The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.
Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar. The Read-along chat is on Discord today.
Sunday, I really hate the new iphone update. It’s so much harder to press buttons or highlight things for cut / paste. We have a light sprinkle of snow but underneath is freezing rain so when I tried to sweep the stairs to the backyard it was hard ice. Last night since my daughter had finished her homework for the week I got her to go through one dresser drawer with me. She found things that fit and that didn’t and a shirt she had been looking for. There are 8 drawers in her 2 dressers so more to come hopefully. Lulu does not want to go outside at all. Lulu was so afraid she wouldn’t go in the crate and slept with my daughter.
Monday, the freezing rain has stopped and I was able to clear the top 2 of 4 steps to the backyard. I’m not moving quickly today. I set up some posts and wrote a review. I figured out which books I wanted for the Amazon First Reads.
Tuesday, I spent some time listening to my audiobook and setting up posts. The wind turned to be from the south, so we bundled up and walked Lulu. The front steps are hard ice. Since it won’t get warmer, I’ll have to use some chemical stuff on it. The back steps are on the south side so brushing them off with a broom has finally cleared them. My daughter started to remove ornaments from the Christmas tree.
Wednesday, it’s a north wind this morning but the wind will switch back to south again this afternoon. I wrote a review. I worked on setup for the next few Read-along posts. I put ice melt stuff on the steps, since it is the north side and it’s staying cold – it wasn’t melting. The stuff is working and I went out and chipped and shoveled some of the ice away. For the walk, we went out the garage side door in the grass to miss all the slippery ice. We walked with the neighbor. Then I finally got to answering some comments.
Thursday, I woke early. Before breakfast, I put ice melt on the front stairs again. I finally worked on menu planning which I’ve been ignoring. I called the dentist to get the proposal for my treatment they promised me on Tuesday. I took my daughter to her eye doctor appt and then to pickup some things at Aldi. We walked Lulu and ran into the neighbor and Abbey. Next we ordered my daughter’s new glasses and sunglasses, and a new pair of boots. We also are considering trying Cook Unity. It isn’t easy enough to see the gluten free items and there are a lot of spicy dishes we wouldn’t choose.
Friday, I took too long to get going. I got the new proposal from the dentist and called and asked more questions. I did the blog visiting, some post setups. We walked Lulu and I scraped more ice off the front walk. My daughter has reached her goal weight, a bit below, has had a loss of 71 pounds. I tried to put in a new water filter in the fridge. It didn’t work right. I looked up on Amazon and I got it the exact same as last time. It turns out this one is an inch shorter than the old one. I vacuumed a bit after dinner.
Saturday, the snow hasn’t started by noon. My brother texted with more questions. I took out the Christmas tree and cleaned up. I did some more general cleaning. I tried to organize the papers on my desk a bit more. I called about the problem with the water filter. Amazon allowed me to return it but now I don’t know what to order since that was the right item for the last 6 years! My daughter walked Lulu because I was in the middle of unloading the dishwasher, making soup, and then my brother called.
January Reading:
I managed to read 13 books. It was a rough month. Audiobooks continue to help me read more. Some count for more than one challenge.
- 11 Audiobooks
- 2 Library books
- 13 COYER
- 1 Books I Own
All Library books (including ones not reviewed on the blog) 2026 Library Love Challenge
I only managed to read one book I own (goal is 3 per month):
- 🎧Stolen Ones by Angela Marsons

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):
My grateful thanks to St. Martin’s Press, Ace Books, Elizabeth Hunter, Penguin Audio,

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)
I picked my two books for First Reads. And I had to have the latest Ilona Andrews.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

Chirp Friday Freebies:

