This is an author I have wanted to try, so since this is the first in a new series, I grabbed it. This is a different kind of supernatural which left me wanting to know much more. The world was rich, interesting and a good amount of action. There was also a lot of sex, hot, fairly detailed sex. It was a good read; it kept me engrossed.
But I did some eye-rolling. The guy, Stefano, in fact all the guys, are hot alphahole billionaires. They are in control and everyone knows it. Francesca is not a doormat; her thoughts are not too logical at times. She is however a poor, almost virgin, on the run from trouble.
To me, this is old school contemporary romance and paranormal romance. I am over books where the man has everything, is in charge, and the woman starts with nothing. It makes it much harder to connect with the characters.
The rest of the characters were fine, but still too black or white for me. It’s all money or no money. Good or evil. I need more gray and layers in my world. Things aren’t so simple. With more character development, it wouldn’t seem as much this way. By the end of Shadow Rider, it was getting better. Sill, my wish for the future would be for more character development and some powerful women.

I read all types of books but my favorites are urban fantasy and romantic suspense.I like some romance and some action / adventure / mystery in everything.I like sex in my books but please, only between TWO people.Intimate conversation is equally important to the sex in a book.It lets me see the characters.The other thing I enjoy is humor.
