read-along books. It is meant to be fun.
I hope Lulu is feeling better Anne! Waking up at night to clean is never easy.
Thank you Sophie. Lulu is better. I think I just tried too many new foods but she has never had issues before.
Aw I hope Lulu is feeling better. That’s a good idea to upgrade the windows. Hope you have a good week ahead.
Thank you Naida. Lulu is doing well. I’m trying to plan out regular maintenance type issues. The house needs to be painted sooner than later, or install siding or something.
Glad your daughter is feeling better. I hope Lulu is okay! I hate pharmacies now. You can’t talk to anyone-even if you call, they have you leave a message and say they will contact you. Spoiler alert-they don’t. The only pharmacy I can use with my insurance is CVS so I cant even try out other places!
Have a great week!
Thanks Samantha. Lulu is doing okay. I usually get RX at the grocery store and can actually talk to someone there. I have to decide if the cost savings are worth it. Mostly I don’t have many RX and they have been the same more than 20 years.
Pleased to hear your daughter is feeling better. And the business with your dentist sounds a real pain. We are also at the stage where loads of things need updating and replacing in the house. While I was ill for so many years, a lot of it went on hold and now we have the grandchildren living with us, we need a new bathroom – two bathrooms! But it is daunting. Best of luck with the replacement windows:).
Thank you Sarah. yes home maintenance is daunting. I can only stand so much at a time. One can never have too many bathrooms but the cleaning of them is the time eater.
You should like a busy but organized woman Anne. I try to be as well. Have a good week!
Thank you Jodie. Some days I just want to pull the covers over my head and drop out for awhile. I am so embarrassed by our federal government and horrified.
Phew busy week!!! I hope your daughter is feeling better, and Lulu too!
Thank you Erin. We all are better but just tired.
I hope Lulu is feeling better and I hope the dental stuff is sorted out. Mouse was told this past week at her orthodontist appointment that she will likely be getting her braces off in another month or two. She’s super excited about that prospect. It’ll be six months earlier than we’d initially been told. We have one more week of reprieve before band and musical rehearsals start up again. It’s going to be a busy semester for Mouse–and for me as her chauffer.
I’m still dealing with my mom’s estate. I’ve run into a couple snags that I am trying to untangle. Just when I think it’s all sorted, something else comes up. I will be so glad when this part of it is behind me.
I hope you have a good week. Happy reading.
Thank you Wendy. Lulu is better and I finally made an appt for the dental. My getting off the braces hurt a lot but it didn’t bother my daughter at all, so I hope her experience is good.
New windows are a nice upgrade that really makes an impact. I hope to join in on the next chat, but we’ll see as we’ll be driving home from Southern California that day. I’m sure I could join on my phone or computer in the car. I need to listen to the books! We’ve had some cold weather but we’re getting a nice warm up with highs in the 60s. Sounds like you’ve had the opposite. Silver & Blood looks interesting. I’ve enjoyed that author in the past. I’ll look it up.
I hope you can join a chat. I’ve missed you. The books at least are short. I find the Discord chat to be really easy too.
Ah, I really want to read the new Olivia Waite! Your post reminds me to keep an eye out for it, hehe. Hope you enjoy the new books.
I’m very excited to read that next Olivia Waite book.
Sounds like you had a busy week. I hope Lulu is feeling better. Enjoy your books and have a great week!
Thank you Yvonne. Lulu is better.
The whole connection between your medical insurance and using a pharmacy is bizarre to me. I can just take a script to any pharmacy to be filled and it will cost the same in all of them.
Poor Lulu, and poor you cleaning up after her at midnight.
I’m really curious about Olivia Waite’s cozy scifi series so I look forward to your review.
Wishing you a happy reading week
yes our healthcare is stupid and complicated. Lulu is feeling better. I reviewed the first Olivia Waite book Murder by Memory last year and am looking forward now to Nobody’s Baby.
Good luck with all your projects! You have a lot going on. 🙂
Well I wouldn’t want to be bored or just relax, you know? yes I would for at least a little bit. But it would just mean I want to do more crafting projects or read more books.
Poor Lulu. I hate that throw up moment right after they go in their crate. I really want to read CJ Box. I’m not sure I’ll get to his books this year but fingers crossed. Have a great week and happy reading!
Thank you Katherine. Lulu seems better but I think less changing of her food is going to help. She was fine with changes in the past but not so much right now. I loved the Joe Pickett series but it took me almost 2 years to read them all up to current.
I just started Silver and Blood (ebook) last night. My weekend was good. I got to rest on Saturday but also did some chores. On Sunday, I went to see Sound of Music in Boston. The musical was delightful and the main cast had beautiful voices. This coming week is the last my daughter will be home, so we are watching some shows and movies.
Silver & Blood is coming up soon for me on audio. I’m listening to Twelve Months right now first. There are a LOT of Jan 27 books! I’m trying to get a bit ahead these days.
The weather’s been crazy, right? Now it’s going to drop back down. Ugh. You’re starting some maintenance and I’m still cleaning up after mine. Will we ever get to relax? lol Our healthcare system is ridiculous. And exhausting.
yes only in the 30s tomorrow. Brrrr. yes I have in mind to finish the windows I did half in 2023. And the house needs painting or siding. Otherwise I think it’s good for awhile. Well some windows will need new coverings. And a couple of floors need new and I’ll probably go with LVF instead of the linoleum they have now. Thankfully it’s not a rush though. I’m not holding out much hope for an improved healthcare system until we get another President with Congress like FDR or someone with guts to fight it out.
Poor Lulu!!!
Don’t worry! Lulu gets plenty of love and care.
I saw Ilona Andrews mention Silver & Blood. I believe they were doing an interview soon? I might be misremembering. I hope you had a great week!
yes they are doing an event which might be changed due to the current weather issues.
