The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.

I can’t believe it’s the end of March already.  I’ll do my month recap next week.

Sunday, I did the usual Feedly and blog visiting. Everything worked except Threads.  This will be the coldest day of the week.  My daughter is trying to walk every day to help with her constipation so she went with Lulu and me right after noon. I figured out why Instagram was getting 3 of the same autoshare.  Somehow I added it into dlvr.it twice (when adding BlueSky) so that is fixed.  I did menu planning, and April reading plans.  I worked on shopping lists. I made a batch of food for Lulu with sweet potatoes instead of rice because she seems to like them.  My brother called late to talk about the unpleasant, inevitable option on DNR, hospice care and funerals.  Mom is fine now, just very tired. She lost maybe only 10% of her abilities or less.

Monday, I was up late and then Lulu barked early. So I’m tired. I had the usual plus the Read-along giveaway stuff. I got some new ARCs and setup posts for them. I am thinking about whether we go to visit Mom but in addition to other commitments, my daughter is feeling very poorly right now. We are waiting for prior approval of the next medicine which is $700 unless insurance agrees to help. I got a call from Blue Cross that it’s approved. I called the pharmacy to let them know and to give them the coupon codes to reduce the cost to $30.  My daughter and I went to pick up her Rx but it wasn’t quite ready so I went to pick a few items.

Tuesday, a really busy day and I’m slow as molasses.  The weather is cloudy, so cooler than I expected.  I walked with Lulu and Abby.  I changed my Facebook password so I had to redo a few of my apps and FS Poster setup for the account. I took my daughter to meet with her new PCP (who we used to see when we lived in Cary).  She had some good suggestions which I think will be a help with a followup in few months.  So far, the new RX hasn’t worked and she still has horrible stomach pain.  We stopped for a Sam’s Club pickup and a Walmart pickup on the way home.  I had all that to put away.  I made a batch of food for Lulu and our dinner. I forgot to go back and finish my Feedly visits and to play Wordle today.

Wednesday, a rainy day at home which is great for me.  I did the visiting. FS Poster to Threads worked all day yesterday but isn’t today. I learned about filtering to only autoshare to some socials based on conditions.  I let Abby out and will walk her and Lulu when the rain stops.  I wrote a review.  I worked on my Series on Saturday posts. We watched Betty! (Will Trent)

Thursday, I thought I would have to do like yesterday and let Abby out and do the walk later but the rain let up just in time to do our walk at the normal time.   My high quality pans I purchased in 1998 are starting to fall apart.  Some of this is because I cook much more regularly with them these days. I also really want a cordless stick vacuum. I enjoy all my other cordless tools.  As is my style, I asked some others their opinions.   I read Consumer reports and other reviews on the products.  I ended up doing something very different than my initial ideas.  The best reviewed stick vacuums were Sharp and Dyson.  My current corded vacuum is a Dyson I bought in 2011 and I’ve replaced one part. It works fine but it’s so heavy for small touchups and certain areas.  None of them seem to have very reliable batteries.  I ended up ordering an older V8 instead of the newest V15 as it was less expensive, lighter weight and actually had better reviews.    I put together a BJs order for pickup tomorrow.

Friday, it was an extra day to walk with Abby. The weather is sunny but a bit windy, so a little cool.  My daughter is still feeling poorly but got another message from her gastro specialist to increase the medication.  She went back to sleep, so Lulu went on errands with me.  I went to Lowe’s rather than the farmer’s market because she could go with me there and they don’t allow dogs at the farmer’s market.  We picked out basil, tomato and pepper plants along with marigolds.  It’s going to be around 80 the next couple days and I hope to do more yard cleanup.  Lulu was happy to supervise everything happening.  Then we went to BJ’s which was curbside pickup.  Instead of buying a spendy set of pans,  I started with a 2 pack of ceramic fry pans from Oxo for $28.   I’m also learning that my blog ahead posts set up before I had FS Poster I need to add the accounts where I want to autoshare.  New posts default to all the accounts but things I setup last fall have to be updated.  I am doing a quick check of all my posts on a weekly basis to confirm the setups.

