Being the only one immune. It’s been weeks now of standing over my loved ones, watching them cling to life, willing their vitals to improve.
Weeks of helplessly watching my mate struggle to survive. There’s hope — a vaccine is on the way. But until then, it’s just me and my comatose friends. As if that isn’t enough torture, at night my imagination runs off with Ohem and leaves me a
sweaty, aching and unfulfilled mess in need of bone-crunching distraction.Thankfully, I have a mission to focus find the high-tech resources my people buried deep in the bowels of this godforsaken planet and get us back in this war. I wasn’t supposed to be a part of this, but now I’m here, I’m going to make damn sure the Unity gets what’s theirs. Especially the sorry, underhanded, son-of-a-B who tried to take my mate from me...
After the exciting and hot events of An American Werewolf In Space that concluded with a cliffie, I had to see how things would resolve plus I was more than happy to be further entertained by this spicy romp through space with the alienist of aliens and a female werewolf berserker out to save the galaxy from the bad guys.
Zero Dark Bloodthirsty is the second book in the Not Your Mama’s Alien Romance series and also the second part of a story arc so really must be read in order to make sense.
Zero Dark Bloodthirsty picks up a few weeks after the events of An American Werewolf in Space. Jack is on the planet that is the home world of her people (yes, werewolves really were aliens from space, earthlings). She has discovered the dark, sad truth about why the planet and her people barely exist now and why some among the supposedly benevolent Unity is behind it all and plans to go after more independent worlds with the cruel, deadly virus they unleashed on her people.
Jack knows their ship of faithful crew are up against a mighty challenge, but she can’t stop moping that some of her closest friends and her mate are stuck in stasis tubes on the planet where she alone is immune and she hopes the vaccine and the high-tech med aids will pull them through.
Fortunately, Aga, an irascible friend gives her the boot up the butt needed to get going on the war preparations and aiding those other defenseless planets. Anu, the mysterious AI might have a fabulous trick or two up her sleeve that might turn the tide and help them in the war. Jack has a few unorthodox ideas of her own including calling out the ferocious monster beast inside her to rip and shred its way through the Unity. If only her honey and friends were with her to appreciate her homicidal plans.
Zero Dark Thirty took a bit to get going unlike the first book that dropped right in with the action and went blow by blow to the end. This one has stepped back to do some good worldbuilding and explain the past which has a baring on the present. Meanwhile, Jack is adjusted to being out in the universe and among all the other aliens and their worlds. This is just in time so she, the lone wolf of the group can use her strengths along with the fabulous tech of her people to make the difference.
There was a camaraderie in the last book that is not there at first because all, but one of Jack’s new sisterhood of friends are in stasis. It was interesting to see the dynamic return as each friend returned to the group. Oh, and there is a dearth of steamy Jack and Ohem sexy time, but readers won’t be disappointed for the entire book (wink, wink).
Good ‘bloodthristy’ battle scenes, sizzling hot erotic scenes, and Jack and her friends along with some new players being themselves. While I enjoyed the first book more, Zero Dark Bloodthirsty was a solid follow-up and had me eager to press forward with Patty and Rema’s story.

Now this sounds like my kind of book. I’m glad you liked it. I might have to find this one for myself.
Oh yeah, good call, Mary! These are a blast and the aliens are really exotic and fun.
This series sounds very interesting. I hope the next book is even better for you.
It’s totally off the hook. LOL Oh yeah, I got binged these so now I’m left waiting. 🙂
Even though it might have slowed the pace a bit, it’s nice to get some background and info on the fantasy world once in a while. Glad to hear you’re ready for the next one!
I agree. I like learning about the aliens and their worlds and cultures going on around the plot.
That cover is crazy looking. Sounds really interesting.
The title for the series says it all, Robin. LOL, yeah, its pretty zany and hawt as a firecracker.
Now you have me curious about this series. It sounds pretty exciting with all the action, interesting world building and some spice as well. The werewolves being aliens from space thing just sounds like such a funny premise.
Ha, the curiosity was huge for me, too. I just had to read it when I saw the title of the first book. 🙂
