Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.

Sunday, we are in Peoria waiting for a car part. Today I am turning in the rental car.  We ate lunch at a great place which was dedicated gluten free and a non-profit, then we plan to go to the zoo. My daughter enjoyed feeding the giraffe.   I did a Walmart pickup order for a few things. We moved over the car things to my ex’s Prius which we will drive for the next 2 days.  He grilled out steaks, potatoes, and salad with brownies for dessert.  Then he had presents for my daughter as her birthday was early in June.  She also went through boxes of stuff he had for her.

Monday,  I didn’t sleep well because I had too many questions without answers.  Today was to be my stay in the room day. I read my book, wrote my review. Lulu slept.  My ex took my daughter to the thrift stores she wanted to see.  I did get some answers. The part was to be shipped overnight this time, which means it would arrive by 10am.  But if it was shipped Friday it would have been here today. The parts warehouse was not open today. So my guess is it won’t be here tomorrow as they expect but on Wednesday.  And that only helps if it is the right part.  We went to dinner with my ex, his sister at a Vietnamese restaurant we like here.

Tuesday,  I woke feeling good, took Lulu out to a nice morning.  My daughter and I both are doing some computer work this morning.  The part arrived and it is the right part! The warehouse was closed Friday and open Monday.  Now to see if it is fixed.  We should know mid-day. It was fixed and we packed up and left town by 2 pm.  Then it was lots of driving, with gas in Normal IL ($3.65) and Greenwood IN($2.69)reaching a hotel about 9;45pm.

Wednesday, it’s a nice hotel but we had to pack up and leave as early as we could.  We weren’t as early as I would have liked. It was a long day in the car, more gas in Louisville KY ($3.09), Southpoint OH ($3.36) and Winston-Salem . There was rain off and on, sometimes heavy.  We ate a place we loved on the way that is dedicated gluten-free.  Even with lunch and dinner as takeout, we got home at almost 10pm.  Lulu fell asleep in the car for the first time evce!

Thursday, I pulled weeds when I let Lulu out.  We have tomatoes, chard, beets and peppers ready to eat.   I had plenty to do with putting things away, running the dishwasher, washer/dryer, gathering up garbage and recycle.  The neighbor brought over the mail, We got our Amazon order.  I wrote reviews, set up some others.  Even with all the fried food, junk food, desserts, etc I only gained one pound.  It is great to be home.

Friday,  we got out the door early for our pre checkup blood work.  On the way home, we stopped at the farmer’s market for local grown lettuce, peaches and sweet corn.  Then we picked up my daughter’s RX at Harris Teeter along with sushi, Swiss chard, shallots, and cottage cheese.  Now it’s on to the catchup on things. I wasn’t feeling very energetic.  There was a quick deluge and then we were able to walk Lulu with very nice cooler temps.

Saturday,  I am still in slowmo, trying to catch up with everything. I did the menu plan for the week.   I got a Walmart order for a few things.  I still haven’t done all my Sunday visiting from last week. I hate that.  I also need to write some thank you notes and send memorial cards to some relatives who weren’t able to attend the funeral.  The weather continues to be HOT.

Many thanks to Gallery Books,  Tanto Audio.

I purchased these for $4 each on Chirp.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

Chirp Friday freebies:

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

  1. Glad you finally got your car part and got it fixed so you could head home. It’s always nice to get home after a long trip, especially when it was longer than you’d expected! I love that Lulu fell asleep in the car. My two aren’t in the car for very long really, but neither really has ever fallen asleep, except for after a couple of “Eridox parties” where they got to play with a bunch of other dogs that are from Argyle’s breeder. Anyway, glad you’re home and now you can start feeling caught up! Here’s hoping you get to have a nice peaceful week at home.

  2. Glad the road trip, funeral, and all the delightful things to see ended with you home, safe and sound. I’m so glad the car was eventually fixed so you could get home with no waiting. Ah, yes, the post-trip catch up time.

    Have a good week, Anne!

  3. Rachel @Wav

Sounds like a nice trip even with the car issues. Wow, you got some good gas prices! It’s around $5.50 for super here in California! We have a lot of tomatoes but they’re not ripe yet. I’ve been getting zucchini, summer squash, green onions, green chili peppers, basil, rosemary and oregano from the garden. Onions, shallots, carrots and garlic aren’t there yet.

  4. Wow! Busy week! 😯

    Your pupper is adorable. 🤗

I love the idea of a nonprofit restaurant. We have a nonprofit grocery store run by a multi-faith charitable organization. I wonder if they have ever thought about running a nonprofit restaurant? 🤔

Have a wonderful new week. ☀

  5. What a lot of worry regarding the replacement part – it’s really aggravating when you can’t fully trust when someone says a part will be there at a certain time. Very relieved it was finally sorted out. The bonus must be that you were able to find gluten-free food without too much difficulty. We’re vegans so it’s often tricky when we go away and have to plan quite carefully. Have a great week:)).

  6. You’ve had quite a trip! There is nothing better than being back home – especially a trip that’s had so many ups and downs. The Vietnamese restaurant sounds yummy and the trip to the zoo sounds fun but the best is the stay in your room and read day. I could really use one of those! I’ll have to schedule one. Have a great week!

  7. So glad you made it home. It always takes me a week to recover from traveling. I hope you are able to rest up. I had a fun weekend. My daughter and I went to a concert with friends in Boston. We were able to crash on a pullout with friends who went with us. Saturday we all had brunch together before heading home. My husband took my son his car and drove the moving van back. My son has been down there for 5 days and I’m hoping he’ll call soon and fill me in on everything.

  8. I’m glad you finally got your car fixed! It sounds like you had a good trip on the whole. But it always takes so long to catch up after a vacation, doesn’t it? I hope this week is restful and you’re able to catch up without overdoing things.

How do you like the Jodi Taylor books? I’ve been meaning to give them a try for a while.
