Mackenzie "Mac" Harris fled her hometown of Bluff Point, Maine, after being left at the altar--and seeking solace in the arms of her best friend's off-limits brother. Now, seven years later, she's back to attend her best friend's wedding--safe, or so she thinks, from the mistakes of her youth.

But Gavin Tolliver has never forgotten the woman who has always held his heart. And when Mac rescues a stray puppy named Tulip, only Gavin, the town's veterinarian, can help. With a little assistance from Tulip, Gavin vows to make Mac realize that their feelings are more than just puppy love...

This had all the things needed for a great small town romance. There was a group of women, old friends who had grown up together, all back in town for Emma’s wedding. The two women who don’t live there have family to visit and enjoy in the small town. They have a group of guys who are the best man and groomsmen to do activities with them. The small town has charming restaurants, businesses, and favorite hangouts. There are quirky characters needed in every small town.

However, the wedding activities are two weeks worth of planned events. Who can take off two whole weeks? Mac comes from Chicago to Maine and stays with her fun aunts in the family home where she grew up. She and her boyfriend are “on a break.” He is a flat character, none of her friends or aunts like him. She comes back to face all the things she fled seven years ago. I love the group of friends but it is hard to stay close when separated all these years.

Mac finds a dog. The bride’s brother, Gavin, is of course, a veterinarian, so he helps with the care. Gavin’s fiance ran off a few month ago with another man. Mac puts up signs to look for the dog’s owner but becomes quite attached. What happens with both the dog and Mac’s long-term Chicago boyfriend are rather unbelievable to me.

I enjoyed the group of friends and guys. They have some fun activities and unique personalities. The aunts are fun and insightful about their niece. I liked reading About A Dog but it’s too typical to have any lasting impact. There are at least two more books planned in the Bluff Point Romance series.
