In Molly Harper's newest paranormal romantic comedy, Ben, Gigi's old boyfriend, must find a way to save his new love after a freak Ultimate Frisbee accident. But will she want to live after she finds out how Ben had to save her?

In this exciting addition to Molly Harper’s beloved Half-Moon Hollow series, the focus is on Gigi’s ex-boyfriend Ben. When his new girlfriend is killed in a freak Ultimate Frisbee accident, he’s determined to save her, no matter the cost, even if it means bringing her into the darkness of vampire life!

I have enjoyed everything I have read by Molly Harper because of the humor. Plus, the books I have read all have Dick Cheney and I love him! The Accidental Sire features Gigi’s old boyfriend, Ben, and one of Olivia’s college friends, Meagan. It starts at the college and moves on to Half Moon Hollow. Happily, it has characters from both places.

I really liked Meagan and how she adapted herself. Ben has always been kind of too good to be true and he still has that feel.  They are both college students and just starting their lives and it’s wonderful to see how they grow. I was really happy to see Olivia, Jane, Dick (of course!), Iris, Libby, and the rest of the gang. I care about these people and it is great to have a few scenes and catch up with them.

There is also a mystery intertwined with the new vampire story line, but no one is trying to solve it for awhile. I figured out some of the players right away and think Meagan could have caught on much faster, or Jane, or Olivia. The purpose and scope of the shenanigans weren’t clear to me, even when I knew people were deceptive.

I read this but I have to say I always like to get the audio for this series because the Molly Harper with Amanda Ronconi combo is a favorite!  Reading or listening, I don’t think you can go wrong with this Half-Moon Hollow series.

Giggle-worth quote:

I took my laptop from the counter and opened up the Wi-Fi settings, finding one network labeled “Get You Own Wi-Fi, Shirley.”

“Who’s Shirley?” I asked.

“The only neighbor I have close enough to try to leech off my Wi-Fi signal.” Jane sighed.”She’s eerily talented at guessing passwords.”

“Well, what did you expect with a password like ‘draculagirl’?” Georgie asked. “Honestly.”

  1. Tanya,
I ended up reading this one but will likely buy the audio since that is my preference for this series. And yes, the combo always is able to make me laugh. There was another giggle worthy quote I REALLY wanted to include but felt it was too spoilery and I try not to spoil.

  2. I love everything Harper has written – that I’ve read, which is almost everything – so I’m really excited to read this one. Franky (my step-son)’s mom has it on audio and we share logins, so I’ll be logging in to listen to it as soon as I finish my HP reread. You know it’ll be great with Ronconi. Glad to hear you enjoyed it and super excited to see the gang again!
