The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.
Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar. Read-along giveaway ends tonight!
Sunday, I slept plenty but still felt tired after the deficit the night before. I did my blog visiting and usual computer stuff. I enjoyed seeing people at the Read-along chat. Then I posted the Pacing plans for the next book, thanks to Brandee. It’s 100 days until the election. I checked that my and my daughter are still registered. We vote in every election so we should be and it was fine. I mowed the backyard since it was cloudy but muggy. The grass was tall.
Monday, I set up more posts for upcoming reviews. August is going to be a juggle with many long books, more ebooks than audio and audio books which I don’t know if I can get until the last minute. My Mom would have been 99 today.
Tuesday, it’s supposed to rain but so far it’s just cloudy. My daughter and I rotated her mattress this morning changing out the mattress cover and washing the top blankets too. I wrote a review and did other post setups and edited and scheduled some posts. My daughter wanted to go to bingo so I took her but read in the car. It started raining at the end.
Wednesday, I did my usual computer stuff in the morning. At noon we left for a round of errands. We went to look at a Toyota RAV4 plugin. I wanted to see how similar or different it is from the Volt. It has a few newer features I like and it sits higher. I’m not ready to buy yet. Then we went around to 4 thrift shops in that area. My daughter found some jewelry and we found some more dresses. We also got my favorite flavor of the day at Culvers Salted Double Caramel Pecan. It took forever, so we were just stopping for lunch at 7pm! We missed picking up an RX since it was after 8 by the time we got there and home. We stayed up a little later because Marley came to stay a few days. I was so tired I couldn’t read or go to sleep easily. Still a daylily blooming!
Thursday, let Lulu and Marley out. It was a bit cooler with a north wind, less humidity. Neither one was eating their food. I got to work on the usual stuff and finally caught up on comments. Lulu ate her food, and then snuck downstairs when we were in the office and ate Marley’s food! I ran over to pick up the RX and some more laundry soap. We walked with the dogs. Then Marley and Lulu were playing with toys while I wrote a review.
Friday, well today started out well. Marley ate Lulu’s food; Lulu ate Marley’s food. I was mostly lazy today, reading and relaxing a bit. We took the dogs out to walk right before dinner. Unfortunately, we were coming into a lady with a stroller and two dogs so we went into the street. I never like to do that. I’d rather wait in a driveway or something. I had Marley and she jumps way up barking on her back legs. I had her sitting, holding onto her harness, and then all of a sudden she jumped up. I leaned forward to grab the harness but that was a mistake because then she dragged me face first into the concrete curb. My hands and knees and right shoulder are road rash. My right cheek is a bit swollen but it is the left one that hurts?? Anyway, another neighbor friend stopped her car and gave me and Lulu a ride home. I have lots of big bandages.
Saturday, it wasn’t as bad as I expected when I woke up. But if I sit for a bit I am stiff and it hurts to move. Lulu and Marley wee playing with toys together. I’m doing mostly computer work setting up new posts but I did run the dishwasher and do several loads of laundry. My daughter mowed the backyard. It was right around 90F but supposed to be lower humidity. It felt muggy to me. It was cloudy though. Now she is walking Lulu, and Marley stayed here with me. I learned how to do some new things in the LoseIt app, how to delete recipes and also how to turn a meal into a recipe. I need to put together a Walmart order for tomorrow or Monday.
This next week is going to be in the upper 80s again and some rain, so just below hot. My daughter has two medical appts this week but the one is telehealth so it’s not too busy this week.
July Reading:
I managed to read 20 books. Audiobooks continue to help me read more. Some count for more than one challenge.
- 14 Audiobooks
- 5 Library books
- 16 COYER
- 8 Books I Own
All Library books (including ones not reviewed on the blog) 2026 Library Love Challenge
I did manage to read 8 books I own (goal is 3 per month):
- 🎧 Artemis by Andy Weir
- 🎧 Firestorm by Rachel Grant
- 🎧 Little Children by Angela Marsons
- Inferno by Rachel Grant
- Last Stand by Larry A. Winters
- 🎧 Wicked Women by Angela Marsons
- The Spy Coast by Tess Gerritsen

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):
My grateful thanks to Macmillan Audio, Brilliance Audio, 7th Floor Books, Kensington Books.