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

I was productive on my blog last month but not my real life. Its tough right now to focus and feel upbeat, so I understand. Ice is the worst! Be careful😁
Thanks Tammy. This time it was light, fluffy snow which sweeps away easily with a broom so not ice.
Sweet Lulu💜
We got almost a foot of snow! It will hang around for awhile since it’s so cold. I got that Chirp deal, too for the Karen Grey book. Holding out for the audio version of Final Target. Doing lots of reading today as I did yesterday.
Stay warm and pray for Minnesota strong!
Thank you Jonetta. We only got maybe an inch. It’s light and fluffy so I could sweep it away with a broom. Of course, it could also blow around back and it’s a bit windy today. Lulu is not a fan. I’m so frustrated with the federal govt my reading has suffered this past month.
Shrinkflation affects everything! I hope you find a suitable filter.
Congrats to your daughter on achieving her goal.
Paranormal Payback looks like a great anthology.
Wishing you a wonderful reading week
Thanks Shelleyrae! I ordered 3 kinds hopefully one will work. Paranormal Payback has stories by several of my favorite authors.
Last year I used up all my pet safe ice melt so I bought some at the first sign of a winter storm this year and have yet to need it. Crazy. Poor Lulu. Was she scared of the storm sounds or the ice outside? Sorry it wasn’t as productive for you this past month. I had a mostly good month, lots of time for commenting with some cold days keeping everyone in my family in so I got to stay home like I used to do all the time. Looking forward to the discussion today! At 2 pm I think?
yes, great to see you on the chat. We’re always home but I had a lot of stuff from my Mom to go through and my tooth and other decisions to be made. After the chat I shoveled a long skinny path on the side of the driveway and we took Lulu out. She went right down the path. The sidewalk is across the street and it was almost all melted. My driveway not a bit.
I detest ice storms and have fallen hard a few times so I admit its driven by fear. 🙂 Glad your ice melt was able to help break it up and you were still able to get out on your walks. Congrats to your daughter on hitting her ideal weight. Hope things go well with your dental procedure. I took down our Christmas tree this week, too.
I had to snag Beast Business, as well. 🙂
Have a good week, Anne!
Thank you Sophia. The snow is much easier to deal with than the ice. I hope I can pick up my reading this month.
It seems that you also have experienced the freezing temperatures Anne! Stay warm and safe.
Thank you Sophie. I can take it but Lulu is not a fan.
Congrats to your daughter on her weight loss. That’s a big accomplishment. Your books look really good. I hope February is a good reading month for you.
Thank you Yvonne. It is really a big help to her health to be at a better weight.
This year I’m not missing the Snow or Ice. I hope you guys stay safe and warm. Great book haul. I also picked up Beast Business. Love Andrews! Have a wonderful Feb.
Thanks Angela. We can take it but Lulu is not really a fan. Thanksfully we usually only get 0-2 days a year of snow but this year we have a couple weeks of cold in a row.
I’m sorry you’ve had a rough January. I’m sure the ice didn’t help that situation. We’ve had a mild winter so far (no snow or ice) but those things can certainly arrive yet . Have a great week.
Thank you Jodie. No matter how rough my month may have been I am still very fortunate.
Ooh, an Ilona Andrews book I don’t know. 👀 Seems like I’ll be forever catching up with their work! Hope you enjoy, and that February’s a bit less rough!
Thank you Nicky. Ilona Andrews is my favorite. Beast Business is one of those where they teased some snippets and all of a sudden just released a book with any preorder.
I devoured Beast Business! It was so fun getting a story from Augustine’s perspective.
Glad to hear it was great but not surprised. I feel I have to catch up on my ARC commitments before I get to it.
Yikes! Ice is way scarier than snow! Hope it melts for you! I’m sure Lulu isn’t happy. I’ll be buying Beast Business too. Didn’t even know about it until a couple of weeks ago. Sorry I missed this chat! I’m making an effort to be caught up and able to participate next one.
Thanks Rachel. Lulu is not a fan. That would be great because I miss you! You are the featured review in March but it is the start of a different series so it wouldn’t be so bad if you weren’t caught up. But you are missing the fun.
Ugh ice is the worst. I hope you are having an easier time of it now. Poor Lulu. And congrats to your daughter on hitting her goal!
Thank you Erin. The snow is better than the ice. Lulu has handled it pretty well and skirts around any patches of ice or snow on the sidewalk when we walk.
You had a productive reading month! Little Luli looks so cute all bundled up. Can’t blame her for not wanting to go out. I’m glad the weather improved a bit.
Lulu, not Luli. 🤦♀️
Thanks Olivia. Lulu is so happy to walk now that the sidewalks are mostly melted.
We spent this weekend with my in-laws. My husband and I have Androids but they have iPhones. My MIL complained about the new iPhone update all weekend. My FIL’s phone is so old, it didn’t update. I think he still has a 6! He feels justified in keeping his ancient phone now since he doesn’t have to fight the new update.
Congratulations to your daughter on reaching her goal weight!
Thank you Jen. It’s been a real help to her health to have lost the weight.
We thankfully got no snow and not much ice but it is still cold and I am not a fan. So frustrating about the filter. I’m really excited about the Nora Roberts book. Her last suspense was a good one and so creepy! Have a great week!
Thank you Katherine. The snow is still on the ground since it is cold. But something has flipped my switch because 20-30F no longer feels cold. The sun is shining and we are out walking with Lulu. Of course, I am wearing a coat, hat gloves, and boots but for me the wind is more of an issue than the temperature this week.
We got 24″ of snow in that storm a week ago. Of course, up here, we were “business as usual” by Tuesday afternoon. However, the side roads are still covered in compacted snow and ice since the temps don’t get above freezing. So I’ve not been walking for exercise. Fortunately, the bomb cyclone missed us this past weekend. I don’t know where we’ll put any more snow!
yes our snow and ice stayed all last week because of the cold temps. I’m fine with the temps and we are out walking again. The sidewalks melted so Lulu is happy. Today was the first warmer day with the snow melting and it’ supposed to be straight rain tomorrow. I hope that doesn’t freeze into icy streets but it’s not like I’m going out at night often.
Puppers!!!!!!
My daughter and I need to go through her drawers and closet again too. She complains so much when I bring it up. Life with a teenager. Haha. I hope this week has brought you warmer temperatures. We got a couple days of the Santa Ana winds this week, but it wasn’t too bad. The bird feeders are still standing, all their pieces intact.
I was thinking of re-visiting The Hunger Games by checking it out of the library through Hoopla, but I may just go ahead and listen to my next book club book first if it’s available. I’m more likely to get to it if I do it that way.
I hope you are staying warm and safe. Take care, Anne.
Thank you Wendy. I made it low key by only doing one drawer per session. She was really excited to find some things she had misplaced too.
