Sunday, since the temps are down a bit and also the humidity, I decided to do some weeding and mow the front yard this morning. I am out of shape for it. It’s sort of a slope. I had to stop every few rows and rest, or empty the bag and rest. The neighbor came over with Ada while I was weeding and mowing. Apparently she’s afraid of other dogs and cats but we will try walking her with Lulu after the Read-along chat. The chat was fun. I got the ingredients set up, so that after the walk I could make dinner rolls. Well they raised more but still not as much as I want. We had them with leftover soup for dinner.
Monday, my daughter found a necklace she wanted on facebook so we went to pick it up this morning. Since we were right next to it, I went to my garden center and they had the fall veggie plants! I was thrilled because while mine came up I probably need grow lights and maybe a different fertilizer to really do what I want. I spent time then reading my book for tomorrow. I just had trouble starting it at bedtime. I have to start, just a chapter or something in the daytime to be able to read most books at bedtime.
Tuesday, I took a break and read most of the day. My daughter went with the neighbor to pickup Ada who was spayed this morning. Then my daughter helped me with chores. I set the sprinklers for the Tuesday watering, and she went over to play games with the neighbor. They would normally go to bingo but she didn’t feel she could leave Ada. I planted my new lettuce and chard plants. I did my blog visiting and a few things between times of moving the sprinkler.
Wednesday, in the morning I did my usual visiting and emails. My daughter wanted to go to her favorite thrift store and one of our favorite restaurants. So in the early afternoon we went. I had packed up all our donations, only to find Wednesday is the only day they don’t take donations. Maybe next week. Then we went to Goji to have great Asian and Mexican food. They have a huge gluten free menu. We ordered extra so we would have leftovers to bring home. We also did a Walmart pickup on the way home. We put stuff away and walked Lulu. We saw Clover and Maggie. The weather is 80s and not too humid, so it’s pleasant. Then I came up to write a review before dinner.
Thursday, I worked on a lot of the blog and email stuff. I also sat down and read the entire short story, about half a book size of A Moveable Feast by Jennifer Ashley since I forgot about it and it will be due at the library in a couple days, then wrote a review and returned it. I wrote some other reviews, edited and scheduled some. In the background I was doing laundry and dishes, we walked Lulu after dinner because we got some heavy rain this afternoon. Tonight my daughter went over to the neighbor’s to play games again. I filed paperwork which I had sorted a couple weeks ago. But my daughter and I plan to do some quilting tomorrow so I needed to clear the tables. I have a bit more to do tomorrow morning. My filing cabinets are stuffed. I need to figure out how I can get rid of some stuff. I did find the quilt squares we will work on. I started the dryer at suppertime and when I was headed to bed I heard it running. I thought it was just the wrinkle guard thing but also decided I should go put the clean clothes in a basket so I could fold them in the morning. Well I had to stop the dryer and it was so hot I could hardly stand to touch the clothes! Obviously it had been running the whole time.
Friday, cloudy this morning. I picked some more tomatoes. I ran some tests this morning using timed dry and that seems to work perfectly so that is what I will do for now. There is so much to do. I did a lot of work on emails, lists, and prepped more paperwork for filing. There was a sale at a gluten free bakery -JPs Pastry – so we went and bought a bunch of stuff to try. I’d seen some of their items in some grocery stores. My daughter and I did get an hour of quilting in and finished one square. What seems to work best is I pin and press and she sews. We are doing a quilt kit I bought on sale at Joanns a long time ago. I like how it shows us how to build different types of squares and work with shapes. We walked Lulu. We tried JPs Hawaiian rolls with dinner and they were good.
Saturday, I didn’t get going too quickly. I ate a cinnamon roll and it was just too sweet and heavy for me and I didn’t feel very good all day. It rained in the early afternoon but cleared up later. We tried to walk with Ada but she was just wild. I know she wanted to play and is no longer scared of Lulu. I’m worried she could hurt Lulu since she is so much larger. Lulu just stood calmly next to me, even with Ada jumping towards us. Lulu seemed clear that she was safe since I would protect her or pick her up. We ended up walking without Ada and the neighbor. Ada needs training, badly. I need to sign up for canvassing in September.
Tomorrow will be ok but then we go into a week with high 90s before humidity so the real feel in the 100s. We only have one med appt out on Wednesday. Marley is joining us Thursday into the next week. She is easy and sweet except for the walking and we won’t be walking in this kind of heat. I can’t believe August is nearly finished.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.
I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.
I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