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)
I picked my Amazon First Read for July.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

Oh Anne. I’m so sorry to hear about your mishap. I hope you are starting to feel better. Road rash stings so badly. I love that Sara Driscoll series, so thanks for the heads up on the new book coming. I hope you enjoy all your new additions to your shelves. Happy August.
Thank you Carla. I keep finding new bruises and missing skin. But it’s healing. I’m so happy about the new books, all are authors I have read, actually all are new installments in series I enjoy.
I’m sorry to hear about the fall with Marley. She doesn’t look big enough to have that happen, but maybe it’s just the photo. I have had so many injuries walking Badger. He is a big strong dog and I’m pretty small, lol. He’s pulled me over when I wasn’t prepared several times, even though he’s pretty well trained, but some dogs and other critters (rabbits and cats!) just set him off. Hope you have a good week!
Thanks Tammy. Marley isn’t that big 26 pounds, but she is young and strong. My mistake was I was leaning forward to grab her harness to hold her in place while the other dogs went by. So a strong tug continued the momentum. And unfortunately she is not trained. They don’t ever walk her.
Sweet Lulu💜 and her dear friend Marley! Happy heavenly birthday to your Mom.
I hope you’re okay following your mishap. Have a wonderful week, Anne.
Thank you Jonetta. I’ll be fine. It was a shock but I was just leaning forward at the wrong time. They are playing with toys right now. It looks like they are beating the stuffing out of Chucky Chicken.
Oh no! Glad you’re okay mostly, but those falls are not good. I noticed this past week that Argyle is finishing his food faster than Dora these days and now he’ll go over and eat her food if she’s not done eating yet. So I’ve had to start watching them until they finish to stop him. Poor Dora has lost weight and I wonder if that’s why. Our heat will be somewhat similar this week, up to 80s and not as horrible as we had last week. Hope you have a good week!
Thanks Lisa. At least we are getting some rain. Lulu ate all the food this morning leaving nothing for Marley. Sigh.
Oh no, that sounds really painful! I hope the healing process is quick! You got a LOT of reading accomplished in July. I’m jealous! Haha.
Thank you Sarah. It is painful but less each day as it heals. I expected to do MORE reading in July with the long car days I can sometimes finish a book a day. But it worked out ok as I did read more ebooks than expected.
OMG Anne I am sorry you fell on your face! That sounds really apinful!
Thanks Sophie. It was bad but she caught me when I was leaning forward and down I went.
Oh no Anne! I’m sorry you had that accident and hope you are feeling okay now. The humidity is always an energy killer for me. Have a wonderful week ahead.
Thank you Jodie. I don’t plan to do much in August, at least outdoors but I take it day by day. I’m finding new patches of missing skin each day but I’m sure it will all heal well.
Oh my!! I hope you aren’t too beat up from the mishap. It’s been cooler than normal up our way. I think I’ve had the AC unit on less than 10 times all summer. I had a quiet week, which is nice as the summer starts to wind down and activities pick up again. My daughter and I have enjoyed just sitting and reading. I hope you have a good week!
Thanks Jen. It hurts but it will heal. Lucky you with the cooler. At least we are getting rain each week now.
Oh no! I’m so sorry about your fall. I hope you are feeling better. Take care of yourself.
Thanks Yvonne I am dragging this week but I’m sure I will be fine.
Sorry to hear about your fall. We run into similar problems when walking Ranger-he is so big and so happy to see people he loses all control. Hopefully it really does cool off a bit this week!
Thanks Samantha. I don’t think it will cool off and now it looks like we won’t get as much rain.
Oof, hope you heal up quickly from the fall!
Thank you Nicky. Me too. I improve a little each day.
Ouch! I hope you are healing well.
Thanks for sharing your week, happy reading!
Thank you. I’m taking it easy and getting in lots of reading.
It always takes so long to feel not exhausted after a really busy period. Oh no on the fall! I hope you are feeling better and starting to heal. Have a great (accident free) weel.
Thanks Katherine. It’s going to take awhile but I am healing. I just seem to be so tired.
I’m so sorry that you fell! I’m happy that you weren’t injured worse, though! How scary! I’m looking forward to starting Brimstone Hollow soon and I will grab up The Shadow Friends as soon as it becomes available on KU. I hope you feel better!
Thank you Rachel. I’m being pretty laid back this week so I can rest and heal. I am doing lots of reading though.
Oh no! That sounds like a bad fall but I’m glad it wasn’t even worse. Salted double caramel pecan sounds amazing. I’ve only been to Culver’s a few times but I always like what I get.
Thank you Jen. It hurts but it is all superficial really. I’m healing and so I’m just taking it easy a bit this week.
Oh! I feel so awful for you! Hope you and Marley are on the mend quickly. Speaking of too many freebies, I get the Amazon first reads each month, but I really don’t know if I’ve read on yet!
Thanks Becki. Marley wasn’t hurt at all. She just ran off to bark at the other dogs and came back. I’m healing fine. I’ve read a few of my First Reads. I really liked The Spy Coast by Tess Gerritsen which I read recently.
