Sunday, a busy day with getting up early with the dogs and then taking them for their walk. Afterwards, I mowed half the lawn. Everything has to be before 10am, to keep the real feel below 100. The neighbor came to pick up her dog around noon because her flight was delayed and she didn’t get home until about 3am. Abby was happy to see her and go home. I love having her but also am glad to have things back to our normal. I’ve been busy with laundry, dishes, other cleaning. I did the visiting, and responded to some comments. I wrote a couple reviews.
Monday, I relaxed a bit this morning since I could. I wrote a few reviews and tried to get a bit ahead of schedule. There was also a lot of laundry. In the afternoon, my daughter had her PT appt and I got a few specials at Harris Teeter while she was there. When we got home, I walked Lulu. It was better this afternoon because it was so cloudy. I had pasta with a sauce of fresh tomatoes & basil again. I watered the gardens. Then we worked on packing.
Tuesday, I tried to get everything done before we left. We drove to Petersburg, VA. Lulu loves the car. I picked up an early dinner at Los Tios which is a dedicated gluten free restaurant. I went to the Spyro Gyra 50 year anniversary concert at the Beacon Theater. It was a nice small place with easy parking. I sat next to a couple who are good friends with the bass player. Jay Beckenstein is my high school / college saxophone crush. I got a little turned around with road construction on the way back to the hotel but it just gave me a few extra minutes to listen to my audiobook.
Wednesday, we were low key and didn’t get up early. We did some computer stuff. We got gas, and then ate lunch at a seafood place. For the afternoon, we relaxed in the room and I was able to catch up a bit more on my computer stuff. We looked into a few Amazon deals. For dinner, we went to our favorite restaurant in Williamsburg, even though it will be an hour+ drive each way. We had our favorite pasta with shrimp and scallops in a tomato cream sauce. We stopped at Dollar Tree for a couple items including another Peggy Panda for Lulu and something new Fernando Fox. She was enthralled.
Thursday, we woke early and got going to home. It was easy to pack up and the drive was comfortable enough. I was worried about how hot it is with the car out of electric charge but it had no problems. I unloaded quickly and took a shower. Then we both went to do some computer stuff. My daughter called her neurologist because she’s had a migraine for more than 3 days, so she has an appt for tomorrow. It’s muggy but will likely storm tonight. I’d barely started on the computer when the Internet went down. I worked for a bit using my phone as a hotspot but that was just too slow for some things. I mostly just deleted junk email. The rain did happen. We went to bed a bit early.
Friday, the Internet apparently came back just before 2am. The Mageri Read-along has begun!! We have excellent prizes so be sure to join us if you want to read the series. I took Lulu for an early walk before our appt and because it wasn’t raining but probably will later today. My daughter had rescue shots, then I picked up RX at Harris Teeter. I made a BLT for lunch with garden tomatoes. My daughter took a nap. I tried to figure out the menu and run around schedule for next week. I wrote one review, and did some setups. Blue Cross Blue Shield changed their login password requirements so I had to call to get back into our accounts. I found out there is a limit of 8 borrows a month on Hoopla! I guess this is the first time I got so many but half the month is left.
Saturday, I’m appreciating this day at home. I wrote some reviews and did some visiting. My daughter apparently woke up at 4am in pain so after she got up and ate, she went to lay down. Next week, there are 5 medical appts for my daughter. The weather will be about 85 F / 30C with scattered rain. That’s about 10 degrees cooler but it will be somewhat muggy I think. Next Saturday is my Mom’s 97th birthday.
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):
Thank you so much to Penny Reid, Recorded Books, Brilliance Audio, Tantor Audio.

NONE.
Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.
I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.
I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

Good luck at all of your appointments! Wyatt’s sometimes fall that way, all together. Your meals sound good for hot days!
Thank you Erin. It will be a tough week with all the running. I love having garden food.
Sounds like a nice trip into VA. That’s good things are getting back to normal. I’ve dogsat 2 dogs for my parents and it’s alot of work. Happy reading, the mistletoe books look fun. Happy birthday to your mom.
Thank you Naida. The only reason dog sitting is more work is because we want them to be comfortable and feel loved so we give them extra attention because we know they are missing their regular people and routines.
Wow, Spyo Gyra! I haven’t heard that name in years. I love that you take Lulu with you everywhere. We’ve had muggy weather too plus some smoke in the air from a nearby fire (not threatening us luckily). I’m headed to San Diego where the weather is in the 70s, I can’t wait😁 Have a good week, Anne.
Thanks Tammy. Where we go, Lulu goes. I was always a big fan of bands with horns. Enjoy San Diego! ComicCon?
Ugh, glad you at least had a nice trip since it sounds like this coming week will be your poor daughter dealing with doctors again. I love that Lulu travels so well! I enjoyed having the puppy this week, but was also glad when he went home and things got to be normal again. I got one of the same freebies you did this week. Hope things go well for your daughter this week, and that your temps cool down like ours did this past week!
Thank you Lisa. After all the rain, I need to mow the lawn on a day that’s not too hot. Early in the morning although it can be wet then. We may have a different neighbor’s dog for 4 days this weekend now. No rest for the wicked they say.
good luck with all the doctor appointments! Enjoy the read along!
Thank you Samantha. It may be an exhausting schedule this week.
Sweet Lulu💜 Hope your daughter feels better soon!
I couldn’t resist that Lucinda Berry book either. Happy reading!
Thanks Jonetta. I don’t like the ending of the Lucinda Berry book.
I am so sorry that your daughter has had a migraine once more Anne. I hope she feels better now!
