Sunday Post – 24 March 2024 @kimbacaffeinate @readingreality

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar. White Trash Zombie Got Her Groove Back ends tonight!

Sunday, we woke early and got on the road on schedule to go home.  We got home and it was a rush to get laundry going and get things in place.  I tried to get to Sunday post visiting and deal with other emails.   There was so much to do I was a little scattered.

Monday,  after a good night’s sleep it’s time to dig in and get things back in shape. I got things accomplished but I felt like I was slow motion.  Lulu and I got in a walk before dinner.  My 96 yo Mom had a small stroke and went to the hospital.  She seems fine and they are watching her at the hospital for a day or two.

Tuesday, I’m missing things to make the usual breakfasts I eat so I’ll have to shop today. I got thru my Feedly and took stock of the FS Poster status and sent them a new message. Mailpoet did not send today.  It’s the coldest day of the week with it being about 47F / 8C for walking with Abby and Lulu. My daughter was able to go with us and it wasn’t as bad as I expected because the wind wasn’t too strong. I made the new menu plan and created a shopping list. I worked on getting my daughter set up with a new PCP we both like and her records transferred there.   Since I was going out anyway I decided to get the pizza specials and shop at Aldi.  I updated the linkys for the Library Love and COYER for the first half of the month reads.

Wednesday,  today is the warmest day of the week.  I did my Feedly and other email stuff.  Then had a pleasant walk with Abby and Lulu.  I scanned and uploaded all my daughter’s medical records, medical records release forms and diagnosis to our new PCP.  I managed to mow the whole lawn and spray all the driveway cracks for weeds.  Next I dropped my daughter at the chiro while I took an Amazon item for return.  I did some review setups. The garden plants and flowers are flourishing in the warmth and the rain later in the week will help them.

Thursday, I continue to learn more about how FS Poster works. And to some extent how social media has rules about their posts.  So I was able to get FS Poster to work with Threads.  I walked Abby and Lulu; the day was cooler. I made some changes so I could autoshare posts to BlueSky through dlvr.it.  Buffer has a way to cross post everything from Mastodon or Twitter to BlueSky even though it is not one of the socials their main application uses, but through Apple Shortcuts app.  BUT you must create the posts on your phone.

Friday, today will be a busy one.  All the autoshares worked, including the new setup for BlueSky!  Also Mailpoet worked and did the weekly post notification for the first time since January.  It included 30 posts which must be the maximum it accommodates.  We have an extra day of walking Abby, then an appt at the Gastro specialist.  Afterwards since we were right next to Wegmans we shopped there, then Trader Joes.  We tried to go to the Great Asia Market but traffic was bad with rain and it closed at 6. We got there a few minutes late. But the one closer to our house is open until 7pm so I got my bean sprouts. The Asian markets have the best veggies. Mom got to her home from the hospital.

Saturday, I’m a little tired and headachy today but still doing my tasks.  I did the usual Feedly and checking to see that things were autoshared as I expected.  Mailpoet did not send the post notification emails today.  I’ve been sharing friends’ posts to Mastodon and BlueSky this week.  I wrote a review.  My daughter and I walked Lulu on a medium route and chatted with some neighbors.

Things I Learned This Week:

OK  if I’m asking for help, I’m also going to share the cool things I learn. You may already know them but hopefully it will help someone.

I learned a lot more about FS Poster.  It’s working well except for Threads which is inconsistent.  The connections need to be watched as they may need updates from time to time.  I love how the Revive Old Posts is working.  Direct share works but I have to have the graphic in my database so I tend to use Buffer for that more often since with Buffer I can drag and drop any image (s). FS Poster autoshares to Mastodon, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Threads.

dlvr.it is the easiest and I’m using it to autoshare posts to Instagram and BlueSky.

IFTTT also has apps I use to autoshare to Mastodon and Facebook.

Buffer I have connected to Mastodon, Facebook and Instagram  to share deals and sales.

There’s duplicates in the autoshares since there are still some inconsistencies with FS Poster.

