Blightfall is the first book in a Riftwake a spin off or sequel series to Skyward. This is YA all the way, with fast paced plot lines, cool fight scenes and sweet innocent slow build romances. While you can read it without reading the Skyward series first, I think some of the world building would […]
Blood of the Old Kings is a Korean novel translated to English. As I’ve found with other writers from other countries there is a distinct type of storytelling/flow that wasn’t specifically what I’m used to in American novels but might be more prevalent in Korean ones. I don’t think if you didn’t know the original […]
Sweet Nightmare is the first book of The Calder Academy, a spin off to the Crave series set in the same world with a few cross over characters. I have not read the Crave series and kept up just fine, but I’m sure there are some nuggets in here for those who have read the […]
Bastille vs. the Evil Librarians is the final book of the Alcatraz vs. the Evil Librarians series where we change PoVs from Alcatraz to Bastille. You might wonder why on book 6 we are changing PoVs but that is easy, because Alcatraz is a blubbering mess for the first half of the book and Bastille […]
Evershore is the third novella in the Skyward series and even though it is listed as 3.1 all the events in it happen before book 3 chronologically so I would read it then. Jorgen, call sign Jerkface, has so many new challenges ahead of him. With the disappearance of Cob he is on a rescue […]
Cytonic is the 3rd full length novel In Brandon Sanderson’s Skyward series. Just a note – there are 2 novellas between Starsight and Cytonic, which I highly recommend you read before you begin Cytonic or you will spend the entire time wondering what is going on with Jorgen, FM, Rig and all the rest of […]
Sunreach is the first novella of three Sanderson has planned for his Skyward series and should be read after the second book. It is different in that he has teamed up with another writer to give us a view point from one of the side characters of the series FM. She is one of the […]
Igniting Darkness is the final book in the duology featuring primarily Sybella and Genevieve, but also Maraud. It is a continuation of the story begun in Courting Darkness, which definitely should be read first. Really the two books make a complete story with the main characters being much the same, and many of the plots unfinished […]
Read It, Rate It and Record A short review to update challenges If you have ever had a problem with body image, eating issues or felt like you weren’t attractive enough, you will understand. If you haven’t, Good Luck With That is a great book for learning to understand the feelings of others. […]
Courting Darkness is the first book in a new duology featuring Sybella from the His Fair Assassin Series. It can be read without any prior knowledge of the previous series as Robin LaFevers brings you up to speed, but I think you miss some of the magic of the Daughters of St Mortain (God of […]
