Thank you all for joining me in a celebration of this amazing series with its stunning world and awesome characters in the Kate Daniels series. I knew I would want to re-read / listen prior to the release of Magic Triumphs. This worked out perfectly for me and it was such a pleasure to have this series to read steadily throughout the year.  You are truly my favorite authors. It’s hard for me to choose between all your series for a favorite, but this one is my favorite, so far.  Hidden Legacy, Innkeeper and Iron Covenant are strong competitors.  Along with Magic Triumphs, Wildfire is one of my favorite books EVER.

You are also beautiful people inside and out. I feel grateful to have been able to meet you.  The first photo is Gordon and Ilona with me at NOLAStorycon. The second is also at NOLAStorycon – Gordon, me, Robin, Jessica, and Ilona. We are in our Magic Binds wedding costumes.  The last one is me again with Gordon and Ilona at the Barnes and Noble in Cary. NC .

So thank you to Ilona Andrews for this gift to us. So here is our love letter to you, Ilona and Gordon, our comments and reviews of your best of the best series!

Ilona and Gordon, the Kate Daniels series has been a fantastic journey I’ve read time and time again.  I love post shift Altanta and all the great people and stories you have packed into it.  I know this is a series I’ll be happy to reread for years to come.  Thank you for giving us Kate’s journey, she is one of the best heroines I’ve read.  Also thanks for Desandra too, I’ll never think of plums the same again.      Robin

The Kate Daniels series has everything I love in a good UF; great characters, amazing world-building, gobs of action, and the snark is off the charts. The secondary characters really help to bring the story to life. I’m so excited to see some of them getting spinoff series. I would love to know how they think up some of the creatures in this world, such as the bunnycat. No matter where Ilona and Gordon go with their writing after the end of Kate’s series, I know I want be along for the ride.     Melanie

I’ve been on this amazing journey for only a couple of years.  But those were two of the worst years of my life. I battled depression (still am) and when all I have fought for in the last decade started slipping away it was the world of IA I turned to for solace and courage. As things got progressively worse, I started a systematic reread of all novels and shorts stories written by the authorlords. In the beginning, it was under the guise of preparing for Magic Triumphs but as soon as I finished Magic Bites I realized sticking to a schedule that will get me to August will be impossible. I needed their characters and their struggles to help me balance a life that was spinning out of control. So thank you, Ilona and Gordon, thank you from the bottom of my heart for the adventures and friends you have given me, both fictional and real life. I’ve met some amazing people through our love for your works. Keep being the wonderful human beings you are and know that you’ve helped make the world a better place.      Maria Dimitrova

About Ilona Andrews

“Ilona Andrews” is the pseudonym for a husband-and-wife writing team. Ilona is a native-born Russian and Gordon is a former communications sergeant in the U.S. Army. Contrary to popular belief, Gordon was never an intelligence officer with a license to kill, and Ilona was never the mysterious Russian spy who seduced him. They met in college, in English Composition 101, where Ilona got a better grade. (Gordon is still sore about that.)

Gordon and Ilona currently reside in Texas with their two children and many dogs and cats.

They have co-authored several bestselling series, including the #1 NYT bestselling urban fantasy of Kate Daniels, rustic fantasy of the Edge, paranormal romance of Hidden Legacy, and Innkeeper Chronicles, which they post as a free weekly serial.

  1. I love the pictures, Anne! I’ve had the pleasure of meeting them a couple of times, too, and that just made me a bigger fan than I already was. Kate Daniels is one of my favorite UF series, and while I’m sad it’s all over, I’m really happy about the way things ended.

  2. Oh cool! Neat that you had a few fun meet-ups. I’ve enjoyed their newsletters, blog posts, and books over the years, but maybe some time I’ll get to meet them, too.
Their writing has such shine and sparkle, cleverness and wit, tenacious plots, and vivid worldbuilding.

  3. Jen

They are simply amazing authors and I hope someday to have the chance to meet them. Their writing sets the bar for storytelling and world building. So damn good.

  4. I’m only just starting to enjoy them as I had an experience a couple years ago, when I was first discovering them, that left a pretty bad taste in my mouth in regards to them. However, I believe that even the best people make mistakes and I’ve seen a lot of really positive interactions since then, so I’ve recently started giving them another chance and have read the Innkeeper Chronicles so far – and really enjoyed it. We’ll see if they become favorites for me, there’s no doubt that they are great story tellers. I’ve actually met them two or three times because they attended conferences I was at. They also were the keynote speakers at an event I go to yearly and I really enjoyed their speech. So I’m open to falling in love like everyone else. First impressions are just really hard to get over. 🙂