I read all types of books but my favorites are urban fantasy and romantic suspense.I like some romance and some action / adventure / mystery in everything.I like sex in my books but please, only between TWO people.Intimate conversation is equally important to the sex in a book.It lets me see the characters.The other thing I enjoy is humor.

Thank you Jonetta. I don’t know Ada’s history but she’s 11 months and very strong. She is sweet but has so much energy. But definitely training.

This last week was ok but the upcoming one looks bad extreme heat again. Ada is beautiful but I feel badly for my neighbor. She needs a sturdier owner. The neighbor is so good to her but she is a puller and jumper.

Thanks Steph. yes well I have read Marple Twelve New Mysteries which I think was the seed of this new series by Lucy Foley. Each author had a slightly different take on Marple but I really enjoyed it.
You got some good books it looks like! Also had a pretty good week. I love that you and your daughter do all the stuff together. The chat was fun last Sunday. I had to leave to take care of Dora, she needed out and with her health issues I am trying to keep on top when she has to go out so that she doesn’t have accidents in the house as much as I can prevent. We had a couple nice days this weekend, but are supposed to be hot again this week I think. Have a good week!
Well because we live together it is easy for us to do things together. Somehow we each have enough of our own space too. The house is pretty big. Older dogs need love and care. Well, all dogs. We walk Lulu every day, brush he teeth every day.
You really did have a busy, productive week! I really miss having a garden! Maybe one day when I settle down somewhere I can start another one.
Thanks Sarah. It’s what we have done here settling for awhile, so we got solar panels, built big raised garden beds. I put in perennials around the house like I enjoy.

My dog has been very happy with cooling temps, and my fingers are crossed that they don’t spike again!
yes, when it is the really hot over 100 we don’t walk. Lulu loves to walk so she doesn’t like that. The heat doesn’t seem to bother her but I’m afraid it will burn her paws.
Ada is cute! We are getting the horrid heat next week as well. The beagles don’t mind, but Ranger (the shepherd) hates it. We have to keep an eye on Luna because she basically has no fur and sunburns easily.
yes Ada is gorgeous but so strong. Please can we get some cooler fall weather after this week?
It sounds like a busy week and that quilt kit sounds interesting. I miss JoAnn’s and felt inspired by just going there! Aww Ada is cute and training will help, especially since she’s a bigger sized dog. The Mexican food sounds good. Hope you and Lulu enjoy your week!
I’ve always thought I would like the patterns and such of quilting, but the closest I’ve gotten is some paper quilt patterned scrapbook pages. Hope the weather continues to mellow out for you 🙂
I’ve never made a quilt. It sounds like a fun project to work with your daughter. I’m going to look up that Lucy Foley book. I’ve enjoyed her mysteries and I think she’d do a good job with and Agatha sort of tale.

Sounds like a good week. We went to visit my son where he lives now. It’s so weird to think that is his home. We had a nice visit. I’m not sure when we will see him again. He’s making lots of plans with friends for hikes and traveling. I’m so glad he’s so happy!

Sounds like some welcome cooler weather for you! Same here, really — it’s raining a lot, which makes laundry awkward, but we can’t complain too much. We’ve needed the rain!

That Asian-Mexican food restaurant sounds neat. Glad you could enjoy some milder temps to get your weeding and some walks done before it gets hot and steamy again. Poor Ada. Maybe she’ll settle down as she gets used to her new home.
