This is a new feature I developed where each month we will look at our favorite – the best – series in a genre.
The genre here, by my definition, is a series with cowboys as a main character. These are the ones which came to mind. I enjoyed some more than others and I have read at least the first book of these series. The team helped me with this one too. Sophia is especially knowledge about western romances. Oddly for four of the six, Christmas is a theme. The Katie Ruggle series only has the first book but it was my absolute favorite – a 5 heart read- so I decided to include it.
Since I haven’t read everything, it’s a subset of the possibilities. I’m sure I am forgetting some great authors. There are also plenty of authors I have yet to read. Please share your favorites with me in the comments, also.
My Cowboy series are (in no particular order):
Texas Rodeo Cowboys of Creedence Burnt Boot Texas
by Kari Lynn Dell by Jennie Marts by Carolyn Brown
Heart of Texas Wyoming Cowboy Rocky Mountain Cowboys
by Donna Grant by Jessica Clare by Katie Ruggle
What are your favorite series?

I love Cowboy Romances, but I’ve not read anywhere near all the good ones out there. 🙂 But, let’s see what I’ve got on my shelf *cracks knuckles*
To what you have listed, I would add: Carolyn Brown’s many other series, Jennifer Ryan’s The Hunted and Mountain Men, Lorelei James’ Rough Riders and Blacktop Cowboys, Cat Johnson’s Oklahoma Nights and Studs N Spurs, Catherine Anderson’s Mystic Creek, Linda Lael Miller’s McKettrick, Cheyenne McCray’s Riding Tall, AM Arthur’s Clean Slate Ranch (m/m), LC Chase’s Pick Up Men (m/m), Andrew Grey’s The Good Fight (m/m), Emma Lang’s Heart, Laura Drake’s Chestnut Creek, Joanne Kennedy’s Cowboys of Decker and Blue Sky Cowboys, Diana Palmer’s Long Tall Texans and Wyoming Men, Elizabeth Lowell, Roxanne Snopek, CJ Carmichael’s Carrigans of the Circle C, Victoria Vane’s Hot Cowboy Nights and Hotel Rodeo, Maisey Yates’ Silver Creek, Laura Wright’s Cavanaugh Brothers, Soraya M Lane’s River Ranch, Nicole Helm’s Navy SEAL Cowboys, Paula Altenburg’s Montana McGregor Brothers, Lori Wilde, Jodi Thomas’ Harmony, Katie Lane’s Deep in the Heart of Texas, Brenda Jackson’s The Westmorelands, Beverly Jenkins, Mary Calmes’ Timing (m/m), CH Admirand, MJ Frederick, ZA Maxfield’s The Cowboys (m/m), BJ Daniels, Dylann Crush’s Holiday Texas, Delores Fossen, Randi Alexander, Kim Redford’s Smokin Hot Cowboys, Victoria Dahl’s Jackson Hole, Pam Godwin, Jill Sanders, Joan Johnston, Vivian Arend, Lisa Bingham’s Taggart Brothers, Jean Brashear, Rae Ann Thayne, Cora Seton’s Cowboys of Chance Creek, Lindsay McKenna’s Jackson Hole, Vickie Lewis Thompson’s Sons of Chance,
LOL, okay so I’m a bit addicted.
As I mentioned you’re the expert. I certainly had fun reading so many cowboy books over the past 2 months. There are so many options and these 6 are all great. I had trouble voting for just 3. I will say the Katie Ruggle one is an odd choice with only one in the series so far but this book was a 5 heart read for me.
Oh my stars! How could I miss your shout out. I glanced right over it. LOL I really hope Katie Ruggle finishes that series of her Cowboys. I was startled when a new one didn’t come out last fall.
I can’t say I’ve read many cowboy stories, but I don’t mind looking at the covers!?
I hadn’t read many but Sophia coaxed me onto the dark side. lol. I enjoyed reading a bunch of these.
I do enjoy a cowboy story. I know I have some, just not recalling them at the moment:)
I enjoyed these. I had more than I thought and then Sourcebooks did that big giveaway of first books in a series free and some of those were cowboy stories.
I like the Cowboys & Brides book series because of the brave gals & sexy cowboys. 🙂
Is this the Carolyn Brown one? I usually like her but I read the first one of this series in 2013 and really didn’t like it. Billionaire guy, poor gal. But that is a common theme in romance.
I wish Katie Ruggle would write more in her Rocky Mountain Cowboys. I loved that book. Texas Rodeo by Kari Lynn Dell is another good series for Cowboys. Delores Fossen’s Wrangler’s Creek series is another good Cowboy series to read or listen too. I also liked Gold Valley by Maisy Yates and last the first 3 books in The Cavanaugh Brothers by Laura Wright I enjoyed.
I totally LOVED the Katie Ruggle one. I like how real the Dell ones are with the added interest of rodeo events. I haven’t read the others. But I think I’ve seen good things about the Maisey Yates ones too.
I did audio through my library on all the Cowboys I listed. The audios were good and kept the story going. I agree on Dell she adds the rodeo and it’s authentic.
What fun… I have read a few of these series or am reading them!
I try to have some fun topics with my SoS.
I love anything Katie Ruggle writes but Rocky Mountain Cowboy was one of my favorites by her. Carolyn Brown writes some fun cowboy stories. I always laugh. I think my newest favorite though is Jessica Clare’s cowboy romances. A Cowboy Under the Mistletoe is my favorite to date in her Wyoming Cowboy series. I also love Carly Bloom’s cowboys! She’s a new to me author and my favorite by her was: Cowboy Come Home. Jay Crownover has been doing some real good cowboy stories, too!
I loved that Katie Ruggle book – it’s a 5 heart one for me. I have enjoyed a variety of Carolyn Brown. I know about the Jay Crownover ones but haven’t read them yet.
