Sunday, the usual reading, visiting and emails to start. Then into the yard before the rain. I pulled weeds. I hired yard help this year and they blew away leaves, trimmed my tall tree bushes, moved dirt into all the garden beds and some to a pile in the backyard. Tomorrow they’ll be back to mulch around the bushes. Marley came over for pets while I was moving dirt. It’s going to rain tonight so hopefully I can remember after that to spray weedkiller, brush killer, the insect home defense stuff, and most importantly the deer mace before they eat all my flowers. The first stalk of asparagus is up. My daughter walked Lulu.
Monday, a busy day with lots of tasks. I had forgotten to schedule Robin’s review for today. I have noticed if I do not do the scheduling weird things happen and often it does not update to Facebook and other social media. I fixed that up this morning. I checked on my daughter’s Rx. Tomorrow’s appt for her EDS doctor got changed to earlier which is a good thing because we would be running late for our evening plans. I did several loads of laundry, dishes, ordered a few items we need, worked the menu plan for this week, and wrote my review. I studied different investments trying to decide what will tank the least with the Orange Shitler’s tariffs, grift, and wars. At least I have my solar powering my electric car so gas prices aren’t so much an issue for me. I fielded a large number of texts from my brother on planning Mom’s funeral. We walked Lulu and saw Maggie and Clover for treats and pets. The yard guys came back and finished spreading the mulch. I tried on a bunch of sundresses for tomorrow night’s event and was glad to find several fit me.
Tuesday, another blur of a day. I woke early and got to work on things. The turf maintenance guys came doing mosquito control first, then a call from the weed management saying he wouldn’t be today but sometime this week. I remembered I had a service light on my car so I scheduled a checkup / maintenance on Thursday. My daughter’s specialist office called to cancel because she’s having a baby! We can’t get rescheduled until November. Ugh. I called the pharmacy to tell them the gastro specialist said she could take the generic so we got that ordered for tomorrow. We went with the neighbor to Team Up which was a Democratic get together to meet the NC House & Senate candidates, and plans for canvassing.
Wednesday, I had a lot of laundry to handle. Then we took Lulu to the vet for her allergy shot and then picked up my daughter’s Rx at Harris Teeter. I was glad the car worked even though the check engine light was on. We had a nice break before we went with the neighbor to Lorraine’s which is a venue nearby that has bands on the weekend. Then we took my car to the dealer so it would be there for tomorrow morning’s appt. Of course, just then the check engine light went off. Right after we went on a walk with Lulu and the neighbor, ran into another neighbor with her 2 dogs, Heidi and Huckleberry and I had treats for them! It was 88F/ 31c but not humid at all. But tomorrow night it is going to freeze!
Thursday, I was able to get Lulu out before it started the rain, wind and temperature drop. As usual, I have a long list of tasks for today. I don’t know what is going on but so many WordPress sites seem to have – There is a critical error on this website. I got the message when I tried to change a Jetpack setting but Ashley changed something and I haven’t seen it again. Lulu came over to sit right next to me when the rain and wind started, usually she is in a bed near my feet but I guess she needed to be closer. I worked a bit on the menu plan for next week. They didn’t find anything wrong with my car, just ran some diagnostics and changed some filters. When I got back we bundled up and walked Lulu with the neighbor.
Friday, another day where I get up early but don’t get things moving early. I got to work on emails, visiting, and writing reviews. I looked a bit at plans for April. We walked Lulu and saw neighbors with Maisey, Heidi and Huckleberry who were all happy to eat treats. After the walk I sprayed the plants with Deer Mace and the driveway cracks with weed killer. I have all my reviews done for next week – I’m actually a small bit ahead! But I haven’t finished anything on my task list yet today. So my daughter was working on her homework so I decided to backup my phone to the computer. It took over an hour! So I worked on the sweater I am knitting for grand niece, Sophie.
Saturday, another beautiful day. After a little of the usual computer stuff, we ran an errand to pick up some beads my daughter wanted to buy and then a quick stop at Trader Joes. We walked Lulu and met a new neighbor Lincoln who got a treat. A guy from the neighborhood came and took 2/3 of the boxes I had stacked up in the garage; someone else is coming tomorrow for the rest. My daughter’s homework went faster and easier than she expected. I worked on her taxes. I finished up hers and filed them. I started entering stuff on mine but I have some questions before I can finish it.

Thank you Tammy. It’s an important facet of our daily lives as we walk in the neighborhood and meet old friends and new. We’re nice today then a freeze for a few days and back to nice at the end of the week. Big ups and downs.
31c barely a week after sub zero temperatures seems insane!
I’ve already had to cut our weekly food budget from this week to accommodate the petrol increase for my husband’s work commute, and no doubt grocery prices will start increasing soon because of the higher transport costs.