Mailpoet worked 5 out of 7 days this last week after not working since January 26 so I am just waiting to see for now.

I have finished reading my series in a month:

Callahan & McClane by Kendra Elliot

Vanished

Bridged

Spiraled

Targeted

It connects into the same world as Columbia River and Mercy Kilpatrick but these are the Mason & Ava books. They are an earlier time period than the other two series.  I just did short Goodreads reviews. It was good to use my KU subscription and these include audio.

This is the Read-along for the last half of 2024 starting in July.  The announcement will be June 2.  Tantor has offered a full set of audios as a Grand prize.  The author has also offered signed paperbooks as prizes. Both prizes will be open Internationally.

We will be reading one book a month.   Please comment or email me at BooksMyHeart@gmail.com if you are willing to join us and if you would provide a review for a post. I need a couple more volunteers.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by  Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

My thanks to Penguin Audio.

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

I purchased these 2 in the Audible 2-1 sale.

I bought this one for $1.99 since I already had the Kindle version.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

  1. So sorry to hear about your mom, Anne. I’m glad she’s out of the hospital and back at her home. I wish I had a Trader Joe’s a little closer. I’m surprised they haven’t opened a location on this side of the bridge. They have some specific items I really like but usually it’s not worth the drive.

  2. It’s nice to hear your mom is back home; hospital stays stink. We finally have a Trader Joe’s, and you know I have never been to it, lol! Happy Sunday, Anne 🤗

    • Thank you Tammy. I try to get ahead before I go but there’s still things to do even if you are only gone a couple days. Mom is doing well. I was still checking things and trying a few things this week but the sharing apps are doing well. I don’t know what I will do with all the time I was spending on that – oh yes I still need to do my taxes. lol and the yard work will take more time soon.

  3. Wishing your mom well as she recovers at home and glad you got in a good trip and resettled at home. The bean sprouts are so blah in our local shop and the nearest market isn’t all that close so I make do. Glad you got in some good walks and yay for getting a better handle on your social media shares.
I need to finish that Kendall Elliot series. I started it quite a while back, but got distracted.

    Have a good week, Anne!

  4. Sorry your mom had a small stroke! I know that has to be stressful for you because you are in a different state. Now that you have worked out most of the kinks with FS poster (you and Ashley), I might give it a try!!

    • Thanks Samantha. Feel free to email me if you have questions. Sometimes it is the simplest thing and I just didn’t see it until I got in the right direction. They provide 6 months free support with the purchase but I paid extra for 12 months. I am getting everything done in 5 months though. Also, the first thing is to get your accounts set up in FS Poster. Ashley’s been through it with me so she knows how to set things up like Cron Jobs for this plugin. If you only have 2 socials though, I’d use the free version of dlvr.it. It’s easy and it’s been flawless. But really it depends on what you really want to do, that’s why I use so many apps and plugins to get what I want automatically without my effort after setup.

  5. I’m glad your mom is doing well after that. I hope that she stays in good health. I haven’t tried to auto post anything but the only social media I use is Twitter and FB so I just add stuff manually to them.

  6. I’m glad your mom got to go home. The elderly (and kids) always look so tiny in hospital beds. I remember having to constantly rearrange pillows so that first my dad and then my Mom were sitting up comfortably. They were always listing to one side or another and neither strong enough to reposition themselves. They need to come up with some kind of a wedge pillow or SOMETHING for hospital beds before it’s *MY* time to be in one because I don’t have any family members to reposition me all day long. LOL

  7. I hope your mom is doing well and recovering. I forget – where does she live? My week was pretty good. And I had a pretty relaxing weekend. I’m looking forward to my son being home later this week.

  8. Sorry to hear your mom had a stroke! Glad it wasn’t a bad one, though. Your flowers are so pretty! I would like to plant Iris as some point. So nice that you a Trader Joe’s close. The nearest to me is about 40 minutes away.

  9. I’m so sorry to hear about your mom but glad she’s doing well and hopefully she’s home from the hospital now. What beautiful flowers! I love bulb plants and really need to go on a planting spree this fall. I hope you’re having a wonderful week.
