The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.
Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar. Remember the One Fell Sweep chat today.
Sunday began well with me separating the dogs and they ate their own food. Then we went outside again and they both pooped. Then I could relax a bit and get to some blog visiting and other tasks. We walked Lulu and Marley and fed them. Then the neighbor came to get Marley.
Monday, I started by going to get my hair trimmed right after I got up. I dropped off my Amazon returns. I remembered to cancel my Apple TV+ now that we have watched all of Murderbot. I got orders set for Walmart and BJs for tomorrow. I had a late afternoon Zoom with my brother and a guy who is a friend of a friend here about solar. It was really interesting. I was surprised to learn about the current rebates available in North Carolina. We walked Lulu. Then we started listening to Artificial Condition while fixing and eating dinner. We finished late. I noticed about 4am the lights were still on in the family room and heard my daughter putting Lulu to bed. Apparently the thunder scared her, so Lulu got to sleep with my daughter for part of the night.
Tuesday, Lulu barked and woke me but only 5 minutes before the alarm was set to go off. Thunder followed each of her barks. I got going quickly to calm her. I did the usual visiting and setting up posts for new ARCs. I did a little research. Then we set off for my daughter’s PT appt (for EDS). On the way back, we picked up an order at Walmart, and one at BJs. After putting everything away, I was glad to be home and have a late lunch. I had some time for additional research, a post setup, and loading audios to my phone. I read through all the solar information Jonathan sent from our Zoom meeting yesterday.
Wednesday, I woke up early so I lollygagged. I did a bit of visiting. Then we left to go to my daughter’s PT (for TMJ) appt. I stopped at Aldi for a couple items on the way back. I made a batch of Lulu food and we walked her before dinner. We went by one house and Abbey was in the window by the door barking, the next house Birdie was in the window by the door barking. We were two for two! The neighbor and Abbey came out, caught up and joined us for the walk.
Thursday, I went down the rabbit hole researching EDS and doctors who treat it in North Carolina. I also prepared for Lulu’s checkup this afternoon. My daughter had a nutrition appt, then we went to the vet. I like this vet better but it turns out they are also quite a bit more expensive on a few things.
Friday, I harvested more carrots from the garden. I got to work on my long list of things to do. I tried to get an appt with an EDS doctor for my daughter that takes our insurance but she’s not accepting new patients. I spent quite a bit of time trying to find a time when it wouldn’t be dark outside and the heat index would be below 90F and not raining. I don’t think I ever found it, for mowing the lawn again. Late afternoon, I met up online with my brother and the solar guy to talk final numbers. I sent him photos of the breaker panel and the outside of the house for his site survey. I still need to go up in the attic to take a few photos there. We walked Lulu, still hot at 7pm.
Saturday, I decided I had to go out first thing even though the heat index was already over 90. I took Lulu out and fed her. Then went out to mow the backyard lawn, pull a few weeds and put the compost into the area where the beets were. Then I put up the cattle panel cage and planted zucchini. I think I’ll need to do first thing in the morning yard work over the next month when the weather is so hot. The tomatoes and green beans are still in process. But we are eating peppers. I did some post setups, edits and wrote some reviews, as well as visiting and commenting. We walked Lulu, then ate before the storm. When we got upstairs after dinner I needed to check something in the attic. After that, we just sat down to edit my daughter’s paper and the power went out. So I’m finishing this through the mobile hotspot on my phone. The week ahead looks hot with late afternoon storms.
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):
My huge thanks to Kensington Books, Minotaur Books, Thomas & Mercer, Macmillan Audio, Harlequin Audio,
(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)
None.
Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.
Chirp Friday Freebies:
I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.
I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

Good luck with the heat and the storms. We had a brief rain storm here a few days ago but it wasn’t enough for me, we just don’t get much rain and I love it. It will be interesting to see how the solar power works out! Have a good week😁
Thanks Tammy. Even with the rain most days either it is not enough or the heat is so much some of the plants, the basil isn’t doing well.
Heat and storms go nearly hand in hand. We can’t seem to have sun here without getting a storm soon after. Anyway have a great week Anne!
Thanks Sophie. Stay cool.
A very nice week. Our weather has been quit nice. I’ve been listen to audiobooks and going for lots of walks.
Have a wonderful week.
Thank you Angela. We’ve been doing the walks but it’s generally close to 100. But I have plenty I can do inside too. Like reading. 🙂
Uhh 100 would not be comfortable to walk in. Have to make those walks early morning or late evening. ^_^
Stay cool and happy reading!
I was checking for tonight and at 6pm the feel is 103 and at 7pm it is 100. We will probably walk about 6:30 though. The humidity is down slightly at least. We move our walk depending on the heat and whether it is going to rain.
