Fresh off my Voodoo-tastic vacation to New Orleans, I find myself presented with the first test of my newly discovered magic. There’s been a murder in the neighboring town of Pine Shoals and the victim has decided she’s not cut out for the spectral life and needs a gentle push into the Otherworld.
As it turns out, conjuring some magic and telling a ghost to ‘go towards the light’ isn’t quite good enough, and now the hysterical ghost is stuck in some kind of limbo land.
It’s up to me to solve her murder before the poor ghost goes insane—or, becomes demon food. Whichever happens first.
Reapers creepers.
I have been reviewing the books in the Beechwood Harbor Ghost Mysteries as they are released. The previous series is the Beechwood Harbor Magic Mysteries which I am working on reading. The books of both series are in Kindle Unlimited.
Big Ghosts Don’t Cry is my favorite so far! I have always felt the books were well-written and the narrator is talented. The stories are a blend of a mystery, Scarlet’s personal growth and her romance with Lucas. My concern was that most of the book was taken up with working the mystery which was sometimes more blundering. Scarlet was NOT trying to figure out or learn about her abilities. Her relationship with Lucas often got a few pages in the epilogue or last chapter.
Now it was all integrated throughout the story!!! We got a murder mystery with a ghost who doesn’t know what happened to her. Scarlet learns more about her skills and actually works on developing them a bit. Lucas is woven in all across the chapters. And yes, we still get more exciting updates at the end!
Narration:
Amanda Ronconi is a well-loved narrator with lots of experience in this paranormal genre. Scarlet, Lucas, Flapjack, Gwen and Hayward all have unique voices and are now familiar to me. I listened at my usual 1.5x speed. Her performance added to my enjoyment.

Her series are popular cozy mysteries. The narrator is Amanda Ronconi which also makes them popular.
That title cracked me up! LOL This sounds perfect for me. And a new cozy author too:)
This is the second series with the witch one being first. They are all in KU. Some are just coming out on audio so I am reviewing that way.
Great review. Danielle Garrett is a fun author to read. I’m working on the other series in Beechwood Harbor.
yes I’m actually working on the other series also. I’ve read some of it. So I’m a bit out of order but I don’t seem to mind.