The ups and downs in temperature are sharp. Dump and his oligarchs are making it worse for everyone. I’m glad I went to hybrid and can run on total electric 8 years ago.

You have so many neighborhood pups! We have a few I guess, but we don’t really know any of them. I haven’t even started the taxes. Its too overwhelming. I did them myself for a few years, but the past 2 we have had someone do them. Either way its a hassle! Have a good week!

Sounds like a really busy week! I got a post email for your blog today but it wasn’t for this post. I hate how when doctors cancel visits that they can’t reschedule for almost a whole year! It’s crazy! I hope that is something that you’ll be able to take care of for your daughter till then and it isn’t an urgent issue. I noticed today my grass is starting to grow so that means I’ll probably have to start mowing soon. Although we have freezing temps and possible snow tonight, so it will be a bit before I get out and do any of that. Have a good week!
The weather is truly out of its mind. Freezing to 90 within 24 hours, more than once. I know this Sunday post was scheduled but it didn’t publish. I went in manually to publish but then it didn’t do the post email. That kind of thing is happening a bit more.
I am sorry for your loss Anne. I wasn’t around the past Sunday but it seems that your mother passed away. It’s never easy to lose a parent whatever our or their age.
Thank you Sophie. She passed two days before Christmas but we aren’t having the funeral until later because people are widespread and we need to plan for travel.
That’s nice to have help for your yard now! I think about getting someone sometimes. Yes, the deer mace is a must! We’re supposed to have temps in the low 80s this week! It’s crazy. It still cools down to the 50s at night, though. I have a fire still almost every night. It’s freezing in the house during the day even when it’s hot outside. I’m cold as I type this, lol, but if I went out for a walk I’d be hot because it’s 79 degrees.
yes it’s a fine line between heat and AC in these crazy ups and downs. It was great to get yard help. I always have to have someone trim the taller bushes because I don’t have the equipment so I decided to just make a short list and see what they were willing to do. They were fine with all of it and it’s things I only need twice a year.
That is crazy swings in temperature! We can’t think of gardening here much before the May long weekend. Have a great week Anne!

Critical errors on the blog is a huge fear of mine. I don’t know enough about how they work to deal with it and the person who set mine up isn’t available any longer. Glad yours was fixed.
My daughter was home on break last week. We spent a day in Boston after her doctor appointment (and it was 65F!!). We also had dinner with family on Friday and hung out with friends last evening. I took her back to school today. I also did our taxes yesterday. Phew! that’s a busy week.
That is a busy week! Glad you had nice weather in Boston. I chose UBB and for Ashley to host because I don’t know how to do many things.
Maggie and Clover are two cuties! Nice you are getting your garden going. I am eager to get some flowers into the decorative, concrete pots at our new place. While it’s nice that the specialist is having her baby, it sucks that your daughter’s appointment was postponed for so long. Those freebies and sales are hard to pass up!
I cheated and did perennials for all my flowers when I moved in, in 2019. But the food garden needs work every year. So nice you are getting settled.

yes, we have had days as warm as 90! I planted the lettuces, spinach and chard early this month. It was actually kind of late but we got snow in February.
Ohmygosh I forgot about taxes AGAIN! Let me set a reminder on my phone for this weekend. Done! See you Saturday at 11am.
The first asparagus stalk is up! So exciting!!!
I was thinking that it would be really nice to have an electric bike right now with the gas prices rising. At least I have a regular bicycle if things get crazy.
Well my car can run 50-60 miles without any gas so I’m good, especially since I don’t go anywhere most days.
What a busy week. Nice you had those yard guys to help your your garden and neat your first asparagus stalk is there already. I am wondering if I might have EDS as well, as I have some symptoms that might point to that and I know it’s common for autistic people to have EDS as well. Will have to look into it more. How did your daughter find out about her EDS? Glad to hear there was nothing wrong with your car. I hope you have a great week!
Thanks Lola. My daughter was having a variety of issues and was already seeing an OBGYN specialist and neurologists, and saw a rheumatologist who said she had fibromyalgia and might have EDS. We tried from 2018 to 2025 to get in to the EDS specialist and finally got an appt in August 2025. EDS has many facets but she does have it and almost every bad symptom- menstrual issues, migraines, joint/ muscle pains, IBS, hypomobility, dizziness. She pretty much has to treat symptoms because there isn’t any overall treatment.