WOW that hot at that time. Ooo yucky! ^_^
Sweet Lulu💜
I’m hoping to get Out of the Shadows, too. Fingers crossed 🤞🏽 Have a great week!
Thanks Jonetta. Lulu is happy getting in her walks and naps and homemade food. I’ve had so many great reads – this week was full of 5 hearts.
Yeah, its hard to avoid the heat even really early or late here, too. We got one good low moisture index day and I took advantage and was outside nearly all day. Funny about the dogs seeing you from the window on your way by. That’s great about the rebate in NC to get solar. They have one here, too.
I was pleasantly surprised to spot a Nora Roberts freebie this week.
Have a good week, Anne!
yes it’s a struggle. The walking isn’t so bad but the yard work can be brutal. The wind turned to the north today so the next 2 days will be slightly better. I know I was shocked for the Nora. It must be in KU. They didn’t have a rebate before when I looked at solar, only a tax credit, now there is both.
Good for you for looking into solar! We might consider it, but probably not for this house — both because of the tall trees bordering the property on all sides, and because we don’t know how much longer we’ll be here.
It has been hot and sticky all week, except when it has been pouring. I’m so ready for summer to be over, and there are still months to go.
You are always so busy! I love hearing about Lulu and the neighbor dogs. And I hope you’re able to find a good EDS doctor for your daughter.
Have a good week, and I hope the heat and humidity let up soon. Unfortunately, it looks like we’re in for higher temperatures, not lower. Thank goodness for AC.
Thanks Kara. I think the hot and sticky is here to stay until the end of August. But we are getting a north wind the next 2 days so the humidity will be down a little. I’m the alpha dog in the neighborhood lol.
Sounds like a busy week. I hope you find a doctor for your daughter soon.
We are having a mostly lovely summer, with the really hot days usually limited to one a week or so. I even went to the beach yesterday. Today I read my book on my front porch. I’m finally caught up on things, and now I just need to keep on top of my to do list. I also have some work to finish on my work grant.
It feels great to finish things or be caught up. I’ve done a better job of being at least a week ahead on reviews and it is much more pleasant. Although then I have a tendency to squeeze in some library books or books I own and get behind again. Stay cool!
This heat makes doing anything outside such a chore. And dangerous. Stay hydrated! I haven’t mown the lawn in over a week. I have a new mower but haven’t fired it up yet because of the heat and the rain. That will be on the list this week. I’ll have to stay updated on your solar project. I’ve taken down several trees and even though I still live in the woods, the house gets a good amount of sun during the day. That may be a next year project. I see we both picked up “Life in the North.” I hope it’s a good one!
Carol, All the energy credits and also rebates from Duke Energy expire this year because of the Ugly Bill. Right now I can get a tax credit plus a 30% rebate from Duke. When I looked at it a few years ago there was no rebate so it didn’t make as much sense. But I have a roof which never gets shade. I skipped the yardwork this morning and will try for Wednesday.
Living in Canada we don’t have to worry about Dr’s and whether or not they will take our insurance so I see this as something that just adds another layer of stress. Have a wonderful week ahead.
yes Canada is awesome. I’ve enjoyed traveling there more than a few times.
Yayyy for finishing Murderbot!! And for remembering to cancel your subscription. We actually got stuck with another month of Netflix because we thought we cancelled but actually hadn’t. It turned out okay because we were able to watch Building the Band and I’m loving it! I hope you do enjoy it too if you watch it!
Thanks for sharing that show with me. It sounds worth a try.
I just got Apple TV. I should try Murderbot. It sounds like something I would like. Our storms finally stopped. Now we just have hot and humid weather. I stay mostly indoors. I hope you have a great week.
Thanks Yvonne. I think we are having mostly hot and humid for the next month too. But that doesn’t mean the garden doesn’t need some water. I highly recommend Murderbot. His social anxiety is precious. The episodes are very short, just 30 minutes. Very funny.
I’m sorry finding a doctor that specializes in EDS is so difficult. My step-daughter was just diagnosed (she’s 35). It explains so much of her mysterious health issues over the years. Looks like some great reading in your future! I managed only two freebies in the last couple of weeks. Murderbot was great, wasn’t it?
Thank you Olivia. I’ve been reading more about EDS and realized it really explains all her conditions because they are all part of EDS. I wonder why more doctors didn’t put it together but likely even though it was mentioned to me in 2017 there isn’t really treatment other than treating all the symptoms. We’ve been doing that but new ones keep appearing. I love Murderbot!
Still haven’t watched Murderbot… I really should, while I can borrow my parents’ Apple TV subscription, ahaha.
Hope you enjoy your new books!
Thanks Nicky. You really should watch Murderbot and the episodes are very short just 30 minutes.
