The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.
Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.
Sunday, cloudy and not quite as hot, at least in the morning. I have more catchup to do today in visiting. I made progress but there’s more to do. We walked Lulu and it was hot but bearable. After dinner, we did get some rain.
Monday, it’s raining off and on. We need it. Lulu slept with my daughter because she is scared when it rains. I am listening to my audiobook for tomorrow. I uploaded an audio to my listening app. I updated my links for this semester for Library Love. I also updated my post for Mid-Year Check-in with the savings for Library Love. We went to walk with the neighbor.
Tuesday, I didn’t get going quickly but I am catching up. I wrote reviews, and made calls. I started looking over what else for July review spots. I ordered lettuce and chard seeds to plant that are heat tolerant for greens during the cyclospora outbreak. We have some chard but we will need more. Lettuce doesn’t usually grow much in July and August with the heat. I’ll have to start them indoors and then put them out in a shady part of the garden and water them. My daughter went to bingo with the neighbor and I got out the sprinklers for the once a week watering allowed.
Wednesday, we had our annual checkups in the late morning . Everything is looking good but my blood pressure was a bit low. I was going to check my blood pressure and found my ex took my new monitor instead of the old one. The old one doesn’t seem to be working but it is from the 1980s So I ordered another new one. Now I need to do more phone calls and catchup work.
Thursday, I got a few more tasks accomplished this morning. Then we took Lulu for her allergy shot. Next we went to BJs fo a return, and a pickup. We put all stuff away. It’s 99 with heat index of 104. Too hot. I need to water the gardens. I’m still debating about my July slots coming up and my September is overflowing.
Friday, I didn’t get up early but I did remember to open the blinds for the lettuce starts and take my blood pressure. I listened to audiobooks, wrote reviews. I worked on figuring out what reviews I will do he next few weeks. I set up a bunch of posts.
Saturday, I seem to be resting up and sleeping in mornings. I finally went through all my Feedly posts to catch up. n I created the updated headers for Sunday Series. Then I set up Sophia’s posts for September. I finished one audiobook and started another. It looks like another hot and busy week ahead.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):
My grateful thanks to Brilliance Audio, (Cold Redemption) Berkley, Berkley, Kensignton.

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)
I bought these at Chirp for $4 each.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

Chirp Friday freebies:

