The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.

Sunday, I had a nice morning after letting the dogs out, reading blogs and Sunday posts. By mid-afternoon, we got a downpour. I wrote a review and did some planning for July reading. There’s too many variables to nail it down completely yet.  I made a yummy dinner with salmon, and chard and beets from the garden.  I researched the measurements of humidity and dew point and what they mean.  Dew point is the thing that makes it uncomfortable more than humidity. I mean the humidity can be low and yet if the dew point is near the actual temperature it is really unpleasant. Right now, they are both bad here.   There were thunderstorms around dinner.

Monday, Lulu barked before the alarm went off.  I took the dogs out and they both pooped.  They both ran around the yard a bit too. We trimmed Lulu’s nails.  I was worried about thunderstorms. So the neighbor and my daughter went to the Dems get together while I stayed with Lulu, Marley and Abbey.   Then of course, it didn’t really rain or thunder much so I could have gone.

Tuesday, I woke up early and got everything ready before the neighbors picked up Marley. I did some of the usual computer stuff. I went out at 10 and mowed the lawn and sprayed the weed killer on the cracks in the driveway.  After a second shower, we got ready to go to the dentist and errands.  After the dentist, we stopped at Aldi, Trader Joes, Papa Murphy’s Pizza and Harris Teeter.   Then I remembered tomorrow is recycle day, so I needed to get all the garbage / recycle / yard waste out.  Recycle is only every other week and mostly that’s how often I put everything out. We walked at 6pm so even though hot, it felt ok. I managed to use a dental tool to scrape the plaque off Lulu’s teeth and they look great.  She may not love it, or tooth brushing or toenail clipping but she bears it stoically.

Wednesday, Lulu woke me early.  The morning was nice and I sprayed Deer Repel and a natural insecticide in the garden. I burnt the roof of my mouth on hot tea and switched over to cold foods. I handled a bunch of chores and enjoyed the being home today. My daughter worked on her paper; she only has a week of class remaining.  We walked Lulu at dinnertime to avoid the hottest part of the day. I found a sweater pattern after a bit of searching that I made for a friend’s little boy and I’m going to make it for my nephew. My front garden has chrysanthemum and monarda (bee balm) along with two kinds of asters blooming.

Thursday,  my daughter was up early so we walked Lulu in the morning. It was nice. Hard to believe it will be intolerable all afternoon.  I wrote a review. My daughter was able to make an appt for this afternoon with the chiropractor for some possible TMJ help since the PT is not available for 3 weeks! (A different PT than the one who doesn’t take our insurance who treats EDS)  The treatment didn’t seem as immediately effective as what the PT did last week.  My daughter ate lunch when we got back, and we watched some Project Runway.  My daughter went with the neighbor to the bar’s game night.  I was happy to start on my new knitting project while listening to an audio. They had fun but it wasn’t organized so they just played some games they had.

Friday, I slept until I woke which was almost 9 which is late.  And it’s a gorgeous day about 80F / 27C  with low humidity. I’m indoors mostly though visiting blogs, setting up posts,  writing reviews, planning, and doing other computer tasks.  The roof of my mouth is much better.  I went to bed early but started reading and read the entire book.

Saturday,  I woke up late after reading until the middle of the night.  I reworked my pattern for the sweater for my grand nephew as I realized I reversed the MC and CC.  I’m drinking hot tea after it cools to lukewarm again. I wrote some reviews. I created a new poll for the 2026 Read-along for Facebook for users who don’t use Discord. I worked on the menu plan thinking about how hot it will be this week. We walked Lulu late after dinner.

The upcoming week will be HOT and especially Monday-Wednesday with temps around 100F/ 38C with the real feel closer to 110F / 43C.  Totally not my weather and we may stay inside more than usual.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by  Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

A special thanks to Thomas & Mercer,  Penguin Audio.

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

none.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

Chirp Friday freebies:

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

  1. Yep, I got too many freebies this week! Sounds like it was a nice week for you mostly. I need to spray some weed killer on some places in my yard. But some of it is where my dogs go outside so I don’t want anything that would hurt them. I’ve heard soapy water might work? I don’t know. Need to figure something out. I also need to get a dentist appointment set up, but am waiting till July to be on my new year for insurance and have some of that health care saving account money to spend. Hope you have a nice week!

  2. You had a pretty busy week, but I’m glad a lot of it was quiet things around the house and neighborhood, too. I had the epiphany about the difference between humidity and dew point last year so I made sure I paid attention to that dew point when I check my weather app now.
I had quite the freebie haul this week, too, with that one-day Stuff Your E-Reader and a couple Chirp freebies.

    Have a good week, Anne!

  3. On days that I’m ready for a downpour and think the clouds look like thunderstorms, we might get a few minutes of rain. Then when the clouds don’t look like they will likely produce rain, it pours.

  4. Oof that sounds like awful weather! Best wishes with that — it just cooled down here and it’s very pleasant, thankfully (it didn’t got as hot as you have it, but of course in the UK we don’t typically have air conditioning or houses that are good at cooling down, so it’s hard to compared).

  5. Oh my goodness – that heat is brutal! I hope you can keep cool in the coming week, Anne. Thank goodness for books!

  6. It sounds like a pretty good week!! We are staying inside today and tomorrow to ride out the rest of the heat wave here. Not as bad as you all, but still pretty horrible. I think the feels like temp got up 104 yesterday. Two more days of it here and we will be out of it thank goodness.

  7. Anne I was salivating just reading about your salmon and beet! We have a heatwave her and no AC so that’s tricky! Have a great week 😉

  8. We’ve had a lot of rumbling that doesn’t turn out to be much of anything lately. She Didn’t See It Coming is on my TBR. I’ve heard great things about the author and this one really appeals to me. Have a great week!

  9. It’s hot for us, too. I’m staying inside for the most part. I get my walks in early to avoid the hot sun. I don’t like iced tea, so I brew my hot tea strong and add a few ice cubes to cool it just enough to drink. I hope you are staying cool.

  10. It’s beastly hot out there. I mean, I haven’t been out much since I’ve been sick, but… it’s nasty. It’s so hot here that yesterday the military base where my husband works told the sailors not to do any PT outside. And the NWS keeps issuing Extreme Heat Warnings. Fun times. Thank goodness I have treadmill I can use (once I’m up to moving around again.)

I’m impressed that Lulu lets you scrape and brush her teeth. What a good girl!