Saturday, I did the usual visiting but was also trying to go through all the emails with review requests that release April through August.  There are more I want for June but it is totally full.  Our neighbor brought over chocolate-covered strawberries for an Easter gift.  Then my daughter and I walked with her, Abby and Lulu.   Today is warm and beautiful 76F/ 24C.   The flowers are blooming.  The snow peas are starting to be ready (planted in September!)  The chard and lettuce are ready.

I am definitely doing COYER Chapter 2 (April-June).

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by  Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

My grateful thanks to Penguin Audio (3),   Macmillan Audio,  Berkley (2) ,  Ace,   Minotaur (2).

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

I got the Kindle deal for 99¢ and then could get the Whispersync for $3.99.  The narrator is the great Davina Porter! The ebooks are all in KU and the audios seem to be in Hoopla, so maybe I didn’t need to buy it but it’s such a great series.

I picked my First Reads book for March.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

  1. Sounds like a very busy week. I had a Dyson cordless vacuum and didn’t like it at all. The dirt compartment is so small I could barely vacuum a whole room before it shut off. And if you don’t clean the filter it won’t run. Pain in the a**! But for small jobs it should be OK. Love the greenery, I’m hoping our trees will start blooming soon. Have a good week!

  2. It’s tough when both your mother and your daughter are both ill and needing your attention. I hope your daughter’s condition improves soon – it’s an utter misery when constipation gets seriously out of hand. Glad the gardening is going well, but those temperatures are very high! Is that normal for this time of year? I hope you have a great week, Anne:)).

    • Thank you Sarah. It’s exhausting to be the healthy one sometimes. My brother sometimes wants me to bring her here. But he has his wife and daughter for backup and I have no backup. These few days the temperature is higher than usual. It will be back to 60F/40F or 16C/4C in about 5 days. I would say the normal high is closer to 20C getting closer to 25C by the end of this month. We get about 1-2 days of rain a week.

  3. We had beautiful weather at the end of the week, but cold during most of my spring break when we were in Branson. Supposed to maybe get some rain today, tomorrow for sure. I was going to mow today, because my neighbor has mowed twice and even though my front yard doesn’t look bad, I feel the peer pressure, lol. I love my Dyson. I tried buying a cordless/stick vaccuum, but soon gave up on it and just tried to use my Dyson and pull the handle out like it is meant to do. Although at times it isn’t the easiest to use that way. Thanks again for the prize in the WTZ giveaway! I get what you and your brother are dealing with. I fear my stepdad is getting further into Alzheimer’s even with his cancer issues maybe being helped. But getting my mom to accept some things is harder since she doesn’t seem to want to think that far ahead when we talk to her.

  4. Getting all the DNR stuff figured out is no fun but unfortunately necessary. I’m glad your mother is feeling better even if she’s tired. The Emily Henry and Katherine Center books both look really good. I hope you have a great week!

  5. Happy Easter, Anne!

What a busy week for you and glad you got so much done. Wishing your daughter well through all that gastro trouble. I’m starting this year’s seeds this week. Lots of goodies in the book haul. I love the Thomas and Charlotte Pitt series and that Davina Porter narrates it. 🙂

    Have a good week!

  6. Oh, you picked up the first Black Hat book – I hope you enjoy it! My daughter and I finally started watching Will Season 2. I just enjoy that show so much and Betty is adorable. We had rain all week, but this weekend has been sunny and 50s – perfect. However, they are predicting snow this week. UGH!

  7. Nice that you were able to get your daughter’s meds for less money! $700 is very expensive for a medication! Your garden is advancing quickly! I still have to keep my seedlings inside because we have a storm coming with possible snow in a few days. I’ll plant outside after it moves on. I have to drag out my garden blankets for my creeping fig and other sensitive plants *sigh*.

  8. Glad you mother did not suffer more permanent damage, although it’s still best to have those talks and make decisions beforehand. Never fun, though. The cost of prescription meds is downright criminal. Without insurance I don’t know what people do. Go without, probably!