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

Sweet Lulu💜
It must be good to be back home and in your regular routines. Have a great week!
yes thank you. I’m scrambling to get caught up but I’m finally making some progress. Listening to the last Kim Stone book now. (:
My September is overflowing too, I’m hoping to start a few books early. Sounds like a busy week. We’re hoping for rain but it’s not in this week’s forecast, unfortunately. Have a good week!
Well we got some rain last night and it is forecast for several days this week. Let’s hope we get it. But now I’ll just have to mow the lawn and that 100+ feel is not making that easy. I hope I can get ahead in August since I won’t want to be outdoors as much if it is this hot.
I’m sure you are happy to be home! It’s nice to have some rain, we had so much this summer. And now it’s a lot of heat! I have the opposite with blood pressure. It’s been really good lately, but I know it’s because of the medication I take. I wish I could stop taking it, but I know I need to lose weight and start exercising before I can get that to happen. I hope you have a good week!
I am really glad to be home and to get on to things which need to be done. Usually during this July-August heat I work on blogging ahead for the next year and also the setup for the next year’s Read-along. I hope I can get some more projects going this year.
I get you on the weather Anne! We had over 100 degrees on holiday without aircon!
That’s brutal Sophie. I hope you have fans and other methods for keeping cooler.
When it’s hot, I don’t want to do anything. We’ve actually had decent weather. It was really hot (for us) only one day, and we only had one/two days with the bad smoke from the Canadian fires. My poor parents have it really bad and must stay inside. Luckily they have a/c. I’ve been getting out walking with my neighbor, which takes away audiobook listening time, but I’m doing more walking in general. I’m still trying to decide if I will go visit my son at his new apartment this week.
It’s great you get to go see your son and his new place. I’m glad you have less smoke and hope the fires are stopped and the smoke clears.
I’ve no doubt you’ll be caught up in no time.
Thanks for sharing your week, happy reading!
Thanks for the vote of confidence. I hope to even get ahead a bit.
Glad you are home and settling back in to your routines. Hopefully your blood pressure reading was just an off day!
Thanks Samantha. I am finally starting to feel less stressed and on schedule.
There’s nothing like getting home and returning to normal routines. I can understand why you need to start your lettuce inside. We can generally plant lettuce from March to August although lettuce can tend to bolt in July and August making it bitter.
yes from what I read lettuce won’t germinate if it is above 80F and it is above that every day now. The lettuce is coming up already! It’s been less than a week.
Glad your medical appointment went well. I hope the BP gets to where it should be. Mine is always high when I go to the doctor, which I’m going to tomorrow. I’ve been lucky and just stay inside with all this hot weather. I picked up the same audio books from Chirp that you did. Hope you have a great week!
Thanks Yvonne. It’s too hot to go out and finally this week we are getting some rain. My blood pressure is too low. So they want me to check it for awhile and maybe they will change my medication for high blood pressure.
I hope it cools down a little by you, the heat has been alot lately. I need to start growing my own greens too! Or go to a local farmer to buy them. I have not eaten any greens lately unless they are frozen veggies and I miss my salads.
yes mine is sprouting but it will be a few weeks. Once they are planted outside I think I’ll grow another batch of starts inside. I hope this works as I love my salads or even lettuce on sandwiches.
Whoah! Did not know that Bennett had a new novella coming out! Excited for the heat to die down a bit so I can read outside more during the day
yes it is short but very good. I finished it today. Thanks for visiting.
I’ve heard good things about the M.R. Carey books! Hope you enjoy.
Have a good week!
yes Tammy reviewed them favorably and they aren’t reliable at the library anymore so I bought them. They are a genre I enjoy.
The beachfront book looks good!
yes it seems fitting for summer. That’s the 7th book but I have the first one as a freebie also.
Sounds like you’re getting back into your routine. Glad you got a little rain, at least. I think I got nearly a dozen Kindle freebies in the last week. 🙄🤨😝
Thankfully it is raining now too. We are supposed to get more this week also. Now I just have to figure out when I can mow the lawn when it’s under 100.
It’s always so good to be back home! I’m so curious about the Laura Griffin. I’m looking forward to seeing your thoughts on it. Have a great week!
Thanks Katherine. I am very glad to be back in my routines and not feel so stressed at being behind. The Griffin book is out in November so it will be awhile.
Just got back from Montana today. A long day of travel. I just finished The Lion’s Tusk today on the plane and enjoyed it! My lettuce didn’t do well this year. I think it was too late when I planted it and maybe it wasn’t getting enough water. I was going to start a new batch. We’ve been okay for the most part with lettuce here. We only buy head lettuce and that seems to be a safer option.
I bet you are glad to be home. I hope my summer lettuce works out. The spring lettuce was great. Fall lettuce usually works too. It’s been raining every other day this week, which we need.
Aww sweet Lulu…rain and an allergy shot all in the same week!
You’re growing your own lettuce to avoid the parasite and I’m over here pulling chunks of iceberg off a head of lettuce from the store for my BLTA sandwich and not even washing it. Oops.
yes well growing my own lettuce is a slow process. I hope it works. In the meantime, I may need to go to the farmer’s market more often which I enjoy anyway.
After all the traveling and fun you need to sleep in a bit. I find myself sleeping in way after my alarm. I know it’s because there’s nothing pressing (after all that’s been going on for the last couple of years), but I feel like I should be caught up by now. I guess I just need to set a second alarm. Something I’ve never had to do. I’m such a Pisces. lol I should really start my own lettuce. I have old gutters I could use. Just need to keep the deer out of it.
yes I seem to be needing more sleep right now and not getting it. I’m still learning about lettuce during this hot part of the summer and don’t know if I will be successful. I custom built raised beds. We have not had deer bother the vegetable garden but we have bunnies which I also haven’t had bother them. Our culprit has been squirrels.
