This is a new feature I developed where each month we will look at our favorite – the best – series in a genre or topic.
The topic here, by my definition, is a series with a setting in Colorado. These are the ones which came to mind. I enjoyed some more than others.
Since I haven’t read everything, it’s a subset of the possibilities. I’m sure I am forgetting some great authors. There are also plenty of authors I have yet to read. Please share your favorites with me in the comments, also.
My favorite Colorado series are (in no particular order):
I-team Rocky Mountain K9 unit Timber Creek K-9 Mystery
by Pamela Clare by Katie Ruggle by Margaret Mizushima
Jo Wyatt Mystery Sydney Rose Parnell Cozy Corgi Mysteries
by M.E. Browning by Barbara Nickless by Mildred Abbott

I’ve read quite a few series with a Colorado setting but the two that immediately came to mind were by Pamela Clare. She brings that setting to life, making it an integral part of the story in unique ways.
Great state to pick!
I love Pamela Clare.
Fated by Rebecca Zanetti because I love vampires and it’s an exciting and sexy series. The series does jump around but does come back to Colorado every now and then.
I enjoy Rebecca Zanetti but haven’t read that series. Thanks for sharing.
I love Rebecca Zanetti’s Dark Protectors & Realm Enforcers – most of the series takes place in Colorado but jumps around a little bit, I also love Terry Spear’s Silvertown Wolves, Billionaire Wolves and Wolf Brothers which is part of her wolf shifter universe but these three series takes place in Colorado where the others takes place elsewhere!
Good to know. I haven’t read those specific series although I know the authors’ works.
I love Colorado, and the mountains make for a great setting for any genre of books.
yes they do Wendy. I think the action/adventure fits the outdoorsy nature of the state and also the dogs in search and rescue mode.
I love the bond between Mattie and Robo.
Yes! That’s one reason I enjoy K9 series so much.
I added my two favorites, Marked Men series by Jay Crownover and I think the Wait With Me series by Amy Daws takes place in Colorado!
oh I think I’ve read Marked Men but it’s been awhile or maybe I have the wrong series. But I didn’t remember the Colorado aspect. Thanks for sharing those Lisa.
Colorado is beautiful and I’ve enjoyed quite a few books/series set there.
It is beautiful. I’m also partial to the action / adventure / survival stories that might be set there.
Rebecca Zanetti’s Dark Protectors series is my favorite and is generally set in Colorado, though the action jumps around some. This paranormal series has a different take on the various races (vampires, weres, witches, etc.), great alpha heroes, and really interesting heroines.
I’ve read many Zanetti series but not that one. Thanks for sharing Janie.