Thank you Sophie. It just barely stops and it is another one. I feel badly for her.
I just got done pet sitting some rats which I enjoy doing, but, I feel the same as you do with Abbie when its time for them to go home. 🙂 Ugh, those high temps are no fun. I do my walks, weeding and watering before the sun gets very high in the sky around here, too. Fun trip for you. Sounds like you got to a lot of your reviews and way to go maxing out on your Hoopla borrows. I’m on my eighth borrow this week, too. 🙂 Hope your daughter gets some relief from the migraine and the pain soon.
Have a good week, Anne!
Thank you Sophia. I need to fit in mowing this week somehow. It’s like a 70% chance of rain every day but at least it’s not an all day rain, and often is late afternoon or at night. I’m keeping up on my reviews pretty well and even though it’s more running around I may be able to combine audiobooks with that.
If I had a doggie I would definitely feel comfortable leaving her in your good care.
Sounds like a nice little getaway trip you had! Now time to gear up for all those medical appointments!
Hope your mom has a great birthday on Saturday.
Thanks Jinjer. We are enjoying very short getaways for now. Or even local events.
Good luck with all those medical appointments. I hope everything goes well. Have a great week!
Thank you Yvonne. I hope we can figure out something to help her.
I’m glad you were able to get away for a few days Anne! Good luck with all your daughter’s appointments and have a good week.
Thank you Jodie. I hope we get some better options for her to feel less pain.
I’m glad you and your daughter (and Lulu) had a fun and safe trip to Williamsburg. I hope your daughter’s neurology appointment goes well. I probably need to get into one as well. I’ve been dealing with migraines a lot lately. I feel like it’s almost my new normal. Anyway, have a great week!
Thank you. She has to deal with so much and the migraines are just constant right now.
That shrimp and scallop pasta in tomato cream sauce sounds divine! I don’t mind a drive to get to a favorite restaurant either. Sounds like you had a nice trip! I’m sorry to hear your daughter is having migraine issues again! 5 medical appointments is a lot! You’re going to have a busy week! I just downloaded that Nora Roberts freebie so thanks for listing it here. I planted my tomatoes a month late so they’re green on the vine right now. Soon. My basil is growing well, though. I’ll be making homemade pasta once the tomatoes are ripe. Can’t wait!
Thanks Rachel. We do have our favorite places. That one is nice because it’s close enough to visit every year or two. The tomatoes and basil are doing fair in the extreme heat here but everything else was kind of like it was on hold. Now that we’ve had some rain they are going better. 5 medical appts and now it’s likely she will need the DHE infusions again, which is 3 days of Iv infusions for 3-4 hours. That will take a chunk out of the week.
A busy week! I hope all the appts go smoothly and in between rain bursts. Happy early birthday to your mom! We’re going to GalaxyCon on Saturday so we’ll be in your neck of the woods. Well, closer than we usually are here between Burlington and Greensboro. lol
Thank you Carol. It’s only Monday and I’m already tired. That’s cool about GalaxyCon. I don’t go to much of that sort of things but I’ve met Ron Perlman and Danny Trejo before because Sons of Anarchy. Charlie was at GalaxyCon Richmond and I went in March. There’s some other people it would be interesting to meet there, too. Who are you excited to see? Have fun!
That’s cool! I’ve never watched the show, but it’s on my list. I’ve been to several Star Trek Conventions and even a Star Trek cruise. All fun, but a couple of decades ago now. lol I’m hoping to see James Marsters since I’m a huge Spike fan and I enjoy his narration of the Dresden Files. I think William Shatner will also be there. I can’t remember.
James Marsters would be on my on my list for the same reasons. I’ve “seen” Shatner from afar but never waited in line to meet him. I love the original Star Trek so much though.
Ugh such a hot summer!!!
yes, half of the worst months are past. Hopefully it will be more normal soon.
That’s a lot of appointments next week. Sounds like you had a nice trip though and if Lulu is half as excited as Apollo and Zekey when they get new toys, I bet she was thrilled. She is so adorable in the pics. I need to post new Zekey pics this coming week as he will be one in August. I can’t believe it has gone so fast. I am pretty sure I already have a copy of By a Silver Thread but it looks really good so I need to locate it on my Kindle. Hope you and your daughter (and Lulu as well) have a great week!
Thank you Barb. It will be a busy week. Tomorrow is empty unless another appt happens. I’m trying to pace myself for the schedule. Lulu is just so cute. She is also eager to please us so she’s easy to have in our lives.
Sounds like last week was a good one, other than your daughter’s migraine. That’s great you got to go to the small concert. I hope the doctor appointments are going smoothly this week.
Thank you Jen. I wish I could have gone with you this week to see Kevin Hearne. I knew it would be too much to do 2 trips in 2 weeks. Well, the medical appts got cancelled because she is in such bad shape she can’t tolerate them. She is having IV infusions next M/Tu/W. It makes a nice quiet week for me and the weekend will be north wind and cooler so I can finally do some yard work. I hope they come up with a solution for her frequent and ongoing pain.
I need to do better with my Thrifty Thursday books – I have a few waiting for me lol!!!
Thanks for sharing! Have a blessed day!!!
I have lots I want to read!
My Hoopla limit is 5 and I hit it pretty much every month! It’s always fun to go to a favorite restaurant – even if it is a bit of a trek. Hope your meal was fantastic. Lulu looks adorable!
Thank you Katherine. It was a shock. I don’t think I have every hit the limit before. There are very few they will let me put on regular hold either. But I have multiple libraries. Only one with Hoopla though. yes Lulu IS adorable.
