Attorney Evan Stone knows every crazy stipulation in billionaire Rudy Carmichael’s will. After all, he wrote it. And he’s determined to make sure each one is fully met by Rudy’s triplet daughters. Even if that means dating the workaholic CEO, Ava. Or pretending to at least. And even if it means resisting the so-right-for-him-she’s-totally-wrong party girl, Cori.
Cori’s only got three things on her to do list from her dad:
• Move to Bliss, Kansas.
• Run his pie shop with her sisters for a year.
• No dating. For six months. But stepping in for her sister when it’s clear that Ava and Evan aren’t fooling anyone with their “romance” isn’t really dating. And falling for her sister’s pretend boyfriend while pretending to be her sister…well, that’s ridiculous. No matter how real things feel whenever she and Evan are together.
I love the way Erin Nicholas develops her characters and has a sense of humor in her stories. So it was odd I had trouble at the start of Diamonds and Dirt Roads; it just felt so unrealistic in many ways. The amount of money, the crazy will stipulations, the sisters not knowing each other very well all didn’t seem real, leaving me uncomfortable for the first quarter of the book. At least, the billionaires are women! But then, there was Cori.
Cori was amazing, so smart and creative. She was always taking care of others, making things better with a great attitude no matter what life threw at her. The situations she and her sisters get into are rather funny. I fell as hard for Cori as Evan did. I’d be her bff in a heartbeat. She is just special. While this is romance, with some light-hearted fun, it also deals with some real issues people have with their family and friends. THAT is where it gets real.
And now I’m invested in the town and its people, as well as the other two sisters, Ava and Brynn. Then there’s Evan’s friends, Parker and Noah, who we just start to get a sense of their personalities. I look forward to the rest of the Billionaire in Blue Jeans series which does not seem to be on Goodreads or have dates, but my link is to an Erin Nicholas site with the covers for High Heels and Haystacks, and Cashmere and Camo.
