The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar. Read-along giveaway ends tonight!

Sunday,  a busy day.  I got a call from the Wake County Democratic Vice Chair. I know her and see her all the time at various Dem get togethers. But since I can’t stand my local early voting site not to be manned I asked for supplies.  She brought over a ton of signs, boxes of vote guides, a folder of info for the site captain, etc.  I already have my neighbor’s big umbrella, and I took my own tv tray and blue tablecloth.   None of the GOP greeters were here today.  I set up at 12:30,  then went home for a couple hours to eat and do the Read-along Chat, then I went back for the last shift and tear down.

Monday,  nobody was signed up but the neighbor and me.  I made it over by 10 and yay! no sign of GOP greeters.  I set up. At 11, a woman the neighbor had met came to work until 3pm.  The neighbor went over for 12-2 and I plan to go back from 3-5.  I’ll have to pack up then because Dems on Tap is tonight.  I hope to get more people signed up for shifts.  There’s a couple who took the info and my phone number and said they would do some.   The guy from Sunday also signed up for a couple more times.   I went over to work in the afternoon and then pack up so I could go to Dems on Tap.  The couple I met came!  Donna gave me more supplies. More people are signing up to help!

Tuesday,  I am tired.  I went over to set up so I was there also to meet a new poll greeter.  The weather is nice.  Another woman who worked last week and will be back in town tomorrow has agreed to be the morning setup person.  I’ve had a low grade headache for 2 days and my back is not excited about standing up for hours on concrete.  But I feel fine when I am there, I like poll greeting.

Wednesday,  there was only one person signed up besides my neighbor and me.  So I went over to setup for her and then came home.  I couldn’t do any blogging because there was some PHP problem with a virus.  Anyway it came up about 12:45 when I had to leave for my next shift. Apparently while I was gone the Wake Dems people came and criticized my poll greeters for not getting people to put door hangers on their neighbors’ doors.  Grrr!   Anyway, I was there until 3:30 and then came home to 5:30 to write my review for tomorrow.

Thursday,  today was a blur.  I got going early. I ran over to the early voting site to setup up.  Then my daughter and I went to the NC State Fair to greet for the Democratic Party.  We made it a half hour early and got to meet a special guest – Roy Cooper!  After our shift, we toured all the 4-H exhibits like sewing, knitting, quilts and jewelry.  We drank lemonade, ate arepas, corn on the cob, homemade ice cream. My daughter ate a caramel apple too.  I had about an hour at home to relax and then head over to poll greeting for the last couple hours.  I packed up and took everything to my morning person.  I am so grateful to her for doing the morning setup for this next week of early voting!  I got home for dinner at 8:15. My daughter has been helping with dinner.

Friday, I woke early but didn’t have to rush. I caught up on so many things, reading email. I worked on getting poll greeters verified for upcoming shifts. I talked or texted with people who had questions.  I wrote 2 reviews. I tried to get some of my blog stuff done like new post setups.  I paid bills.  On the way back to the site, I bought a few things at Harris Teeter and picked up my daughter’s Rx.

Saturday, I went to canvass in the morning.  Both Lisa (NC Senate) and Winn (NC House) were there.  Winn had his dogs.  My daughter and I only managed about 30 homes because they were .5-1 mile apart and we had to drive to them.  I just had time to eat a quick sandwich and headed out to poll greet.  We had lots of helpers signed up today.  The weather warmed up and was nice.  I relaxed a bit after but then got laundry, the dishwasher and a pot of soup going.

This will be another busy week with me doing the site captain thing for early voting.

Chirp Friday Freebies:

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

  1. Sweet Lulu💜

I’m so grateful for your election volunteering! Wonderful that you got to meet Roy Cooper. I met him years ago when he was AG and Josh was his chief of staff. I organized two events for him at Wachovia in Charlotte and he’s just such a decent man. So is Josh. We need him to win! FYI, early voting here in Guilford County has been off the charts. At my site, they said the normal average was about 500 for the middle of the day and it was averaging 1,000. Fingers crossed 🤞🏽

I’m holding out for the audio version of the Eskens book and just pre-ordered the Marsons audiobook. Have a great week, Anne!

  2. I live in Ohio, so there was all kinds of election drama this week. The Vivek Ramaswamy ad has been all anyone talks about. But, Amy Acton and Shrerrod Brown had a rally with President Obama!!!! Sadly it was in Cleveland and too far for me to go to, but exciting to have Obama campaigning for them! Have a great week!

  3. Thanks for doing all that work to support the Dems and making a positive change. But be sure to take care of yourself and don’t work to the point of illness. I had a busy weekend with fun activities. My husband left for work travel this morning and so it’s just me and the cats.
